Spectacular views. I would have loved it if the director had chosen to use the whole of the stage and not emphasize the right. There were major and multiple segments of "Don Giovanni" we completely missed because s/he simply didn't realize there was a Stage Right, too.

Watched the ballet Giselle. A lovely experience. Even the cheap seats are comfortable. Note that the seats in the Gallery to the side are very restricted in the view of the stage.

An amazingly opulent building which exceeded expectations. Ticket prices are available to suit most budgets, however, like everywhere, you get what you pay for. It's worth noting that the ticket I bought was described as "restricted view" but in reality I had no view of the stage or orchestra from my seat (in the second row of a box). If you can't stand for long periods bear this in mind when choosing your seat. That said, the overall experience was brilliant and I would definitely recommend a visit if you can.

One of my favourite experiences in Vienna, symbolising so much of what the city is about and has to offer. The guided tour is well worth the price, lead by a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide who was passionate about the Opera House. Walking around the building and seating in the main theatre is awe-inspiring. It’s bound to any musician the chills!

Magnificent building. During the tour I got useful information about the history, architecture, auditorium, epic stage, acoustics of the building and Vienna’s Philharmonic and in the end videos on the notable Staatsoper Opera Ball event preparation and the last year’s scenes.

A superb evening watching the ballet Sleeping Beauty accompanied by the brilliant Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. A fantastic opera house with such opulent surroundings, fantastic frescos and carvings. Well worth a tour before you come to a performance to hear the history of the building.
A thoroughly memorable experience in one of the world’s top opera houses.

One of the most amazing buildings in the world. Beautiful on the outside, should see the terrace, but astonishing on the inside. Was lucky to attend an opera performance recently and it was one of my wishes come true. Also the people that work in it, couldn't be more accommodating. A night I'll never forget for sure.
Buy tickets in advance and even if it is in the upper areas, sound and view are great. It's an experience you won't regret.

The opera house is beautiful and the performance was fantastic. Take care to book tickets in advance, otherwise last minute solution is to search the concert ticket sellers on the corner. They are dressed in Mozart time costumes and have the opera badge, so you will not miss them.

You can visit the opera with a guided tour and/or by buying a ticket for a show during the season. I highly recommend both as the tour well give you a historical background and a show well allow you to enjoy the venue.

Also, the opera offers various different shows every week so it's possible to attend a variety of shows! Be mindful of purchasing tickets well in advance. Another option is buying standing "seats" on the day of the show online at 10:00 am.

If you've ever fancied trying out an opera or a ballet this is definitely for you. Tickets should be bought direct from the opera house & go on sale around 3 months in advance. The building is magnificent. If you're not a fan of Opera or Ballet, I'd recommend the tour of the Opera house. It's not too long, is conducted in several languages and was only €13 or €9 if you're over 62 (I think).

It's beautiful historical opera house with a great legacy and continued excellence. Grab tickets for a show extremely early because seats sell extremely fast or get guided tour when there is no show. Most of Hollywood movies are shot in this location like Mission Impossible 5. The main entrance is the original entrance and opulently decorated. You'll find multiple bars and cafes inside but expect to pay a premium. Staff is great and helpful.

Absolutely awestruck after witnessing our first opera. Everything was managed so well, staring from inspection of tickets to guidance till your seat. This is definitely a must if you are in Vienna.

I had the pleasure of experiencing a performance at the Vienna State Opera, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment I stepped into the grand foyer, I was transported into a world of elegance and history. The architecture is breathtaking, with intricate details and a majestic staircase leading to the auditorium.

The performance itself was a testament to the world-class talent that graces this stage. The orchestra's skill was undeniable, playing each note with precision and emotion. The singers were phenomenal, with voices that resonated not just in the hall, but deep within the soul. The acoustics in the opera house are impeccable, making every seat the best seat in the house.

What struck me the most was the atmosphere. There's a sense of reverence and appreciation among the audience, which is palpable. It's not just about watching a performance; it's about experiencing a piece of art that has been perfected over centuries.

The Vienna State Opera isn't just a venue; it's an institution that embodies the heart and soul of classical music and performance.

We did the tour here with a lovely tour guide, and despite not having gone to an opera before, I found it interesting and informative. It's an impressive building and even more so impressive the work that goes on behind the scenes. I'd recommend the tour to anyone with an interest in architecture, history, and of course, opera and the arts.

A beautiful historical opera house with a great legacy and continued excellence. Grab tickets for a show extremely early because seats sell extremely fast. Some seats don't actually have a view of the stage so pay attention to which you purchase. The main entrance is the original entrance and opulently decorated. You'll find multiple bars and cafes inside but expect to pay a premium. Staff is great and speaks English.

Vienna State Opera is a unique place combining all kinds of art. If you plan to visit the Opera, I recommend to go to official website of the Opera and to purchase your tickets in advance around 2-3 weeks before your trip.

Beautiful architecture inside and out. Do get seats early if you’re planning to watch something inside. I got myself a seat in the stands with limited view but there are screens showing you the lyrics of what they are singing. That was good to know.

Adjacent to our hotel, so we could see the beautiful facade on many occasions. The exterior is stunning, as is most of the interior, but the performance hall fell flat. Granted, some buildings, including the opera hall, were damaged by bombing during WWll. The hall felt very stark without the Baroque embellishments included in the rest of the building. Our expectations may have been too high for this venue, but we expected it to be on par with the history of Vienna. We did not see a performance, so perhaps when in operation, our perspective may have changed.

Beautiful from the outside and the inside and definitely worth a visit. You can either visit the building with a tour or attend an event like a concert, ballet or opera (highly recommended).
Some seats at the opera house have restricted view and might be an “audio-only” seat. Be careful while booking tickets.

It was an amazing experience to see an opera. I was travelling from the US and glad I got to experience the wonderful music. I couldn't see all of the stage because of my seat, but I appreciated the music so much that it didn't matter. And the English subtitles were so helpful! Definitely worthwhile to see if you are visiting Vienna.
