This is a very special zoo. It's beautiful and incredibly clean. They have less species than most the size of the zoo because the animals have the space and carefully crafted enclosures that they deserve. Bravo to this institution for opting to keep less animals in order to properly care for the ones they have. My daughter and I had a great day here and would love to return.

One of the best zoo I've ever seen. I couldn't miss the oldest zoo in the world and I really enjoyed this place. The stuff care about animals. They have a lot of structured areas, what is very comfortable. But you can't see lions and leopards well because of plants around. Animals were hidden somewhere.

So many animals and beautiful grounds also. Well maintained and lots of interactive bits for the kids too with animal facts. Can easily spend most of the day there.

Visited weekday around 10am. Pre-bought tickets but there was no queue.

the zoo is beautiful, well organized, with nice habitats for animals. Pandas, koalas and rhinoceros are the sensations we most wanted to see. The children enjoyed it. any recommendation.

The zoo is immense, so expect to spend 3-4 hours in it in order to complete the visit. The animals are well taken care of, and there is a multitude of information displayed in a child-friendly environment. It's a great way to spend a day in Vienna, especially if you love animals and nature. There is even a pet zone where kids can feed pigmy goats; they are very docile and gentle.

What a wonderful experience this was!

There are tons of areas to rest and have refreshments while enjoying the views.

Animal dens are very well maintained.

Would highly recommend the seal and wolves feeding time.

Average visit time of 3-4 hours.

Family friendly too, kids can also come into close contact with goats and sheep.

Just wow. Not only the oldest zoo in the world, but I dare say one of the cleanest. Everything is well organised, the animals are well cared for and everyone that works here seems to really love animals. Some of the enclosures are made in such a way that you feel like you are among the animals. For some of them, for example the sloths, there is nothing separating you from the animals which feels amazing and makes for a really immersive experience. Totally worth the price. The zoo participates in a re-population program which breeds animals in Austria and then releases them in their natural habitat. They even have a cheese-milk shop up on the hill from their own goats and cows. You can easily spend a day here, totally worth the price.

Always amazing. Great views, great setup, kind people, awesome endless stuff to see. Always find something new. Awesome playground for children. It's totally worth it buying a yearly ticket, even if you visit once a month.

Given the fact that we visited in the winter, it was a pleasant experience! Not the best zoo I visited in europe but definitely worth visiting. Many animals to see. The parking system I thought was weak, we had to park about 350ms away, infact, I can imagine a worse scenario if it was the summer where many people visit..

I loved Schonbrunn Gardens but discovering this zoo was really cool! I haven't seen a zoo so well done and so large for years.Suitable for all ages and makes you wonder whatever was created. The animal information is also accurate and gives you more curiosity about the animal in front.

Truly one of the best zoos out there! The zoo program is filled with feeding and training sessions, during which you can listen to interesting talks about the animals. The talks are in German but you can ask questions in English afterwards. The lecturer had a good grasp of English so it was easy to communicate with her and learn something new! The talks are nicely spaced out, so it was easy to arrive at each in time.

The habitats were lovely and so were the animals. The animals were the perfect mix of classic zoo all-stars (lions, tigers, flamingos) and more unique ones (Gambian rat, lynx). The zoo itself is a blend of the historical architecture and a nearby forest. The terrain shape is also interesting, so the wolves and the mountain animals inhibit an actual hill. The hill also provides a great view of Vienna!

The most unique section is the traditional domestic animals of Austria, mostly highlands. These breeds of sheep, cows, goats, horses, and chickens went almost extinct after the globalization and the pursuit of optimalising animal husbandry, so it was great seeing conservation efforts at the zoo and a bit of Austrian history.

Overall a great zoo for a fair price.

We LOVED the zoo. You can easily spend the entire day there; it's huge with a lot to see, and there are many small, interesting facts about the animals to read. It's well-organized too. I recommend visiting during feeding times (listed on the map) – it's a lot of fun. However, I wouldn't recommend the dessert room - it was small, and there wasn't much of interest there.

We paid €26 pp. This is one of the best zoo I’ve been at. I like that they have summer and winter option to observe the animals. The ‘cages’ seemed very cleaned, animals didn’t look depressed. It has very rare species for a Zoo - panda, koala, polar bear, Arctic wolf and many more cute animals. Definitely recommend visiting it. You’ll need 3-4 hours to properly see everything.

Loved this zoo! Went there at 9:30 in the morning so no queuing and got to see most of the feedings. Wanted to see specific animals so was done in 3 hours. But you can actually spend an entire day with your kids there since the zoo is big enough. And there are a lot of other things to enjoy in the grounds of the palace.

It is one of the oldest zoos in Europe. We are here in winter, wasnt sure what to expect.
There is a lot of construction going on.
Especially at the beginning, don't get discouraged. Lots of great sights are to come, especially a Panda, which was eating right by the window. 3 Koalas, also busy and eating. Lots of movement from most animals. A few snackbars to grab something to eat. Also definitely worth seeing the insecthouse. With lots of butterflies.

Schönbrunn Zoo deserves an enthusiastic five stars! The expansive variety of animals, well-maintained enclosures, and commitment to conservation make it a standout zoo experience. The engaging exhibits, educational programs, and the picturesque setting within Schönbrunn Palace grounds create an exceptional visit for both wildlife enthusiasts and families

Fantastic zoo! The animals were all animated and moving around, and appeared to be very happy! The polar bear was the stand out attraction though the variety of snakes was hugely impressive.

Loved this place. Was well worth the money, we spent over 5 hours looking at all the animals loved seeing the polar bears, Arctic Wolves in the snow and Pandas, Koalas and siberian tigers. The enclosures seemed decent sizes and the animals looked well looked after. It was nice having a path follow round so we didn't miss anything on route, although not all animals were out due to the weather. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if and when in vienna.

For sure one of the most beautiful zoo in Europe, we spent like 3 and a half hours visiting the entire zoo. There are plenty of places where you can buy food, coffee and other stuff. We will visit the zoo with every occasion we visit Viena.
