Worth a visit to see medieval Crowns and regalia and other historic and valuable items which you can get up close to see. Some wonderful pictures on show. Atmospheric. Part of the history of Vienna and Austria worth seeing.

It was a lot more than I expected! A huge number of exhibits, rich, beautiful and sparkling. Very eye-catching. Well- systematised, too. An amazing experience!

I was really surprised by how entertaining and interesting I found this sight! I had already visited the main Vienna attractions but I think the treasury was my favourite. Anyone who loves history - particularly Holy Roman Empire history - will enjoy the wonderfully narrated and extensive audioguides across so many of the exhibits. Really beautiful and unique treasures such as the crown of the holy Roman emperor, the largest cut emerald in the world and shards of the ‘true cross’ and other Catholic relics are all exhibited and described in rich detail. A must visit!

Beautiful place!
We were a group of 3 and got the family pack for audio guides which was way cheaper than getting individual ones. If you have the Vienna Pass, the audio guides are not included, so that’s why we had to pay separately.

We spent here well over 3hrs because we wanted to see and listen to all the info provided by the audio guide. We could have made it faster, but it was too interesting and we didn’t want to miss anything!

The Imperial Treasury is simply spectacular and is a must see for anyone in Vienna with even a slight interest in history. For me the highlight was the complete coronation regalia of the Holy Roman Emperor - everything from the crown to the mantle to the hose and slippers. They even had the collection of holy relics (including the supposed Spear of Destiny!) used to sanctify the coronations. But the other highlights are almost as amazing from the crown of the Austrian Emperors, the staggeringly grand ewer and basin used to baptise Habsburg infants, to a vessel for unguent carved out of a single enormous piece of emerald. Definitely book in advance - it wasn't too crowded when I went but I think this place is likely to run out of spaces in more busy times of year and you definitely don't want to miss out on this unique collection of treasures.

Very much hidden and hard to find, but once you’re there it’s fantastic! Great displays and information about the collection of the Hapsburgs’ riches. Unfortunately, when I visited the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire was not there, but there was plenty of other cool stuff to look at. Highly recommend visiting.

A great walk through the museum which offers a wide range of exhibits from different periods of the past. Personally, I was most impressed by the embroideries in the last room - the Burgundian heritage, totally mind-blowing and amazing, you don't know if it's painting or embroidery.

The museum was pleasant, and the staff was friendly. I snapped a few pictures of the jewelry exhibits. It's a museum kids will appreciate, and the restrooms were clean. However, only specific rooms were air-conditioned, and it became quite warm inside.

Definitely worth the visit (although I do love history). Highlights were the imperial Holy Roman empire crown, some interesting relics related to Jesus's crucifixion as well as other imperial jewels and crowns.

Surprisingly large this museum contains a large number of vestments, holy relics and imperial items. I'd recommend buying the audio guide for 5 euros so you can appreciate the items in greater detail. Don't be too occupied with taking photos as it's hard to get a nice shot through the glass. If you have the time in Vienna ,this place deserves a visit. Allow 60 mins.

Worth the visit. Entrance fee €16. I didn’t buy ticket in advance but some people do recommend. Spent around hour and a half.

Amazing place, definitely recommend, we visited on Friday afternoon and the place wasn’t crowded at all. The jewels displaced along with other objects such as pieces of clothing are very interesting. To sum it up, there is just so many things you can see for a fair price.

Amazing experience for sure! There is a myriad of history to walk through and observe. My son learned so much information that he is still parsing through it in his brain and with all the pictures he took. I'd recommend to get the joint ticket to also see the natural history museum across the street. It will save you some money.

One of the finest collections of Crown Jewels in Europe, probably second only to the Tower of London. It has the Crown of the Holy Roman Empire, the Austrian Imperial regalia of Rudolph II, but much more. They also allow photos and the guards aren’t intrusive. This and the Kunsthistoriches can’t be missed if you’re in Vienna.

Beautiful museum. Now too crowded that you can still enjoy the presence.
