This is a good cafe to check and try out. They make fresh delicious pastries and sweets. You can just walk in without any reservation but you have to prepared falling in line. If you are just up for a sweet break during a day of walking it is best to come around just after lunch then the line is lesser but also weekends can be very busy.

The Annatorte is outstanding. Its nougat glaze, shaped like waves, mimics Anna's hairstyle bun. The cake has a unique flavor resulting from the combination of chocolate, orange liqueur, and nougat. It's not overly sweet but strikes a pleasant balance between the different flavors.

Beautiful place, looks like taken from a fairy tail. Placed in Wien Altstadt’s heart, provides a fine variety of pastry and coffee. Tastes all really nice but, in my humble opinion, the price is quite high. Either way, is really popular and people keep coming and coming, so i guess it’s okay. Recommended so you feel the experience.

Cafe Demel in Vienna is a confectionery masterpiece. Steeped in tradition, the elegant setting and courteous staff create an inviting atmosphere. The pastries, cakes, and chocolates are nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing both artistry and flavor. Each bite is a symphony of taste, making it a haven for dessert enthusiasts. While the prices reflect the quality, the experience at Cafe Demel is a delightful indulgence, capturing the essence of Vienna's sweet heritage. A must-visit for those craving an exquisite dessert affair in a refined ambiance.

If you want to enjoy one of the best traditional dessert in Austria/Vienna and you don’t have too much time, then you definitely should go for take away service from Demel. Even the queue is long, it is getting pretty fast, because you can pay only with the credit card. Savoring a delicious dessert is guaranteed!

Want to try the best Sachertorte in Vienna? This is it. We reached 5 minutes before the opening time and so got a place easily. There will be a queue to get a table but they are very warm and accommodating. The service was top notch. What else do you need? I could keep coming back here.

We didn’t have time to queue for the cafe, so went into the shop to experience their patisserie! The shop has some beautiful cakes/biscuits and we purchased some to take away!! They were so delicious!!

This was my favorite restaurant I visited in Austria. It is hard to get a seat, but once you do, everything is delicious! We got traditional Austrian desserts, coffee, and lunch. The bread and pastries were out of this world. I bought chocolates for my family back home and they loved them. Worth waiting for a seat!

Worth the wait. Highly recommended to us as a must have while in Vienna. Head over early before the bakery opens. You will still wait in line to get in but with its multi level space there is plenty of room to get you and your party seated. When sat we were greeted with kindness and playfulness with our two year old son. We had to try all their popular items, just ask what they are as that may limited availability during the time your present. We filled up our table and had a tasting tour accompanied by their hot chocolate and an espresso to sip on between tastings. Service and the menu were wonderful. Also wanted to throw out that if you’re not into dining there they have a bakery available on the first floor for take away.

I have not planned to visit Demel at all but with takeaway queue outside I change my mind entering the shop.

There are lot of cakes and premium products. I took cake, candy, chocolate and jam for my parents and friends.

A must go place with exceptional sweets (try the kaizelsmash) not so much for the sweets rather than the atmosphere and history of the place. One of the most historical places. A bit expensive but it's an experience.

Good Viennese atmosphere. Very traditional and definitely worth a visit. We waited for about 30-40 min to get a table, since reservations are not possible. Had the Kaiserschmarrn and some tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Was great. Afterwards we bought some stuff at the shop (great products, quite pricey). Coming here is a great experience.

The famous Sachertorte is a bit disappointed. However!!! Other deserts are really delicious such as apple pie and Anna cake.
The most wonderful thing is Marta who works there, she is really kind and friendly we have a good time there!
Marta is the best!

We did not have time to queue to go into the cafe, but we tried the Kaiser Schmarrn to go, and it was amazing! It was one of the best we had! The pastries in the shop also look amazing, but we were too full to try them. This is definitely on our list for our next trip to Vienna!

I’ve had two positive visits at Demel. I go a bit early to be first in line and select a nice table with views outside. I loved their version of sachertorte and their krapfen with apricot filling. Service was quick and pleasant. I could sit there for a long time to relax and journal. They have a shop where you can buy their cakes and other delicacies.

it has a long waiting list for main area so we sat on bar side. we tried kaiserschmarren and double espresso. if you are not into eggs and butter you may not like it. because its a little bit heavy and it tastes&smells egg and butter a lot. sitting on the bar was nice and cute, if you have time in vienna you can wait for upstairs or you can come as early as you can but bar was nice and has great atmosphere too.

Review is only based off of the kaiserschmarren take out window! It was quick with no line, you just choose a small or large portion size with berries or plums. Chose the smaller size which was a good size to share with someone if you just wanted to try it out.

Stylish place that is simply a must-visit - not only for dessert enthusiasts. Beautiful interiors, and the taste is a true pastry art. Prices are high, yet sometimes you have to wait quite a bit for your turn.

If you want to feel the atmosphere of Vien , and try some traditional food and drinks, you should go to this place, because it’s working like from 1888 , and serving specialties such as cream cakes, scones & strudels.
Also there is a shop with chocolate, deserts and other stuff that you can take to go.

I liked it very much!

Worth the 40 minute wait. The staff here are extremely friendly, every single one we came across was very kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is very relaxed and not stressful as you would imagine such a busy place. They clearly have everything under good control. The hot chocolate and cakes were very nice as were the savoury options. It is very clean and we were not rushed at all. I would highly recommend you wait the 30-40mins.
