Now THIS…is a museum! It’s perfect in every way. Easy to get in, easy to navigate, well plotted out for easy navigation and the most elegant displays I’ve ever seen. And that's saying a lot… I worked for the NHM in San Diego for years… and I’ve been to more museums around the world than anyone I know in my circle of friends. The marble pillars and floors, the exquisite architecture, the painted ceilings and adorable gift shop… there is not one thing I could improve or change… there is even a cafe with seating in the great atrium.
Be prepared to see and learn about some artifacts collected/gifted/acquired from far reaches of the planet and then displayed with care, attention and admiration deserving of the greatness these pieces offer and a reverence to the cultures they represent. Without a doubt, if you see no other museum in Vienna, see this one. 10/10 Recommend! -J

A museum that has vast of artifacts, collections and objects from different countries from Africa, Asia and Americas.
In addition, a collection of Imperial Armory - which a jaw dropping experience to see it personally.

The museum interior/exterior and architecture were impressive.
The staffs were very warm greeting and welcoming to the tourists.
There is a cloak area before entering the main museum.
It has a 3 floors and each floor has a marvelous collections that it takes almost 2 hours in the museum.
The museum is very spacious and all the exhibits are translated in English description.
There is a cafeteria, souvenirs and of course toilet room at the ground floor.

Free entrance if you are using Vienna Pass card.

I highly recommend this museum. It is quiet and less crowded. You can enjoy the collections from all over the world in it. The staff here are very polite, friendly and smiling. Especially the gentleman at the ticket office who patiently explained to me how to use the audio guide. It was a very happy trip. Thank you.

Our eyes are always familiar with the historical, traditional and etymological objects in Europe and the Middle East.
In this museum, there are objects from parts of the world that we do not know much about. For example, they included very interesting and unfamiliar objects belonging to Eskimos, Aztecs, Aborigines, African and North American Indians.
Those, like me, whose travel experience is limited to Europe and the Middle-Near East should definitely visit this museum. This place creates a desire to go to new places.

A very interesting museum with a great collection from different cultures.
It has two floors, the first one is a collection from different countries and the second floor is dedicated to Austria with a special musical collection.

Didn't expect much, got surprised. And absolutely gigantic museum. If you're into history and culture, you can spend 3 hours here easily. It has stuff from almost every epoch and culture, it's really quite something. Recommend.

This museum is just amazing and is an absolutely stunning building.

When visiting here allow a full day at least as there is so much to see.

The Armoury is vast, with many full suits of armour. They have models of horses with riders on their backs all in full armour.

There is a section just for music. There are so many variations on instruments, with full pianos etc..

They have a science fiction section, a section on Japanese calligraphy and general history.

The cafe on the lower level is set in the hall of columns which is breathtaking to see. The ladies who served us spoke perfect English and were very polite and attentive.

This place is a must see when in Vienna

Amazing museum. The collection of medieval armour and weaponry is amazing. The floor dedicated to the World Museum is also great.

Excellent museum with the famous headdress allegedly belonging to Aztec emperor Moctezuma and other precious objects from diverse civilizations around the world. The ticket includes access to a superb collection of renaissance and baroque musical instruments. Highly recommended!

Absolutely wonderful! Unfortunately the armory has next to no English subtitles, however the Instrument section and the World Exhibition sections do.
The instrument section surprised me the most! I didn’t know the history of music can be such fun. The best part was the hands-on experience one could get with special replicas of a clavichord and other niche instruments replicated for the museum.
The armory is splendid! You can see not only different fashions of armor, but also the size of different historical figures! There is also horse armor and child armor - how fascinating! A small section on falconry was also interesting.

The museum is great at exhibiting things old and new. There was a temporary exhibition on bees which was very informative. Generally speaking a great museum, a bit underrated compared to Kunsthistorisches and Natural History Museum but it should not be!

Incredible collection!!! My favorite museum in Vienna so far. I was so exhausted by the end of the first floor I did just a walk through of the hall of armor and instrument collection upstairs. The artwork of Nepalese migrant workers killed while abroad was incredible, terrible and jarring. I was also very moved by the doll left by the people of Tierra del Fuego, who were exterminated by means of colonial invasion and genocide, with the last of their people dying in the ‘70s.

An interesting museum with some exhibits that vary greatly in their directions.

We visited mainly in order to attend the science fiction exhibition that is currently on and found the pieces to be fascinating and insightful. Guides spoke decent English and were helpful, as well as all other staff.

Entrance fees and shop prices are high, which is the only downside.

there were a lot of stuff like armor and old instruments. you will need to spend a lot of time to see everything. for the size of the place, the tickets are really cheap and it is definitely worth it to visit this museum. also there are activities for children like drawing superheroes or writing about the future. there are screens around the museum that explain things that are in the room that they are in. probably one of the best museums that I have ever went to is this one.

It is such an amazing museum! Don't be like me, don't come there when you're already tired. Start your day with it to really appreciate all the unique and amazing things there. The collection is huge and fascinating, it's not just travel in space but also in time because the things gathered there a long time ago can't already be found anywhere. Cultures changed, some peoples and their traditions long gone. Very impressive! You can also see a huge collection of body armour and a great collection of old musical instruments, really beautiful.

Great museum with a lovely collection. I specially enjoyed the temporary Sci-Fi exhibition. I took a long time to see everything and at some point it got tiring for me, but I definitely don’t regret going!

Absolutely world class. They took the palace of the Habsburgs and turned it into a museum with something everyone would enjoy.

Adjacent to a collection of musical instruments including a piano that the Schumanns and Brahms owned is one of the world's largest collections of armour, including jousting knights. Downstairs is a special exhibition featuring Black Panther, Princess Leia, and other stalwarts of modern culture... You can easily spend a day here.

Shell out for the audio guide and you'll hear explanations of the exhibits alongside details of the rooms of the palace during the Habsburgs' reigns. Well worth the extra eddies.
