Absolutely a “must see” location!! Especially for tourists but also a great place for locals. I would call this place a feel good spot! Or a journey through history. The classic design and impeccable architecture makes you feel like you’re in a movie. The service and food are also nice.

Visited one of Karlplatz's most enchanting cafes and was truly captivated by its blend of opulence and history, with the Opera house providing a stunning backdrop. The interior is simply stunning, drawing visitors from all corners with its vibrant atmosphere. The service was impeccable, and the staff were so attentive and respectful, ensuring we had a memorable experience.Despite already having had a hearty breakfast elsewhere, we couldn't resist the temptation to try this renowned cafe. The variety of delicious cakes and expertly crafted coffee options were irresistible. Each bite and sip showcased the cafe's dedication to culinary excellence. Can't wait to revisit and discover even more delights!

Before you head here make RESERVATIONS. This iconic establishment is the quintessential place to enjoy the 3 C’s, a cake, coffee/tea and conversation. The interior from the moment you walk in it’s old classy charm. The first and second level places you can sit and have long conversations while enjoying Viennese style cake with coffee. The core is fit for a king queen, while not being stuffy for the common people. The service we had was quick and efficient. Sat in the dining room on the second level, and it was exquisitely beautiful. Come here for a special occasion, or in the bustling city of Vienna.

My Sunday brunch at Gerstner in the historic Palais Todesco was an experience I won't soon forget. Arriving at 11am, we ascended to the third floor, where the brunch unfolded in an ambiance that can only be described as spectacular. The setting was a marvel of Austrian opulence, featuring intricately carved wood ceilings adorned with gold accents and classical paintings, all impeccably restored and maintained. The atmosphere was further enriched by a pianist, whose melodies perfectly complemented the elegant surroundings.

Seated by a window with a quaint view of the opera, the stage was set for an unforgettable meal. The service was outstanding from the outset, with our waiter and the staff providing attentive and gracious service throughout. The beverages, including tea, champagne, wine, and coffee, were of excellent quality, matching the high standard of the meal.

The food selection was exceptional, featuring everything from perfectly cooked steak and tender asparagus to fresh fish and succulent oysters. The cold buffet was equally impressive, offering a wide array of choices. However, the dessert bar was a true highlight, boasting an array of beautifully crafted cakes and strudels that were a delight both to the eye and the palate.

In conclusion, the Sunday brunch at Gerstner, Palais Todesco, is a must-visit for anyone seeking a luxurious dining experience in Vienna. The combination of a breathtaking venue, exquisite food, and flawless service makes this brunch a standout recommendation.

I highly recommend this beautiful place because of the high level of service, delicious food and the perfect atmosphere.
We booked a table here for my daughter's birthday, where we enjoyed attentive, first-class service and a pleasant afternoon. Special thanks go to our personal waiter Laszlo for his attentive and professional service.

Atmospheric place with classic interior and cuisine. The cake was delicious and filling. But the waiters were especially striking and memorable. Despite the fact that there was always a line of visitors in the cafe, they always behaved positively, friendly, openly and even empathetically. Special thanks to the waiter who loves dogs :)

A great place with authentic Viennese atmosphere. The waiter was friendly and made it his personal mission to help us enjoy. We had the sparkling house Rosè which was a delight. The ambience soothing and the food great!

Absolutely gorgeous and stunning cafe!!! This is a 3-story cafe with the 1st level being the shop. We got a table on the 3rd floor. The ambiance is perfect for having a coffee and a slice of cake. The staff are very nice and professional. We ordered a beef tartar, a late, an Anton Gerstner kaffee, and a slice of Sacher cake and our check came out to $48. Definitely check this place out, it's worth waiting in line.

The ambience was doubtlessly enchanting. The prices were higher than normal, but the experience made them worth it. The waiter recommended us the Haustorte, and that has been the best pastry I have ever tasted; it melted in the mouth and was delicious!

Utterly worth queuing up to 15-20 mins. The serenity and serendipity of the place is remarkable.

Exceptionally polite staff. Organising a massive number of guests per day notwithstanding, they had the patience to detail and explain their menu and had a bit of a chat with us as if we were their only customers.

The cake tasted heavenly, not a fault in it albeit a little too sweet flakes.

The coffee was up to the mark in every way.

Prime location, delicious food and delightful service.

We popped in for a quick brunch. We had their signature Gerstner sandwich, the sacher torte and their signature torte. The service was so professional. Our server was polite, efficient and very helpful.

The Gerstner sandwich was so delicious. I guess it makes sense to call something signature of their name sake. The sachet torte was dry as elsewhere. Honestly it’s a big overhyped. And we couldn’t make sense of people queuing up for hours for a piece of dry cake. The signature torte however tastes so good. It’s moist and not too sweet. Again it makes sense that they would call it their signature torte.

There’s a bit of wait, but wasn’t too bad. If you can make a reservation ahead of time, you can save some time.

The cafe is really beautiful and has great location. Definitely make a reservation before going so you can enjoy the top floor. The service is a bit slow but otherwise the place is great. I had the yoghurt with homemade granola and the pain au chocolat and it was delicious.

Amazing ambience inside. Its like being invited to a royal family residence. Tried only desserts, but it was great. Good service. Highly recommend, much more then many others over hyped places like Sacher cafe.

It’s our 4th time here and every time we are truly impressed by the atmosphere. We most love the bar/café on the 1st floor, it’s all wooden and dark burgundy style. There’s also a rather golden-royal theme on the 2nd floor, and a dessert shop on the 0 floor. The service is impeccable, and despite the line, they treat you with respect all throughout the wait (you can reserve in advance of course). Dogs are welcome too, and are offered water. Special thank you to Laszlo and Mihal who are the two waiters who usually take care of us - they’re very kind and always try to learn a few words in our language. Overall, we are very grateful and satisfied every time we come here. Truly one of our most favourite spots in Vienna. PS: They also have a vegan and dairy-free gluten-free options in their menu.

Beautiful Viennese cafe. I passed by it repeatedly on my way to my hotel and would always stop to admire the decorations at night, that finally I decided to go try it. The wait was a bit long at the end of the evening...about 20-25 min. Ordered some capuccino and a cherry streusel which was huge and delicious. It was a bit pricy for sure, but I think you are paying for the ambience. Worth a stop, and maybe to try some of the other tasty sweet offerings.

Probably the best Viennese cafe. The atmosphere and interior are wonderful and a lot more beautiful than the other cafes in the city. You feel like a royal eating in the grand hall.

We went for breakfast on Saturday and had a reservation. Although there were tables for walk-ins, booking a table a few weeks in advance for the Saturday morning is advised.
The food was tasty and the apple strudel and the cakes were great.

The service was quick and accurate. If you are booking a table, know that the ground floor is the shop. Then the first floor is like a cafe and even though the decor is nice, you'd want to book a table on the second floor. The cafe-restaurant is there and it's the place with opulent decor and painted ceilings that you see in most photos here.

We had Gerstner Torte and Haus Torte. Both were very delicious. Do not forget to order whipped cream to them separately!
Go to the second floor! Even if you have to wait there for a bit; just wait. Second floor is its own universe worth visiting!

Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzukerbäcker located at Kärntner Str. 51, 1010 Wien, Austria is an excellent place for a pastry and coffee. Reservations are strongly suggested, though we were able to come in without one and it was only a 5 minute wait. Service however was very, very slow, so stay a while and relax!

Very nice coffee place, shop and restaurant in front of the Vienna Opera. Great service, elegant atmosphere. Cakes and coffee were good but on the classic side.
