Nihon Bashi remains a staple of Japanese cuisine nestled close to the Viennese State Opera. Right from the start you walk through a traditional cloak to enter the establishment where you are welcomed into a serene culinary refuge. The choice of traditional seating, as well as table seating makes the experience ever more special to anyone wishing to immerse themselves into a different space. Their vast selection of hand made noodle soups, sushi and seafood induce a sense of taste that cannot be quenched by one visit alone. Marvelous meal. Exceptional service.

Very good food, service, price and ambience. Totally one of the best Japanese places I have tried in Vienna.

Sushi is really good and affordable, also other dishes are really nice like the Katsudon or the Saikyo Yaki.

Don’t go by appearances!! We reached here after we saw some amazing reviews and saw a small red door and kind of paused for a second. But then we trusted the reviews and went inside and boy were we delighted!!! It’s an authentic Japanese restaurant. There is the floor seating option as well, but you have to make a reservation.

We ordered some sushi rolls, some nigiri, soba noodles and egg + chicken on rice. Miso soup came with the set and it was hot and tasty. The food was great. The staff was very efficient and nice.

Must try is their warm sake. You can go for a small size to try first.

Authentic Japanese menu! I highly recommend! They accommodated a table of 5 at the last minute on a busy night, and the service was excellent!

We’ve come to have dinner here multiple times and it has never disappointed us :) The quality of the food is very high and you can tell that everything they serve is fresh. They have different kinds of fish, so if you want sushi/sashimi other than the classic salmon or tuna, you should definitely come here! The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely too and most of the service staff that work here are Japanese. They are usually very nice and friendly :) One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Vienna to come on special occasions ✨

Found this place based on high ratings in Google Maps.
The location is super, the food is good. The choice is quite broad, and I like the vibe and atmosphere as we had to sit under the traditional Japanese tables (low tables).
Definitely recommend to try cold plump wine.
Mochi with green tea was also nice!
The service was good, the personnel was very polite and kind!

Stopped by while I’m Vienna, because we miss Japanese food. We came during the lunch rush, so there was bit of a wait to be seated and also some wait to place the order, but the food came quickly. The portions are huge, about almost double size what you would get in Japan. The plating isn’t fancy but food is good. I’m quite sure we will be back as they have so many amazing dishes

We had amazing dining experience in the restaurant, that reminded me so much about my trips to Japan. Extremely authentic place with freshest ingredients and fastest customer service.
I made a reservation in advance because I had a short stay, but after the first dinner we decided to come one more time. So glad that it was possible.

Very tasty and reasonable lunch menu.
Feel like I am in Japan.
I stayed in Vienna only two days and went there both of days...
Staffs were Japanese but they spoke English and German. Recommend for non Japanese people who want to try Japanese food and sake.

Friendly host, authentic environment and just fantastic sushi. We showed up without a reservation and they were kind enough to find us a space. Great place for couples looking for a quiet place to have an awesome experience.

Great restaurant, food was amazing and tge staff is very attentive and nice. As coeliacs we have to eat gluten free and they were extremely careful to cater to our needs.
Another customer was giving a hard time to the staff while we were there and still the waitress & waiter were extremely nice to everyone. Would 💯 recommend and definitely will be back when I visit Vienna next time.

By far the best sashimi in town, in our opinion no other place comes closer to the original Japanese taste. Nice staff, very attentive, even if the place is completely full, which is the key point here: booking a table in advance is very important, or you risk waiting a bit in line.

One of the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Vienna. Kudos for opening during Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. This restaurant serves excellent Japanese cuisine that we were so delightfully intrigued that we ended up going back to the restaurant on both nights.

1st Night, with no reservations, we didn’t wait that long for a table. The service were excellent as we were greeted and ushered to our table once available. The sommelier, Sato-San recommended a very nice bottle, Gassan ($66 euros) instead of our initial order of a pricer sake for our guilty pleasures. Food wise, we ordered a braised sea bass that seems to be their signature. We also ordered tempura with soba, 6 types of sashimi and chicken karaage. Overall food and service experience was exponentially wonderful and well indulged.

2nd Night, we wanted something simpler and nothing beat a nice sukiyaki for rainy weather in Vienna. As usual, the service was just as good as last night, with special mention to Sato-San for recognizing us again. We ordered the sukiyaki with added portion of beef. We also had 2 ikura sushi and we ordered again that highly addictive appetizer that is a mixture of tobiko, ika, cucumber and seaweed. The sukiyaki was gastronomic experience that we ended slurping the delicious soup broth that had the essence of both the vegetables and the beef. Unfortunately, raw eggs to pair with the sukiyaki wasn’t available, seems like a food regulation in Vienna, however it did little to dampen our food experience.

This restaurant can be affordable depending on what you ordered. The portion of the food is decent and as for quality wise, it is very good. We recommend the Braised sea bass, tobiko appetizer and sukiyaki, if you are sharing.
