Likes.
1. Excellent location right on the main road, hardly few mins walk from all the waterfront, restaurants & shops around
2. Amazing free breakfast, the best I've had in Vietnam so far. options to choose from eggs, banh mi, noodles, pancakes, soup, Vietnamese coffee, tea and juice. Tasted super yummy.
3. Comfortable beds with towels, blankets, toothbrush/tooth paste provided.
4. Early check-in at no extra charge, provided when arrived from Hanoi at 11am, which was helpful

Dislikes
1. Wifi wasn't very reliable or super fast, was hard to stream any vidoes. Not a deal breaker but if you are working from here, video calls could be an issue.
2. Showers although had hot water, the pressure was way too low. Minor complaint but not a show stopper
3. Dorm beds have no privacy. Huge room with 28 beds but beds don't have privacy curtains.

Had a great stay here. Asked for a private room, they gave it in the hotel next door. Extremely friendly staff with great recommendations. Thank you for your kindness!

Great location close to all amenities. Staff are fab as they treat you as you treat them. Three types of dorms with super beds, hot showers, laundry service and personal locker, plus a good choice of breakfast all for $5 or $6 a night depending on dorm. This is my opinion I have stayed here on four occasions totaling over a hundred nights and I wouldn't stay in any other hostel on Cat Ba island.

I cannot rate this place enough. James the owner who sits out front day and night to greet guests with open arms is one the friendliest most genuine people I have met with a story behind him that is almost unbelievable and his English is superb. The dorm rooms for a hostel are 5 star. My experience here has been second to none. You are made to feel right at home and like royalty everytime you return even if you are gone for 5 minutes to go to the ATM. Do yourself a favour and don't bother looking for any where else to stay on cat ba. Thank you James and your staff I look forward to returning in the future 🙂

The hostel is centrally located. It has all the accommodations one needs in Cat Ba, Wifi, clean rooms, warm showers. As well, you can stay out past 11 pm. We booked a hostel for a different night. The other hostel did not allow you to stay past 11 pm. Make sure to check that you can stay out. Cat Ba Central was great and the people who ran it were all very nice. If you need any help Nguyen du James was very helpful.

Extremelly friendly Hostel. Stayed in a big dorm but everyone very friendly. Nguyen du James at the hostel was extremelly helpful and really helped us. Would reccomend Tour 2 which cost 360,000 per person - nice Kayaking, Good snorkelling and a lovely island with a sweet cliff to climb. Breakfast was great too! Some other mixed reviews (such as someone named Nathalie) on this place but we had a great time and wouldn't let those sway your opinion! Would rate 10/10 for the price, and will come here any time we come to Catba.

Had a great stay here. Stayed in 28 bed dorm but was great and the layout of the rooms was excellent. Showers worked great and the staff were super friendly and happy to help. Would recommend.

Very nice people work here. They were very attentive. They helped us learn some Vietnamese! Drinks were very affordable and it has a nice view accross to the port.

Best hostel in Cat Ba. Super professional, comfi beds, good food , nice breakfast included. 5$ dorms, really clend and nice. Recommand. Motorbike renrtal, halong bay tours, 10 min walking from the beach.

If you didn't chose dorm room - you will end up in the hotel, next to the hostel. If you chose bay facing windows - it is great. The "mountain view" is not very good.

The staff are quite friendly and helpful. Minimalistic but has clean restrooms and dorms. It's definitely budget friendly.

very welcome staff would advise anyone to stay here very clean and very good air con and wifi. Nguyen du james very welcome and very good and cheap tours.
