It was the best homestay of my 2-month trip to Southeast Asia. Thanh Phong is a wonderful host, she speaks perfect English and looks after you wonderfully and gives perfect information. The room was clean and there was a lovingly prepared surprise and fruit for breakfast every day. I would have loved to stay longer. Thank you for your hospitality

An absolute value for money accommodation at a great location run by enthusiastic and genuinely caring proprietors (who speak English). Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast made to your preference and a good motorbike to rent for a friendly rate.

The only issue you'll have to content with is the bathroom with the shower in the center (no screen) and a permanently wet floor (and soggy toilet paper if you're not careful). But it's a minor inconvenience that you will find all over Vietnam. Would definitely go here again.

We had an excellent stay here. Phuong and her husband have an excellent place, next to a quiet lake. Much better than staying in the town of Cat Ba (in our opinion). They will make delicious different types of Vietnamese breakfasts for you in the morning but you can also request something different when you ask for it. You can rent a scooter from them for cheap and explore the island. They will make sure to make you comfortable during your stay. She booked our return bus ticket and even walked us to the bus when we left. Thanks Phuong!

Beautiful, quiet place with stunning views. The host was so kind and helped us with everything, including making our family (who were staying elsewhere) a special vegetarian breakfast so that we could all eat together. Thank for being so welcoming and lovely, we will definitely come back!

Very quiet place away from the city. Very nice rooms and comfy beds and nice view from the lake. The owners are super friendly and helpful. Would stay here again for sure.

The place is really beautiful and surrounded by nature, a bit out of town but you can walk everywhere (the streets are not always well maintained though).
The family is super nice and they will spoil you with the most deliciuos food. We are vegan and had wonderful breakfast

Beautiful room with a great view of the lake. Friendly and very helpful host and the breakfast is delicious. You can (cheaply) rent an automatic motor to tour the island. They have very friendly cats who ask you to pet them a bit 😄

This was my absolute favourite home stay in my 5 week trip in Vietnam. Unfortunately I fell ill just before arriving here but P and her husband couldn’t have helped me through the illness enough. Aswell as being genuinely caring and considerate people, the home stay itself is gorgeous - isolated next to a beautiful lake, 10 minute walk to a gorgeous beach, clean and very comfortable rooms, great breakfast! I thoroughly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Cat Ba island.

I booked one night and ended up staying three! I’m a female solotraveller and found navigating travel and transport around the island to be easy! P also gave me many recommendations for tours and transport.

Wonderful hosts. Came over for my two days off work. I am in the habit of sleeping late because I work during the evenings... It was not a problem. The place was peaceful, quiet and the hosts catered to all needs regarding breakfast and even helped me out with some other things! Highly recommend. Also, lovely cats, one just had kittens. You can adopt one if you like :)

The host family is super nice and will really go our their way to help you! The room is really good value for money located at the most cute and tranquil lake, yet surprisingly close to the main road so easy accessible. They have motorbikes for rent, breakfast is nice and fresh.

The host family were some of the kindest people I ever met. They spent hours helping me getting my phone fixed and buying tickets and continuosly offered free snacks and fresh fruits. The room itself had the nicest view of the small lake and the surrounding mountains. Quiet and clean place to relax.

We felt at home with Phuong and her family, but still enjoyed the privacy. Phuong lovingly took care of everything, greeted us with fresh fruit, lent us her scooter, took us to the bus and even invited us to her son's birthday dinner (which we unfortunately had to decline). In the evening she and her husband prepared a fantastic barbecue for us, with seafood and great Vietnamese pancakes. The coffee for breakfast was also tasteful. The location of the accommodation is beautiful and we were glad that we did not stay in busy Cat Ba.

Likes: The hostess is super friendly and caring, easy to communicate in English.
The room has everything you need for a comfy stay.
Easy to rent a bike to get around Cat Ba.
Location is quiet, charming little street next to a lake.

Dislikes. The mosquitoes loved me and being next to a lake, they had a buffet. Make sure you have lots of mosquito repellent.
You will need to rent a bike as it is about 7minute drive outside the center of town.

For people who want a more quiet stay on the edge of Cat Ba town, and looking for value for money.

Amazing place!!! We enjoyed our stay in Corner CatBa.
The room is overviewed to an amazing lake, it's super quite there. The place is located not far from the city (~5 min by scooter), what makes this place quite and comfortable. Also you can rent a scooter there. The family owned this place is gorgeous: welcoming, always smiling and ready for help. Also they have 2 animals (cat and dog), also friendly and cute. The room was amazingly clean and cozy! There is a aroma lamp, what was unusual and good addition for a cozy evenings. WiFi works very good, without issues.
Highly recommend you this place during your stay on Cat Ba.

I would probably say that this was one of my favourite places to stay in Vietnam. It’s located on a quiet side road so you have a stunning, undisturbed view of the lake and the mountain and also close enough to the centre so that it takes only 5 minutes by motorbike to get there.

It’s the perfect place to stay if you want to avoid tourists but still want good access to Halong Bay.

Also a special thank you to the hosts, who were magnificent. I am Vietnamese myself so it was really nice to have authentic food cooked for us every morning. We were also able to rent their motorbike for short rides. I highly recommend this place to stay if you are wanting to visit the region.

A hidden gem close to the city center but also kinda remote with lakeview included. The owners are so friendly, breakfast was good and the rooms were clean and comfy. My advice; stay here instead of in the busy/loud area.

Best place to stay in Cat Ba. If you are looking for a quite and peaceful atmosphere than you should spend your holiday at this place. No noise of vehicles, no loud music .... No stress and pet friendly. The landlord is just amazing, friendly and helpful. I will come back for sure. Thank you for the wonderful time.

We stayed in three different places in Cat Ba, Corner Cat Ba was definitely the best one. Located 5 min from the city center with a nice view on a little lake so just perfect. Very nice and cosy and perfectly clean. Breakfast included. The owners have a great sense of hospitality. Highly recommended.
