Super cute vintage sandwich shop located in Hyde park. They have a very nice patio outside with picnic tables. It was closed when I got there but I will definitely be back to get a sandwich at the super cute vintage sandwich shop.

Amazing looking place, an experience of classic Austin on a quiet street under shady trees. Loved the Queen B veggie & cheese sandwich. Looking forward to going again soon.

Aug 2023 Update: Always a great experience! The customer service is top tier and the sandwiches just HIT THE SPOT! This time was Turkey, pepper Jack & veggies on grain. SOOO GOOD! Still highly recommend!

A perfect hidden-in-plain-sight gem! It’ll feel like you stepped back in time. This is definitely a must visit if you’re in the area. Service is super friendly and helpful… and the food is awesome. I had the roast beef with Swiss on sourdough all the way add horseradish… So so good. Highly recommend!

BEST SANDWICHES IN AUSTIN! Step back in time and enjoy Avenue B Grocery. This quaint historic century old store and sandwich shop is not only stocked with groceries and novelty items; this place makes fresh made to order sandwiches and has daily specials like homemade soup, chili and baked desserts. Local favorites are the King Ross sandwich and the homemade RPC pimento cheese sandwich. Fabulous! Add this to your sandwich bucket list for sure!

Just went here after living in the neighborhood for years and am kicking myself I didn't know about it sooner. The owner is so kind and gave my whining three year old a stuffed animal. Amazing music playing, good vibes, and reeeeeaallly good sandwiches that feel homemade in the best way. These places are so rare.

My mom and I had such a great experience while at Avenue B. We both shared the King Ross sandwich, and it was hot and delicious. It’s a super unique and eclectic setting that sets it apart from other restaurants in the area. For sure a must try! :)

Best Home Made sandwiches and sides in Austin. The legitimate Old Neighborhood Store is legit. The store has been open for over 107 years. The owner, Russ, is a great guy.

Maybe the best sandwich I’ve ever had … good fresh ingredients and great bread! Then there are the brownies baked this morning. All this in a charming old grocery in a beautiful neighborhood.

The owner Ross greeted us out front and gave us the tour and history of the place which has been locally run and operated since 1915. The place has a magical charm. My wife had his homemade pimento cheese sandwich and I got the special. Both were so dang good. We have found such a treasure and look forward to many happy returns to this wonderful place.

Ross is a hoot, and the sandwiches of Avenue B are a simple pleasure I can get behind. I usually opt for the special of the day.

I was in the mood for a sandwich that was in walking distance to where I was staying, and I happened upon this in my Google search. I am glad I did. The moment I unwrapped my king combo sandwich, I knew I was experiencing something special. The first bite elevated the experience to mythical levels.

The service was great too. Ross, the owner, was great to talk with. I got a very "kind soul" vibe from him.

At the time I visited, he was also holding a patio sale out back where you could purchase antiques, toys, and vintage clothes, which I enjoyed checking out.

Avenue B is a small mom and pop business, that serves consistently great tasting sandwiches. I have enjoyed their food for more than a decade. The place is set in an old neighborhood grocery store, so it's easy to drive past without realizing it until you have. There is picnic style seating and tables on the south side of the building, a wonderful place to dine at lunchtime. I strongly suggest calling before going as the owners take time off from time to time.
