Cute little shop with a ton of items! We got a bottle of local chunk honey (a piece of honeycomb in a jar of liquid honey), a bottle of regular local honey, a 4" square of local honeycomb, and a small piece of chocolate covered honeycomb (not local). The only thing we won't get again is the chocolate covered honeycomb as it just wasn't as good as the other items. Can't wait to try some more items once these are gone!

Fabulous place for beekeepers and lovers of bees and honey. The owner was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, she was extracting honey while were there and explained what she was doing. There were lots of different kinds of honey and all sorts of accessories and tools for a Beekeeper for sale.

All things bees and honey! My go to for local, raw unfiltered honey. But don't stop there! Mead, wine, home goods, jewelry & bee keeping supplies. Shop owners are incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly.

For such a particular specialty product, I come here quite frequently! All things honey related and more. Normal and flavored honey, sure, but also beeswax products, mead/cider/wine, soaps, snacks, cute kitchen gear, and even hive supplies with a live hive to look at! Highly recommend a stop for tourists and locals alike.

A beautiful and well-provisioned shop. Great for tourists and locals alike! As a tourist, you can enjoy the beautiful mural, peruse well curated bee and honey items (like honey, candles, body care products, household products). As a local (or a tourist with extra time!), you can take beekeeping classes and become an amateur beekeeper.

The owner is a wonderful and friendly lady. She can explain the history of her shop and answer bee-related questions. As someone who has been part of the community for a decade, she can also offer suggestions if you ask. Definitely a place worth visiting, don’t miss it!

Great little shop for both those that want to buy honey and bee based products in all sorts of forms and supplies/bees for beekeepers alike. They have an enclosed hive in the shop that is really interesting to look at. They are really kid friendly. They even arrange visits to local schools, libraries, and other places of that sort to educate kids about bees and beekeeping. They bring an enclosed hive with them for those visits which kids love. They also offer classes for aspiring beekeepers. Great addition to the greater Portland community.

The Honey Exchange is my favorite shop in all of Portland! Lovely gifts, tasty local honey, delicious wines, and run by amazing good people who care deeply about their community. It's also THE hub for local beekeepers - I learn something new about honey bees every time I step in and I love running into my fellow bee nerds <3

A wide array of bee, beeswax, and honey themed items that make great gifts, and of course, a wide selection of honeys including many local raw unfiltered options. Plus, everyone that works here is so nice and helpful- I love this little shop! Check out the backyard beekeeping in the summer.

A unique store for all things honeybee! A very cool shop with beekeeping supplies and books, an eye-opening selection of local and global honey (including a tasting bar!), beeswax candles, awesome gifts, and a small but excellent selection of wine, wine and beer. Even a live, in-store hive! The owners are always there and you may catch them teaching a beekeeping class, extracting honey, or inspecting one of their backyard hives.

The Honey Exchange is a welcoming little neighborhood store in the heart of Deering Center. My two-year-old son loves going to watch the bees, and the folks who run it always take the time to pay him special attention. Each time we go, we learn a little more about bees and honey. It's a friendly little shop that I would highly recommend visiting.

I love this place! I regret not visiting before my last day in Maine. The shop is so cute and yellow! The lady was very nice and helpful. I learned a lot about the process and flowers. I can’t wait to try these with my mom!

Top notch service, equipment and advice from a friendly, supportive, experienced staff. Quality beekeeping equipment and supplies at prices comparable to what you find online, if not less expensive. They also offer classes. Can't say enough about this place.

I came to the honey exchange for to do their “hour with a beekeeper”— basically an in depth, hands-on lesson about bees. Phil taught us SO MUCH about bees, showed us many different hives, let us hold a frame full of bees! At end of it, they set up a honey tasting for us to really get a sense of the subtle differences in taste. Meghan even threw in a little birthday gift from the gift shop! Learned so much and had a great time. The “hour with a beekeeper” would make an excellent gift for any aspiring beekeeper in your life.

Wonderful beekeeping supplies, honey products and some gift items. But the real star here is the knowledgeable and super nice staff, especially if you keep bees. A great place all around.

The owners are amazing! The shop has everything beekeepers need to maintain hives and bees as well as having a honey extraction system. They help small beekeepers keep in the loop and support them completely. Their hive observation is fascinating.
