This is one of those gems for a beer lover. They have a great selection of wines, ciders, and some meads too. But what makes John’s special is the amazing selection of beer. If you’re looking for something specific or something special, John’s has you pretty well covered. From all over the world, they have a good selection of imports. Row after row of craft beers. Plenty local, plenty from elsewhere in the Country. What’s really great is their huge selection of singles, so you can really try a huge variety of beers without breaking the bank. Hop on over to John’s, and at yeast check it out, you malt like it!

What more can you ask for then a Beer store (bottle shop style) the size of a supermarket that has a kitchen/grill with amazing smash burgers (that’s all I’ve tried)…

Tasty casual comfortable with a very fun kind of atmosphere. The availability of all the beverages in the background is astounding as well as the fact you can pull beverages from the shelves and pay alongside your meal and have said beverages with your meal.

John’s has such an insane selection. Such a big selection that it can sometimes be overwhelming… but the kind staff and renovated layout of the store has made it much easier to find something that appeals to me and anyone I bring in here. If you’re in the neighborhood, this is where you should be getting your drinks.

Easily the best burger in the metro area. They make a smash burger but like anything in Portland. That is not true. It is an almost smash burger more like a pressed burger does not have the lacey char or anything that makes a good smash burger. Also second best burger in Oregon. Junkyard is better. No this burger does not compare to smash burgers in Los Angeles.

Best kept lunch secret in Multnomah Village! Their deli sandwiches and burgers are so good. Way better than you'd think from a wine and beer shop! They have a great selection of non-alcoholic drinks to go with lunch including kombucha, CBD drinks, and specialty sodas. They also have ice cream bars, chips, and snacks. All this on top of their massive beer, cider, and wine selection. They even have a whole gluten free beer section.

this is my happy place.
consistently wonderful staff and the best selection of beverages in town.
I've been coming here for close to 10 years now. It's a little outta the way but it's always worth it.

Loved this place! Tons of craft beer, a deli/grill/restaurant inside. Offers inside and outside seating. Aisles and aisles of beer, coolers and coolers of craft singles and 4 packs. Plus they have a parking lot, making it easy to stop by and grab some beer.

John's was the first beer destination I became aware of when I moved to Portland over 30 years ago. They've now expanded to the other side of the river as well, but the Multnomah Village flagship remains a worthwhile stop. My most recent visit had a specific local beer in mind, and was happily browsing when an employee asked if I needed help. He was able to immediately point out an aisle that I hadn't made it to yet, so I was able to quickly accomplish my specific goal, and return to happily exploring - I found multiple variations of a fairly uncommon beer from the East Coast to add to my purchases.
A wonderful ergonomic touch is having multiple stacks of handbaskets in different parts of the store, making it easy to buy more beer without having to walk all the way back to the entrance.
Although it's much easier to find good beer than it used to be, John's remains among my top 3 choices when I want something special

A mecca for beer enthusiasts, John’s Marketplace in Multnomah Village, Portland is truly a treasure trove waiting to be discovered. This place is more than just a liquor store, it’s a vibrant celebration of the rich world of beers, craft and otherwise.

The selection of beers at John’s is simply outstanding, with an eclectic mix from well-known breweries to small, obscure craft producers. The shelves brim with unique, hard-to-find options that would delight any serious beer aficionado. Even the non-alcoholic selection impresses, catering wonderfully to those who love the taste but prefer to steer clear of the alcohol.

What really caught my eye was the Yuzu Ginger beer from Japan. This beer was a delight to the senses, with its tantalizing blend of citrusy yuzu and spicy ginger. Truly, a world-class beer that has to be experienced.

Adding to the overall charm is the lively beer garden. A wonderful communal space where beer-lovers can gather, sample some fine brews, and share their passion with like-minded individuals. It was a joy to sit out in the sunshine, sipping on a cold one, and just soaking up the atmosphere.

In essence, John’s Marketplace is an ode to the love of beer. With its vast selection, welcoming beer garden, and the clear passion that goes into curating the beer selection, it’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates a good brew. We had an amazing time and will definitely be returning to uncover more liquid gold from their extensive selection.

Stopped by to do can and bottle refund, employees were available, polite, helpful, and friendly, as always. These guys will accept bottle returns up to 72(so $7.20 worth), hand counted by you in the front of the store. Always quick, easy, and they never make me feel like I'm totally ruining their day. I know that sounds a little dramatic, but a lot of stores seem to have gotten pretty resentful of folks turning in recycling lately, so it's really nice not having to deal with the weird guilt trip you can recieve for recycling of all things, haha, just saying. Thank you John's, always appreciate you guys being you guys!
Oh, P.S. - They stop accepting bottle returns at 7pm.

Great Burgers and Brandie, who was ruunning the counter, added a lot of fun to our quick stop for a burger. I suggest the "Dirty Steak Sandwich" it was fantastic! It was fun to go shop for chips and additional ciders to have with our dinner 👍😁. Great selection of cider! Downside, it was a little chilly eating our sandwiches...

Far and away the largest selection of beers and ciders of any bottle shop that I've ever been to. Staff is incredibly helpful. Knowledgeable and they know where to find everything you're looking for. (If you try finding certain bottles on your own, you'd get lost. The place is that big.) The outside looks like an ordinary convenience store, but inside...heaven!

Great selection of beers, ciders, beers, wine, and definitely beers. I do my gift shopping here and never get any complaints. Get something that your friends can't get away from home, or so they thought.

Wow. I don't drink or know much about beers, but this must be a beer lover's paradise! Lager? Pale ale?, hard cider?, stout?or wine? So much variety.

This place exceeded expectations!! We came for the beer but stayed for the grilled cheese and tomato bisc! Not the kind of place where I would expect the food to be so good but it might be the best grilled cheese I've ever had. I would highly reccomend this place!

Beer (and wine) heaven. What more can I say? Good food, friendly atmosphere, smash burgers and the Reuben rock the house. What's not to like?
