Basics Market - Hillsdale

I really enjoy having this convenient and high quality store in my neighborhood. And, their buyer does a great job sourcing Gluten Free foods so folks with Celiac have nice options.

I make the drive up the hill weekly since the closure of the Farmington store. I'm totally hooked on the fresh, local goodies.

I love the guys who work here, they are awesome and so helpful. The meat products are excellent, I just wish they consistently had more in stock! They used to have pork shoulder and chicken breast all the time, but now they are hardly ever in stock when I come to shop. I want to buy your products! Gimme the meat please! 😭😆😁

Not sure what happened with the co-op grocery that used to be in this location...but the Basics Market is amazing! The employees are very nice and the selection of produce and products is more than you would expect for such a small location. The deli section has a great array of delicious offerings, and I routinely grab something ready-made for after shopping. The meat offerings as well are SO GOOD. Great local grocery. I have continued to come in weekly for 6 weeks now. :)

We love Basics! Their meat is fantastic. Everything has been great - ground beef for the best burgers ever, ribs, lamb merguez sausage, whole chicken, the list goes on. The prices on meat are really reasonable, too. I’ve always had exceptionally friendly service, even during this stressful quarantine time and even when I take too long deciding at the meat counter. We love this local business!

Nothing but good things to say. I feel like I have found a little gem and almost don’t want to write a good review because I like the fact that it’s not totally packed all the time—-but still their produce is fresh, Customer Service is amazing and they have everything anyone could need. All of the staff are SUPER friendly (never inappropriate as one review mentioned) and personable...super open and inclusive and you can tell the staff are happy to work there, which says a lot doe the company. But equally as important, great products and prices. They carry all the quality products I expect to feed my family with, but also have competitive pricing unlike some of our other favorite boutique markets we frequent....or used to!!!

Prices were decent in the exception of bags. I'm an avid walker and asked for a bag to carry more of my items and all I got was a small paper bag.
All and all a good market to shop when you're visiting and doesn't drive.
All and all a neat store and quality are fairly better but prices are high though.

Basics Hillsdale opened just before the pandemic shutdown of 2020. I was drawn to shop here because it was easy to get in and out quickly, the high quality of products and friendly, helpful staff. In the past year it has only improved, selection is much better and the staff even more helpful. Prices are reasonable given the convenience and quality. Very happy with Basics and hopeful they will remain in Hillsdale for a long time.

Very happy with this place and love shopping here! It’s not huge and is very well edited, I always find what I need. They even have an excellent wine selection. Everything is clean and fresh, it’s well lit, prices are good, senior discount on Wednesdays and I don’t have to walk a mile inside a building to get what I need. Great job, Basics, thank you!

This is a solid grocer. Competitive prices (sometimes very low prices), great selection for a small store, and everything is high quality. Consistently pleased with the meat, I pretty much only buy chicken here and just got some ribeyes that were fantastic (and a good price).

I'm a huge fan of the butcher counter at this location. They make their own sausage, their meat is sourced locally, and everyone I've interacted with at this store has been friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Definitely not my first choice when on a tight budget or shopping for staples, but if you want ingredients for a special meal, a stellar steak, fresh cut charcuterie, or lamb, Basics rocks. Their verde chorizo is delicious, and they have these half beef/half pork belly burger patties sometimes that are decadent as heck.

I discovered this gem recently after moving into the Hillsdale neighborhood. Friendly, compact, has everything, good wine selection, even sliced brioche bread. Prices, convenience — all good.

Love this market! Looking forward to the remodel being done. This place is small but mighty- a great asset to the community. Hope they are successful and stick around for a very long time!

I love Basics Hillsdale. Shopping is tricky for our family as we have a family member with a great deal of food sensitivities. Basics stocks an incredible variety of certified gluten-free, low FODMAP and other allergy friendly brands. Prices are comparable to bigger supermarkets. Every time I shop here I am reminded how lucky we are to have this store in Hillsdale. We've cycled through a lot of stores in this space, and Basics is far and away the best.

I'm in there of couple times each week.

Best grocery store ever! No more big chains for me! Fresh fruit & veggies and local meats! Awesome deli selections! Fresh! Yum! Best dairy milk!!!!!!! Local, too!

Such a great store, fantastic meat selection and don’t miss the amazing chicken salad wraps at the deli. Such a friendly place!

I wasn't at this store for very long, but when I was there the staff was friendly and had the snack I was looking for while waiting to buy something from someone in the nearby parking lot. Seemed to have a nice selection of beer too.
