Navigating the aisles of K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City feels a bit like being a kid in a candy store, but for adults with a penchant for fine wines and spirits. Situated on 3005 El Camino Real, this store has become my go-to sanctuary when the call of bourbons, ryes, and whiskies beckons. And let's face it, it beckons quite often!

Their selection is a masterclass in variety and quality. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a curious beginner, there's something here to tickle your palate. And if you're anything like me, with a particular fondness for bourbons, then you're in for a treat. Each bottle feels like an invitation to embark on a unique taste journey, and I've embarked on quite a few thanks to K&L.

However, every rose has its thorn. The online ordering system can sometimes feel like it's aged a bit too long in the barrel. Fulfillment takes its sweet time, often leading me to visit the store directly. It's a good excuse to browse their shelves, but a quicker online process would be the cherry (or should I say, the 'aged cherry') on top.

A shout-out to the San Francisco location as well. It's more expansive, offering an even broader array of choices. If the Redwood City store is a novella of fine spirits, the SF one is a full-fledged epic.

In sum, K&L Wine Merchants is a libation library that I'd recommend to anyone. My gentle feedback to the management: Let's speed up that online ordering, so we can toast to efficiency too! Best wine shop in the Bay Area. I've been shopping here for over 20 years. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fantastic wine-tasting events on-site on weekends. It's tough to find a larger selection of wines both domestic and international at these prices.

Great selection at very fair prices. Much better than you’re gonna get at the chain stores Every person in here knows wine. You can ask any question about wine and most spirits, and if the person you ask isn’t confident with their expert knowledge on the topic, they will bring over another colleague, who is. I have trusted my wine selection to K&L for 20 years and have never had any regrets! Forget the big box stores - go with K&L.

Can't say enough good things about K&L. My favorite store for every wine occasion, whether buying for my own consumption, for a gift, or for a holiday gathering. As a wine noob, I really love the detailed staff reviews on the site and hope they add the option for customers to take notes on the wine they've purchased. I appreciate that they make wine accessible but also clearly care about delivering quality and value. The option to order online and pick-up in store is also amazing.

Big wine store in San Francisco! Hugh inventory and good selection! Parking convenient and staffs are friendly! Only minus point is that they do not have too many top wives ( first growth) in stock! Recommended

Absolutely the place to go to for great wines and prices.. very seriously! Global wines with a great selection of californian plus plus into washington etc.. And the Aussie wines are some of the cheapest u have seen may even be cheaper then Aus itself. But the focus really is on Cab Sav. Got an Stag Leap Armetis for less than 50.. got their recommended Turnbull and Chris was a great help. He worked in aus and Napa before.. thanks Chris for great recommendations..😄😄

Incredible selection of wine and bourbon. All honest pricing at MSRP. Some of the harder to find stuff stacked up.

Cool wine and spirits shop that has a good selection of almost everything. The individual name Scott was very friendly and helpful. I was able to find a bottle that I liked and hopefully will be able to come here again next time I'm in the area.

You will not find a better experience in the city - or in the Peninsula - or in the rest of the Bay - and I'm darn well sure you could spend your life searching before managing to find a better experience in the state. K&L consistently has the finest selection, pricing, and customer service around. Make the trip.

Best local wine warehouse. So grateful for their multiple locations, knowledgeable soms, and epic selection for all budgets. I have their wine club for myself and my office and both have been customizable and have introduced me to some of my favorite wines.

K&L has the best selection and prices of wines & spirits I have found in San Francisco! I looked up and visited many other spirits stores in the area looking for good “hard-to-find” bourbon for decent prices… K&L not only had the best selection, but also the best prices. Bottles such as Sazerac - 6 yr., Old Forester “1910”, Eagle Rare, McKenzie Bottled-In-Bond, and E.H. Taylor Small Batch are either impossible to find, not sold, or sold as a lottery at Virginia ABC stores, but sold here at K&L for ≈ $6 cheaper than VA retail.

To top it off, K&L has a super friendly and knowledgable staff who is happy to “talk shop”, which in this case is the devil’s nectar! Order online for local shipping or pickup and they will pull the order off the shelves. Their website’s “Real Time Inventory” is never more than 5 minutes old, but act quick!

Best liquor store in SF, by far. Cheaper than Bevmo, yet has a more premium selection

Great selection and super helpful unpretentious staff. The guy who helped me listened to what I was looking for and suggested perfect fits. It was also fun to geek out on wine with someone who loves it but was not snobby.

Easy parking (mega-important in SF), friendly folks, highest quality products, great prices. For decades, these folks have been a go-to for me.

I absolutely loved this wine shop - wanted to buy some small produce awesome Californian pinots to take back to Japan with me and I found many at great prices - was difficult to choose as the selection was huge.

I admit that I rarely drink wine nowadays, but when I do, I get it at K&L. I have been a customer of theirs since they had the smaller store on 4th Street. Their selection and prices are almost unbeatable. What's more, these people know their wines! I've purchase exceptional vintages based on their expertise. They are also the only place in SF that you can get some vintages. I buy for friends and family on a regular basis. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The store also has a good selection of quality spirits. I've discovered some lovely bourbons and ryes based on recommendations. This is the best wine shop in the city!

Great place. Expect someone to greet you. Ask questions. These guys all have an incredible wealth of information about the wine in their store. Check their website and read up on their story - it's a great one! I wish I could travel the world tasting and procuring wine for them!

K&L is one of the treasures of SF: great and wide selection of wines and knowledgeable staff. Prices are competitive with big chains.
