They are always great, we get our halal chicken thigh from there it’s always in stock

Nice selection of some good quality imported items. Love the drinkable yogurt, ginger beer, jams, cookies, candies, and spices. Sometimes they have camel milk too which is fun to try. Store is small, clean and the staff is friendly.

Awesome little authentic African grocery. They have teff flour, which was what I needed to make injera bread. They also sell injera from the Ethiopian restaurant, Gursha, down the street.

Love this place! Great selection & VERY friendly staff. He (without asking) helped me carry some heavy groceries out to my car, as I had two young children with me. Also, my husband and I have been looking for Fava beans everywhere & this was the only place we could find them! Will definitely be going back!

Excellent ethnic spices, very helpful and kind staff. One of the things we have been looking for all over Des Moines was goat meat, we have searched many grocery stores, but Hilal grocer was the first place we found that had what we wanted. Any Curry or Indian spices you are looking for, this place will have.

Small store, but a large selection of Middle Eastern and African foods. The staff is friendly and always willing to help with questions. The shop is clean and tidy, and the prices are great too.

Hilal Groceries is a one stop shop for everything and anything you need. The owners are extremely nice and the store is very organized and clean. The Hilal chicken is the best. If you haven't had a chance to stop by, please do so and you won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for spices, cheeses, halal meat, prepared foods & breads from a range of cuisines. I found injera & naan as well as phyllo dough. Bulgarian feta cheese, paneer, & labneh along with a large assortment of other cheeses from northern Africa, the Mediterranean, Middle East, Indian & Pakistan. I was able to get harissa for a Moroccan lamb tagine; paneer & spices to make palak paneer from northern India; & baklava.

The variety is great & the staff are so incredibly nice. If you can't find something, they can help & make suggestions for dishes you want to make. They are also willing to order specific foods if customers frequently request them.

It's a small store with huge variety.

I was very disappointed going to the other halal grocery stores in the area. I didn't buy anything from them. But then I came here and everything was clean and had a lot of variety. Looked great. Great staff. Stayed well over the closing time to accommodate me.

Wonderful market with a family feel. I love shopping here. They have everything you need. Super friendly and helpful whenever you need help finding anything. Best shop in Des Moines, in my opinion!

This place is amazing. I came here to buy food for my Turkish family and the staff was very nice and video chatted with my family to get everything they needed. They also will ship to your house so we will be ordering from them again soon!
