European Gourmet & Deli

We had a great time at European Gourmet & Deli. Our grocery haul: pierogis, cheese bread, spices, candies, rye bread, pickles and more! We spent just over a hundred dollars on this and the owner told us to pick another chocolate bar for free. She also insisted we taste the carrot salad to make sure we liked it before we bought- it’s delicious. Varying prices - which is standard for imported goods! Check this place out and stock up!

Reading these negative comments, I get the impression that the people who comment are very malicious or fake! Whenever I shopped here, I was always greeted by two smiling women who were very kind! The prices are decent and, unlike other European shops, much cheaper! I don't understand people who buy something that is expensive for them and then come home and complain about it. All recommendations!!!

This store has a good selection of all the Eastern European goodies that I would normally have to go to Brooklyn to find. The service is only friendly and they’ve done what they can to demonstrate that they’re don’t support the Russian government (have taken down anything with the words Russia in it).

Great shop. My wife is from Rostov-on Don and we live in Old Town just minutes away. We both spent years living in Kiev Ukraine. I love the variety the shop offers; it reminds me of Kiev and I love the sweet babushka there. I'm learning Russian and the wonderful lady forces me to practice while in the shop. The smoked meats are my favorite, reminds me of the outdoor farmers market in Kiev. Highly recommend.

Great little local store, some people are saying the staff only speaks Russian.... well you're at a Russian grocery store so... what did you expect? They're very friendly and helpful! Great selection for those looking for some classic Russian staples. They also have fantastic Polish cookies!

I'm not Russian or eastern European, but it looks like they have a nice selection of goodies. Price for taramasalata is much higher than at the Atilla grocery store. But if you want wonderful breads, cheeses, cold cuts, pickles, & preserves dishes, come here! The cakes looked to die for!! Parking was easy across the street.

The Ukrainian Perogie dumplings were sooo delicious! The cashier kindly helped me find the product that suited my interests. I will definitely come back for more.

Best place for shopping and positive ladies!

A lot of people mentioned the staff being rude or only speaking Russian or other things but I found them to be reasonably helpful and speaking English to most guests. The store is small but jam packed with great stuff from books and calendars to tshirts and all kinds of food plus beer.

This has been my secret gem for many many years. The original location is in McLean and a few years back they opened another one in Del Ray (Alexandria).
They sell the best black bread. It's hearty and healthy with no additives.
They also sell buckwheat which is of the healthiest form of grain one could eat.
For those who want a great quick dinner when they get home, go for the frozen chicken and veal pelmeni. Just boil them for 3 minutes and you have yourself a quick lunch or dinner.
Russian gourmet also offers a fantastic selection of natural remedies that include extracts that treat stress. Believe me when I tell you they work.

Very cute little grocery store. Clean, everything is available, even medicine. Prices are reasonable. The sales lady at the counter is very friendly. Me and my American husband left with good impression:) Recommend it.

I definitely recommend this Deli-store, especially if you're into Eastern European products (which are hard to find).
