I LOVE this place. The proprietor is friendly, can make helpful suggestions, and tests the quality of the toys. He only stocks games and toys that meet his standards. They also have a good selection of games for a variety of ages, including cooperative games, and their recommendations were spot on.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas they're open everyday, generally at least until 7 (later if there are customers) and you can request an appointment.

One Two Kangaroo is not just a toy store; it's a cherished part of my life. Having been in business for so long, this gem in the heart of Shirlington, has been my go-to for quality toys and gifts for as long as I can remember.

Charlie, the owner, is a true maestro in the world of toys. His knowledge is encyclopedic, and he seems to have an uncanny ability to recommend the perfect toy for any child. It's not just a store; it's an experience curated by someone who genuinely cares about the joy toys bring to children.

One Two Kangaroo has become a staple in the community, and for me, there's no other toy store that even comes close. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Although it's a tiny store it's packed full of great gifts. I've price checked a few things I'm interested in and they don't overcharge for anything that I have liked. Lots of great wooden toys and unique gifts for birthdays when you don't know what a child already has. I love shopping here for birthday parties, and my daughter!

I've been here twice and both times found lots of great gifts and had a wonderful experiance with staff. They also have great taste in the music they play in store.

This place is amazing! It is a small store but there is an incredible selection since they restock daily. The owner is very knowledgeable about all his products - and children and their development. He told us his philosophy is to stock toys that all have some educational or developmental component. I really appreciate his curated selection, especially since it is overwhelming to pick good quality toys now. Overall, will definitely be coming back, and feel lucky to have stumbled across this gem of a store!

I visit this toy shop about 10x a year. When you walk in, it’s like you’ve entered a place of pure joy——like when the Beast shows Belle the library. That kind of joy. They have something for kids of all ages starting at newborn (I like the 1,000 piece puzzles and board games).

The owners are great at providing suggestions based on a child’s age and even personality. On more than one occasion I needed to stick to a budget, so the owner helped me find the perfect gifts and stay within that budget. These are not gifts you can find in your local retail store. They are quality gifts, and because of that + small business, they can be pricey, so keep that in mind as you explore the shop.

A must visit when in Shirlington.

They have great toys that my kids love. A lot of the toys here are ones that are not sold in the larger “big box” retailers. Charlie (the owner) is a fantastic person and is always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

This toy store is a gem. It is tiny and filled floor to ceiling with nothing but fabulous high quality toys and games. We have shopped there for years. The owner is a kindly man who knows his toys and games as well as children and parents. Our kids are older now but he still has great games and puzzles for them and us. You receive very personalized attention here from someone who knows. Although I love amazon as much as the next person, shopping here is a wonderful experience and worth the trip!

The store is small and does not stand out among the numerous restaurants and shops of Shirlington and it only has a few rooms but it is literally packed floor to ceiling with toys for all ages. The shop clerk was passionate and happy to go thru the stores wares to help me find the right toy for my nephews fist birthday.

The selection is excellent with a wide variety of toys that range from the toy sets and vehicles to puzzles that start from a few months thru toddlers and older. The store offers gift wrapping as a service and it is wonderful to walk out with a toy freshly wrapped after browsing thru their selection. I have made it a point to tell my family about this store and i will happily make this my first choice to shop at in the future.

Delightful! I can't remember the last time I was in a store that sparked actual delight. It is so fun to be in a toy store with an owner that cares so much and thoughtfully picks out each toy and book. I recognized many of the premier brands (Hape, Haba, Magna-tiles, etc) that make toys my kids use over and over. I got several personalized recommendations for birthday presents from the owner's sister who was watching the store. The prices are fair and they do have toys at all price levels. For me, if there was any little extra it was worth it for the vanishing experience of joy and expert assistance, along with knowing I am supporting a local business that was hurt badly in the pandemic. Worth the trip!

Our 3 year old happily enjoyed playing with a construction toy set with dad while mommy shopped for alphabet learning toys. Although this store is cozy, it's packed full of interesting, educational and just plain fun toys. The man who was working was charming and very helpful. We felt so welcome. Our son didn't want to leave. Prices are reasonable for the most part.

Best independent toy store in the area (also been around for quite awhile). They have the best of hands-on toys, STEAM, puzzles, books, puppets, etc. It's a tight squeeze sometimes, but there's always something good to find.

They have unique toys that you don't have in the regular chain toy stores. Frequented by rich grandparents. Small and wonderful.

You're wondering what "6 or 8" means? They close early if there is bad weather and nobody is out shopping.

This store is my absolute favorite children's store. I've been going there for years and always leave happy that I stopped in. The owner, Charlie, is the kindest, most helpful man. The selection of toys are high-quality and well curated. Whether you're shopping for your own children or have no idea what to get for a friend's child or relative, please go support this local, small business. Charlie will point you in the right direction but with no pressure or upselling. If you're not already convinced, there's also free and adorable gift wrapping!

This is the greatest toy store in the area--extremely wide selection of well curated, high-quality toys from all over the world. The owner is so knowledgeable and kind and helpful everyone who comes in find the appropriate gift or toy for their little one. I'm trying to find a way to get at least a gift certificate for this store during the COVID19 crisis because nothing would make be sadder than if our favorite toy store closed.

This is the best toy store in the area. The selection is highly cultivated and the owner makes EXCELLENT reccomendations. My son has loved every toy from here more than I expected. Also their prices beat Amazon. If you need a gift for a child, this is the best place to find it.
