Hands down one of the top places to eat in San Marcos, really busy but worth the wait and prices are awesome. My personal fav is the Herbert's special. Only complaint is the salsa is really spicy so wait till you get your drink to dig in!

Hands down the best Mexican food I've ever tasted. Been eating Herberts since I was a child. The best queso and they hav big red soda too.

I have been to Herberts multiple times and have always really enjoyed the food and service. I enjoy the cheese enchilada plate and the specials are always great as well. A great place with good prices!

I think the locals are keeping this a secret because it's the best Mexican food we have had in a long time . A neighborhood cafe that's easy to find. Good value, good portions.

Flour tortillas are home made. They aren't skimpy on portions. Friendly service. Sweet tea is also very good.

1960s Tex-Mex at 1960s prices. I swear the chili gravy for the cheese enchildas is laced with one of the most addicting drugs known to man. The salsa is the fieriest salsa in central Texas, but is 2nd to none.

Have to come to this place if you are in SM. It is an icon of SM. Get the cheese enchiladas. Perfect when you get done floating the SM river.
