Le Chalet Basque Restaurant

Enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner at Le Chalet Basque Restaurant and the atmosphere and service and food we all incredible! It was intimate enough so you didn't miss that family feeling going out to dinner on Thanksgiving. We had eight in our party and we were very comfortable at the table. There was chatter and laughter and I really can't say enough about this beautiful neighborhood Basque Restaurant. I can't wait to go back for a lunch and sit on their patio. We had drinks before dinner in the bar and it was such a nice feeling just relaxing and chatting before our reservation was ready. If you are in the area it is a must!

Hadn't been there for years. Hadn't changed a bit! Romantic atmosphere, Good food and good wine! A bit pricey , but worth it.

I truly enjoyed the place! I found it pretty inexpensive for the quality of food. Main dishes about $35-40 but they come with big soup and salad. House wine (Chablis) was excellent, only $18 for a bottle.

My salmon piccata was excellent but husband said his chucked cordon blue was okay.

Our server was great but you can tell he was a bit stressed. Overalls great impression and I’ll be back for sure.

This restaurant does not get the attention it deserves after all the years it has served customers in Marin the way restaurants are supposed to. The environment is comfortable, the servers are hospitable and courteous, and the chef knows how to be a chef. It was a pleasure to eat there a few nights ago and will look forward to visiting again.

Returned after a few years and found the food, friendly atmosphere and staff to as good as I remember. Kelly was a very attentive bartender and we’ll be sure to return for many more great meals. Best wishes for continued success in the post pandemic world we’ll all be living in soon. Highly recommend Le Chalet as a great destination for a car and motorcycle club rides for lunch or dinner any day of the week they’re open.

Birthday dinner, table of 7 @7pm, the food ordered was oh so delicious! It was a busy night but their staff were impressive. 🙏eskerrik asko! from very satisfied diners, and, we will return to enjoy the rest of the items on the menu.

The food is always fantastic. Everything you try there is delicious. Highly recommend!

Went out for my birthday dinner, haven't been to this ristorante since Jan. 2020. Menu was a little smaller than it use to be, they still have my favorite dish chicken cordon blue. It was as good as it use to be. The pate is great too. Wonderful service, fantastic food. They need to put the chocolate Mousse back on the menu as it was the best.

Wonderful!! We had a little booth in the bar. Service was spot on and everyone was very nice. I started with the Escargot. Very tender and perfectly seasoned. My entree, Scampi a la Plancha was fabulous! Also flawless. And served with fresh spinach and au gratin potatoes. I wiped the plate clean with their sourdough bread! Excellent bar and beverage choices. A favorite!

The food is unbelievably delicious! I went with someone from France and they raved about how delicious and authentic the food was. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, we had such a wonderful time. Will be frequenting this location!

French country bistro I've visited a half-dozen times

I should have taken a food pic of the grilled lamb chops that were cooked to perfection. Visiting from Wa state and love to find these off the main local restaurants. Very charming and fun with great service, nice selection of wine, beer and mixed drinks to go with a delicious variety of French/Spanish European cuisine. Loved it!!!

We went out for the first time in a long time tonight, and we were able to find this WONDERFULLY delicious restaurant that offered outdoor dining. They were booked, keeping the 6 ft. distance between each table, but they offered to to add a table with a safe distance away to seat us. The soup was divine, the bread scrumptious (with a garlic option in the bread bowl), and the salad with their dressing was enough to have us ready for our fish and chicken entrees. Though we received some rather urgent family news and had to take our entrees to go, we were able to finish them this evening and they were well worth the wait! My salmon was beyond words amazing! My fiance's chicken was - and I quote - "cooked to perfection!" We will for sure be back, thank you to the amazing staff!

Wow that was great. Sweet breads and duck confit. Great burgundy and garlic distribution system (escargots). Flour less chocolate cake topped off a fantastic early dinner. We'll be back again soon.

You better not tell anybody about this place :-) it’s the best cat neighborhood restaurant in all of San Rafael! You also better not tell anybody that if you’re going to the symphony or an event at the Marin center this is the way to top off your evening with a wonderful home-cooked meal
