Salsa Verde is a lush stream in a culinary desert - serving refreshing and delicious food. I live locally and I usually skip the local/mostly seasonal eateries. The experience I had at this small restaurant has me eager to return to try more! I highly recommend their grilled chicken - the flavors are vibrant and the meat is a nice change from your typical dry-shredded chix. Their soft corn tortillas are lovingly prepared. I could drink the house made salsa. Basically - don’t settle for sad food when you can eat here and leave truly satisfied!

I had the pleasure of dining at this Mexican restaurant in Bar Harbor, and I must say it left a lasting impression. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance gave it a unique feel, more like a hearth than a traditional eatery.

The food was exceptional, showcasing the rich and authentic flavors of Mexican cuisine. Each dish was carefully prepared and bursting with taste. From the savory tacos to the mouthwatering enchiladas, it was a delightful culinary journey.

The cocktails were a standout feature, expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and precision. Sipping on these well-balanced concoctions added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

The attentive and friendly staff added to the positive experience, making us feel right at home.

In conclusion, if you're in Bar Harbor and craving authentic Mexican cuisine in a cozy and inviting setting, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Oh to have one of these margaritas again. They’re made from scratch with fresh ingredients and the perfect amount of kick! We chatted with one of the owners while we sat at the bar and he was incredibly kind and personable. Polished off our margaritas with delicious chips and salsa and homemade churros! This is a spot we’d absolutely return to right away when in Bar Harbor again!

We were in the mood for something different than lobster... We love Mexican cuisine, so when I checked the menu, I knew we should give it a try! I had the steak street tacos, model especial, and an elote (roasted corn, Mayonnaise, chili, and cotija cheese) and it was delicious! They make their own tortillas, the steak was seasoned, and the salsa was the perfect heat.

If I was told that one of the best Mexican restaurants I’d ever have, after having it in CA, AZ, NYC, and even Mexico would be in Bar Harbor, Maine, I would have thought I was being told a joke. My wife and I had dinner and drinks here and everything was outstanding. The margaritas were carefully crafted (had the opportunity to watch Trent make them for us) and perfectly balanced in flavor, they felt great too. The food was authentically and unapologetically (the hot salsa is HOT) New Mexican style with influence from Southern CA and Mexico. The overall experience and style was reminiscent of a home cooked meal. We had the opportunity to meet the family who owns and runs the restaurant and they were incredibly warm and genuine, if they’re not too busy, say hello and get to know them. We highly recommend everyone try this place out if you can get a seat as this will be a staple in Maine and the greater Northeast. Thank you again, Trent and Lisa!

A true mom and pop operation, we were served by a husband and wife, a son and a daughter. We also saw a grand child helping out!

The food was excellent. We started with chips and salsa and guacamole. The chips are nicely seasoned, we got two types of salsa to dip, one was medium green and the other was spicy. It was definitely spicy! The guacamole was made in house, chunky and tasty, with a little spiciness but not too much.

For mains I had street tacos. They were again, really nicely seasoned. I went for medium spicy chicken and added some of the spicy salsa from the chips to add a little heat.

My wife had the sopaipilla (I may have butchered that) with vegetables and rice. It was served with a side of refried beans and a bottle of squeezable honey. New to either of us, She loved it! The sopaipillas were soft and doughy (like deep fried flaky pastry) with pockets that you can stuff food into. Really good.

On top of it all, the mag héritas we ordered were amazing. I had the classic, it was made with Cointreau, lime, agave and I asked for mezcal. It was on point.

The owner was very friendly and a great host. We will go back.

So many things on the menu I wanted to try! Both the street tacos and enchiladas were amazing, they tasted so fresh. And I loved the decorations inside too. Definitely recommend!

I just want to say I grew up in New Mexico and i felt at home with your food, like I was back in New Mexico eating my friends moms home cooking. Amazing food, and authentic. I had New Mexico steak enchiladas, Christmas sauce, so good!

This place has the best margaritas in town and I wish I didn’t have to commute up and down the entire eastern seaboard to get here. Food is delicious and the staff is awesome.

If you go anywhere else for margs in bar harbor you are foolish.

Delicious food, amazing margaritas, and lovely owners. We had the chips and salsa, chicken enchiladas, and pomegranate margaritas. All fantastic! Then the chef brought out samples of their street corn- best I’ve ever had!! Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience. So happy to have you in town!

Go to their restaurant! One of the best Mexican places I’ve been too and I’ve been to a lot. Very authentic food. Chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Beans and rice were amazing. Very flavorful. Also great cocktails and margaritas. We got the corona sunrise and classic marg. Highly recommend!

You may have heard about this Mexican place opening up and talking about authenticity, and you may have been interested or curious. Is it really authentic? Is it really good? Is it worth the money?

Do you remember in the movie Ratatouille, when food critic Anton Ego takes a bite of the ratatouille and is left speechless and is transported back home? There you go. I was skeptical of trying another “authentic” Mexican place, because let’s be honest, it’s not easy to find that for real in Maine. We walked in on a busy Friday night and children were running around playing and helping. It’s a family business through and through. The music was loud and the people’s laughter was louder. The pomegranate Margarita was absolutely to delectable, and when the food came, I was cautiously optimistic. But just one bite in, and I was HOME.

The food is homemade in every sense of the word. You will not find canned beans here. It’s hot and flavorful and so filling. You leave here feeling like you’ve left your grandmothers house and she swears you’re “too skinny!”. I wish I had the words to explain truly how happiness is a sopapilla and perfectly cooked beans. They have some nice beers available and a Margarita of the month.

If you want fresh, local seafood- this is not the place. If you want food that will make you feel like home regardless of where you grew up or who you are, venture to Salsa Verde Grill and let them make you feel like family.

[vegetarian friendly] it’s an authentic, beautiful decorated and well managed family owned restaurant. The family that owns is very friendly, always ask for dishes to order and your preference before placing order and strike a conversation to know more about them. My family and our 2 year old loved this place.

What can I say. They get hospitality. I was camping in Acadia and didn't want to cook the last night I was there, so I went into Bar Harbor to treat myself. Boy was I in for something special. I was greeted right away. I sat at the bar. I ordered the chips and salsa (complimentary of your dining in) and the elote to start. They came out freshly fried I chose the medium salsa, they have three salsas to choose from. The elote was amazing, as you can see in the picture, probably the best I've had. I ordered the steak enchiladas and was asked if I wanted a fried egg on top. I said sure and I'm so glad I did. The egg was fried perfectly and the yolk added to the amazing flavor of the enchiladas. Haha down one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Definitely check them you won't be disappointed

We were visiting Bar Harbor from Nashville and discovered hidden gem in “lobster town”! Lot many people we needed a (brief) break from all the lobster we had eaten. We met the owner Lisa and she recommended her restaurant. Despite the fact that we had lunch about an hour earlier we stopped by. We intended to have a drink, but the menu intrigued us. We shared the Steak Street Tacos. They were excellent! I also had a Corona Sunrise. Trenton the other owner expertly made it for me. I fell in love. Not with Trenton although he was charming, but with my drink. The atmosphere was vibrant and colorful. Music made it even better (thanks Lisa!!!!). They do quite a bit of carry out business which for me is an indicator of how popular they are with the locals. Highly recommend Salsa Verde. Oh…we loved it so much we went back the next day and enjoyed some delicious guacamole😊.

I didn't expect to find good Mexican food in Bar Harbor, Maine, but this place was legit. The only potential bad thing is if you don't like spicy food. I loved it - medium spicy on my street tacos and hot spicy on the chips and salsa. But my kid found the mild salsa on the chicken street tacos to be too spicy. Even the chicken on it's own. Other kid found the steak and sopapiallas too spicy as well.
