Gear Library is the BEST place I never knew existed. Kyle worked with us in getting everything we needed for the perfect weekend, all for free (with a tip, of course). We were set up with a Thule bike hitch, mountain bike, helmet, and frisbee… but don’t let that stop you! EVERYTHING you could need for a weekend of adventuring is found at Gear Library.

And for any Roaring Fork Valley homeowners, donate your gently used gear here! This is the exact kind of place that every town should have, all about making the outdoors accessible for ALL!

It so unusual nowadays to meet initiatives like Gear Library. It is a great chance for the beginners like me and my wife to go for skiing without spending a fortune for a new gear.
Thanks to all donators and a friendly host for this opportunity.

This place is a lifesaver! We came out for the weekend with our bikes but forgot our helmets! Kyle was super patient as our family of 4 tried on different helmets and helped us sign up for a membership. This spot saved our trip and we are really appreciative of this service. The other gear they had was incredible and we look forward to using it again for another weekend visit.

The Gear Library is awesome! I have come several times and received tons of help in finding what I needed. It is great to be able to get gear, either for our family or if we have visitors. We love the the place and we are so grateful for this incredible idea that has come to life!

Gear library is the jam! How many times have I thought it would be so nice if something like this existed, well Kyle did it. I come back to visit Carbondale periodically and on the recent trip used gear library multiple times to style my kids out… and myself, with things I don’t have there, life jackets, paddle boards, long boards…. It was so nice. When we come back in winter I can check out skis.

It truly is a library and you can use it like one. It is not a rental shop. While of course you can donate there is no pressure to donate. Kyle the founder and the man who runs it is very chill and really wants it used as a library which is so nice. I really appreciate this service so much. And it is such a great way for all the excess gear of the valley to still be used.

So go use it! Or at least take your gear there to be used if you’re done with it.

Amazing place to get gear for your next adventure! Friends visiting from out of town? Outfit them with golf clubs, paddle boards, skis etc…
We are lucky to have this non profit in our valley!

Gear Library is a place I never thought existed but is one of the best ideas and places in the valley. They have everything from skis, ski boots, snowboards, snowboard boots, camping gear, helmets, and other outdoor gear. The proprietor is super friendly and the membership is $1 if you are in the valley and $30 if you aren’t. You can rent anything for free after that. I got a great pair of skis, boots, and poles allowing me to have a great day at Sunlight Mountain. Highly recommended!

The Gear Library, what a great concept. Kyle has a wide array of high end equipment to rent for your next outdoor adventure. $1 to join and free rentals after that. It’s a great way for a family to get outside and enjoy the outdoors without taking out a second mortgage on the house. My wife and I rented 2 paddle boards spending the weekend at Harvey Gap, great times.

What a great shop for the Valley! We love the gear Library, our nephew is in town and we have been able to rent a bike and additional gear needed for him very easily!! We also picked up a an awesome football and some other fun toys to enjoy the summer afternoons. Grateful for the gear donations and the staffs dedication to getting people outside!

Great shop. I called, and inquired about renting a paddle board. Kyle told me that he had two currently in. He put one aside for me without me asking to. When I picked it up I was given instructions on how to use and set up the board. The paddle board was in great shape, and worked flawlessly. So easy to set up an account, and only a dollar to become a member (yes you read that right.) you can't find a better deal in town. Thanks again for the help and the great gear RFGL!
Oh yeah the have a tip jar, so throw the great crew a couple bucks if you can!
Stuart.

The advent of the Roaring Fork Gear Library makes it easy to host gear-less friends on epic adventures. The Library has an astonishingly broad and deep inventory of bike, raft, SUP, ski, and other gear to outfit any for a day or weekend. The Library seemingly survives on the generosity of its patrons, and as such, is truly a great community asset that will help more enjoy the great outdoors.

I checked out an inflatable ducky from the gear library. It was easy to look on their website for the equipment they had available and reserve it online the day before. The next day I went by to pick it up and was able to sign it out for a weekend camping trip in just a few minutes. All in all, an incredibly easy process and an amazing local resource.

My friend and I wanted to go biking on fat tire bikes. Only one problem - I didn't have one. Stopped in on a whim and they had 3. Filled out about a minute worth of paperwork, swiped a card in case there is damage, and went on my way with a fat tire bike for a week. Had a week of fun for free! It was great! And free! Will return.

Every town should have a Gear Library - as many of us live in smaller homes with less storage it is so nice to go grab what we need for an adventure and not have to own a bunch of expensive gear! This is the future - thanks Gear Library!!
