Shipley Do-Nuts

Best early morning when the donuts come out piping hot and the icing is just rolling off the donut after being ripped because they are too hot for the icing to harden. Yummy! This is a Shipley's but actually owned by the family who runs it. They work very hard to meet the expectations of Shipley's lovers. And they have also become a staple in our little city within a big city. Alamo Heights and Terrell Hills residents alike visit this location on weekends to make Saturday mornings special for the whole family. Especially after the Mules stomp the fields on a Friday night.
My favorite are the apple fritters, the raspberry filled with icing, omg the piping hot donut holes is my absolute favorite since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and the original plain old glazed donut. Don't fret if you don't like my favs. Stop by and try them yourself and make your own list of favs. Did I mention they have kolaches and other breakfast sandwiches? The kolaches are good but when I go I'm going for donuts to satisfy a sweet craving. When your sweet cravings hit head over to Austin Hwy. and try Shipley's (Across from Whataburger & next door to Papa John's).
They have indoor tables if you want to sit and eat there. On weekends there is a line at the door sometimes leading out and around building, but it moves fast, really fast actually. No mask is required to enter, they serve soft drinks, tea, coffee and juices, clean restrooms, clean inside and outside of establishment with wheelchair accessible entry and exit and there is plenty of parking including handicap in parking lot.

Dropped in in a hurry to get a 96 oz. jug of coffee to go and a dozen doughnuts and had no problems getting in and out in no time at all. Great, FRESH, selection on hand (at 930 am) and friendly service! Will definitely be back again when I need a quick something for a customer mtg.

Ok now this place is amazing the lady was extremely nice and helpful we got a dozen of our choice for $7 incredible doughnuts well worth the drive very fresh and yummy

I would recommend any Donut and/or Kolaches. You do feel a bit rushed as others have said however, at the same time there are limited staff and they are serving up their donuts warm and tasty.

Good thing I don't live close - I would be there daily.

My husband stopped in for our first Shipley's this morning, June 12, 2023. Rather than drive-thru, he went in. HUGE mistake! LoL! He was like a kid in a candy store (donut shop?) and came home with TWO DOZEN donuts. He got a dozen glazed yeast, and a dozen filled, two each of six flavors. OMG, these are so good. He said he wanted us to choose our favorite, and he wants to do this every Monday. Because I'm diabetic, I have had to put my self control into overdrive! Wow, these are good!

We had some delicious donuts at the Shipley's off the Austin highway in San Antonio Texas. The glazed braid donut are the best I've had in any of the Shipley's stores.

I stopped by at around 4:10am on a Monday. The staff was very friendly despite the early hour. The doughnuts were fresh and delicious. This was also the cleanest and most well-kept Shipley’s I’ve ever been to. It made a great start to my day.

Their doughnuts are amazing! They are fluffy, flaky and delicious! I would highly recommend it!

The best thing about my neighborhood Shipley Do-Nuts, is everytime I come by to get my morning kolaches, the service is fast and the staff friendly. That's already more than you can expect from most places these days, but to have fantastic prices and great food too?

I hope they're here for many years to come. I know I'll be visiting for as long as they're around if they don't change a thing.

I love the glazed donuts! Delicious. The Apple fritter and twist are huge by the way. Only thing not so great is the assorted donuts are individually priced, there is not a bulk price of you buy a dozen/hf. Dz. So it can get pricey that way, but dz. Glazed for $7 is great

Amazing variety, always introducing new flavors. Kolaches are great too if you get there before they're gone. Good service, minimal wait time.

This location always has friendly employees that are focused on providing good donuts quickly, accurately, and consistently. The donuts are always fresh, sweet, and fluffy. The kolaches are always hot, savory, and filling. The coffee always hot, fresh, and full.

Great donuts and even better staff! They remember us every time we drop by and always make us feel welcome. And don't forget to get a bag of donut holes! They are awesome!

I come here at least once a week. This location is consistently awesome. From the donuts to the service. The young man even spotted me a dollar on a Gatorade one time because they didn't have the flavor I asked for. Love this spot.

I saw (🪚) Kaloche Coffee on 🧱 (wall). Die-cuts used promote items. I looked at the trays and the plain sugar items look good. I was wanting to try many of the items that at a glance don't seem too sellers. Additionally, this location doesn't have Shipley's pictures on the wall (framed) showing history of the shop. I noticed a missing persons jar on the counter top. The Verizon lady says the lady at Shipley's is nice but didn't offer me to try or sample. I told her I would be back, I had no money, and asked her for a bandaid and a$1.07. She couldn't help me. The strawberry 🍓 filled looks good. The three kids and 🍼 (baby) sitter so grown up and attractive. Talking about what is chicken from Whataburger. No nuts though.

This place is really good. I go here every Monday and order the same thing without saying a word. They just say the usual and get it right every time. When I take the donuts to my customers they are always asking me where I got them from. Everyone should go here for donuts!

I love my Shipleys. This "new" building they are in has done everything to make a great donut stop into the best version of itself.

The store is always clean and bright with adequate seating for guests who prefer to indulge before they drive away. For guests who are in a rush there is a drive through for convenience. Orders can also be placed in advance, for individuals or groups. Great for meetings, celebrations or church events.

There is no chance of getting stale pastries here either as it is all made on site daily. Come for the donuts or try their kolaches or croissants. Be sure to add drinks to your order too. Their house brand coffee has been highly recommended to me but I prefer their iced coffees. Thery also offer fountain drinks and a variety of bottled juices and milk.

For all the years I have been patronizing this particular Shipley's, I have not ever met a grumpy employee. All the staff are friendly and willingly interact with customers. They also recognize their regular customers with a smile - and sometimes have 'the usual' ready by the time the customer reaches the counter.

In a nutshell, I moved outside of San Antonio eight years ago and still make it a point to stop at THIS store any time I find myself in town.

Favorite donuts of all time! Excellent customer service at this location! Have come here since 2008 when they were still at their old location, the new location is just a little ways down the road and is really nice!
