Mortensen's Danish Bakery

This place has plenty of tasty treats! From traditional Danish treats to other Western and Northern European pastries and desserts, this is the best bakery in town.

My husband and I are both from Europe and loved going to Solvang but we’re a bit disappointed how Americanized a lot of the stores and restaurants were. We walked around for 3 hours and ended up buying pastries here because it seemed one of the most authentic and freshly baked.

The cutest bakery!! There is free parking nearby and we stopped for some pastries. There are lots of bees in the bakery, but don’t let that deter you. There are so many options and the lady behind the counter was so generous is giving her personal recommendations. We were a little indecisive with all the choices in front of us and she kindly threw in an extra pastry for us to try. Definitely worth a visit!

We got a few items: raspberry owl eye, cherry danish, and chocolate almond danish. All were fabulous.

I enjoyed my owl eye with an earl grey hot tea…perfection.

We enjoyed live music by the Dana V Wines patio while savoring our goodies.

It's a place where you have to line up and place an order. I've tried 3 kinds, and they were all not sweet and delicious.
There are indoor and outdoor tables, and I think it would be great to sit back and have coffee on a weather weekend.

Stopped in for a coffee and pastry. Ms. Stephanie ended up helping us, and we figured out she was part of the family owned business and got to chatting. We got a great brief history on the bakery and Solvang. After leaving, strolling down the street eating our goods, I’m glad we took it to go. Otherwise, had we stayed I would have bought one of every pastry. Best danish cookies ever as well! I’ll never be able to eat a blue tinned danish cookie again. Mortensen’s is the standard now-

This was our first time getting pastries from Mortensen's Danish Bakery. I usually get danish from the other 4 bakeries in Solvang, but let me tell you, this bakery is not to be missed. It has great pastries just like the others. I got some pastries and cookies, and I will be going back to get some more. No wonder it's one of the top 5 bakeries in Solvang.

Great service. Well oiled machine. Here on a busy Friday morning and the team was super efficient and friendly. Had my custard puff this morning and it was the best! Definitely a must stop for your baked goods items.

Great little bakery with a old school atmosphere serving delicious fresh flakey danishes! Do not forget the milk! A must have with the pastries here.

I love it! The best Danish bakery ever! The clerks were nice and explained different things for me. I bought more after I tried the cinnamon roll and biscuit! I thought these weren’t too sweet but crunchy and flavorful.

We took the kids to visit Solvang. Right out of the parking lot we saw this bakery and had to stop. We had 6 kids with us (ages 3-14). Everything we ordered was really good. There was even something for our egg allergy kid. One has a tree nut allergy and there were things for them as well. Patio out back had plenty of seating and shade.

Great bakery with a nice selection of authentic pastries. The raspberry Danish is one of the best we had in Solvang (We visited 6 bakeries) and we also thought the thumbprint and Napoleon cookies were fantastic. The best thing to bring home from this bakery is the Kringle. It is filled with almond paste goodness and perfect to share for desert or enjoy a bit with coffee for breakfast.

Staff is friendly and nice! The sisters that own the bakery are so welcoming they even gave my little one a cookie the last time we were there! Loved it, from Los Angeles thank you!

Delicious pastries and hot bev's. It's impossible to pick one thing! We went in for one treat and left with six! LOL

The outdoor area is lovely with a sunny area in the front and another in the back. The seating area inside is comfortable and picturesque.

This place is huge. Baking is going on in every one of their buildings. The smell is just hypnotizing. Their pastries are fresh and still remain and taste fresh even when you have travel far from away to get some. The staff is friendly, patiently and very helpful.

I would gladly come back for more.
