Southern Spoon

We were in town for an event and looking for a place to eat that was fast, casual, and good food. They delivered…plus some! We ordered a club with potato salad and shrimp & grits. It’s hard to find good shrimp and grits outside of the low country…these were delicious! Huge shrimp and grits cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. The club was very large and super tasty…and the potato salad was homemade-both great. The service was super friendly and accommodating, parking was plentiful and the entire restaurant, including restrooms, was clean. From the other plates I saw coming out…they all looked really good. The chicken and waffles looked to be a popular dish and looked to be something I must try next time. What a great place. Casual, super fresh and delicious, fast with friendly service. Definitely recommend.

Once again the Yelp community did me a solid! We found this cute hole in the wall breakfast/ brunch place and it was good! The restaurant is open, clean, and bright. And- it was quiet enough we could converse and not feel drawn into conversations around us. You can tell this is a place made for hanging out and connecting as many around us appeared to be doing. They even had a sitting area and games and lots of seating options. The service was good too - they are friendly and kind. It took us a bit to decide as the menu had a lot of options. We had the butternut squash soup, broccoli, a biscuit, and the breakfast plate with cheese grits (husband said they were delicious), brisket, eggs, and a bagel. Overall very good and we enjoyed our brief visit!

Nice quaint restaurant. I ordered brisket sandwich with cheese and no coleslaw with fries. They thought I wanted cheese on my fries, but I was totally cool with that. Food was great. Only comment I have is brisket was cubed not sliced. This made eating it messy. Wife got chicken salad sandwich. 🥪 I want to come back to try their breakfast.

Talk about a hidden gem. I was blown away just looking at the menu before the food even arrived. Huge portions! I was told when I couldn't decide what I wanted that "no matter what you order, you can't go wrong." This person wasn't lying. If you like simple decor with a homey touch surrounded by thriving plants, you will enjoy your experience here. I will be back without a doubt!

My wife and I used Southern Spoon as the catering company for our wedding in December and we could not be happier. We received so many compliments about how great the food was at the reception. We had 3 different passed appetizers plus a beautiful grazing charcuterie board for our cocktail hour. Our buffet had chicken, brisket, and salmon in addition to all of the amazing sides. And their banana pudding beignets for dessert are to die for. They also bring in their food truck and cook everything on site so it is fresh at the time dinner is being served. You can tell they truly care about their customers.

If you still need help deciding to go with Southern Spoon for your catering event let me make it easy for you. First off, they were one of the only companies that lets us try their food ahead of time. Secondly, you simply cannot beat the value. We received probably 30-40 percent more food for a better price point than all of the other companies we reached out to. And lastly, Adam and Crystal are just good people. They turned down a much larger corporate event on the same day as our wedding that would have made them significantly more money because we reached out to them first. I cannot recommend Southern Spoon enough!

We had them cater a large family dinner party. The staff was very accommodating, preparing a couple things differently for folks with special dietary needs. I especially enjoyed the catfish with their special sauce, and the collard greens egg rolls were excellent (much to my surprise).

Got the Chicken and Waffles (Nashville hot) and Shrimp and Grits. Everything was sooo good. Waffles was still Fluffy once it got to me, the Chicken was nice sized and perfectly crispy, and the Shrimp and Grits was full of flavor, with an interestingly tasting gravy I've never had on Grits before.
The presentation of the food delivered was exceptionally neat!

This place is fairly new and I thought that I would give it a shot and I was very impressed on the food presentation and the flavor of the food was impressive. I had sausage and eggs and sweet potato pancake and all was prepared very good. I had the hot chicken and sweet potato pancakes and it was delicious. If you're in the area I suggest that you try this place out you won't be disappointed just remember that they close at 2: 00p all throughout the week and on weekends so you better get there early

This is the second time I have been to the Southern Spoon location in Smyrna and both times, I had a great experience. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu, very friendly, service is quick but not rushed-feeling, and the restaurant is clean and feels very comfortable.

The food here is excellent. The mac and cheese is to die for, and I would definitely recommend the Club or the Chicken & Waffles. You can tell that a lot of thought goes into the menu and the presentation. They have a wide range of coffee drinks, as well.

I will absolutely be back and hope to bring others to enjoy the Southern Spoon experience!

We'll be going back! Two of us got the breakfast plate, 2 eggs, 3 pieces pf bacon, sourdough toast and cheese and white grits. Delish. One of us got a biscuit with eggs and sausage with grits. They thought the biscuit was a little greasy but it looked wonderful. They were delighted with the double espresso.

Delicious addition to Rutherford County restaurant options! The owners have been catering & had a food truck for few years already in middle TN. Now we have The Southern Spoon 🥄 to enjoy dining in. Breakfast served all day. Lunch begins at 10:00. Coffee ☕ fresh all day. Delicious unique desserts. Southern food served in their big menu. Catering still available!! Open till 5:00. Visit them soon. It's been a while since I had such amazing southern shrimp and grits. Amazing!!!! Great service, great conversations, and staff that went above and beyond. Next time I'm in Tennessee I will visit again

This is one of my family and I favorite restaurants. We’ve been several
times and the food is always delicious, hot, and on time. The staff are always friendly, hospitable, and so hard working! The cashier is always smiling and so patient and willing to answer any and all questions regarding the food. It’s just a beautiful environment. Praying God continues to bless this beautiful small business. I’m in love!

Everything I've had there is great from breakfast to meat & 3. Laid back atmosphere. Everyone's cool. Very clean.

I’m here from Akron, Ohio visiting relatives. Came for brunch on Sunday. Ordered a bowl filled with all the good things! Came out hot and delicious! Great latte with a ❤ on top. Ordered a banana pudding beignet to go! Highly recommend this place!

We came to have brunch as a family, and they had a corner with toys and books for children to be entertained while we ordered. The food came out very quick, and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the club, and I had in the brisket. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy another delicious meal.

Delicious! And a great atmosphere. They were so sweet to our crew... we walked in the door with three toddlers and they were so quick to help with highchairs, puzzles to occupy them, etc. And the food was terrific! Generous portions of fresh and unique dishes. It's one of my favorite little known facts: caterers who also have counter service for lunch are almost always a good choice. They have things down to a science. Quick, reliable service. A diverse crowd of ladies, a few kiddos, and lots of people from various industries and offices stopping in for weekday lunch. We'll be back!

Have been twice and you can tell it's fresh and homemade. First time had a create your own breakfast bowl; the 2nd time was a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit with side of home fries. All very tasty.

My husband and I stopped by this afternoon without really knowing what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was elevated southern comfort food; refined and delicious. We shared the southern poutine and champagne chicken macaroni and cheese followed by the banana pudding beignets. The owners were so welcoming and the atmosphere was charming. My husband is already hoping to go back tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and check them out!

This place has absolutely amazing food! Come on in and try this place out, they even have A barista by the name of Tyler that has a list of espresso drinks that would rival any of your favorite coffee shops!
