Oaklandia Cafe x Bakery

This was our first time using Oaklandia Cafe x Bakery for an event. They exceeded our expectations for our recent catering order for approximately 40 people. Timely delivery was complemented by a delightful culinary journey that left all attendees thoroughly pleased and impressed.

The vegetarian and chicken sandwiches were undoubtedly the stars of the show. Both options were prepared with care and attention to detail, resulting in flavors that were not only delicious but also memorable. The vegetarian sandwiches showcased a vibrant array of fresh vegetables and flavorful spreads, appealing to both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Meanwhile, the chicken sandwiches were tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, earning rave reviews from everyone who indulged in them.

Special appreciation goes to Kat, whose prompt responses and assurance alleviated any apprehensions as first-time patrons.

Overall, I highly recommend Oaklandia Cafe x Bakery for any catering needs. Their delicious food, impeccable presentation, and exceptional service make them a standout choice for any occasion. We were thoroughly impressed and look forward to the opportunity to enjoy their culinary delights again in the future.

Amazing pastries and fresh squeezed oj! My favor was the ham and cheese croissant and my mom loved the spinach and ricotta. The staff was super sweet and have amazing recommendations. Thank you!

Always so kind and quick service. I got the veggie sandwich this time around and it was just what I needed to start my day off right. The bread should be called "cloud"-atta, it had so much loft and was so fresh.

Next time I am in, I need to try one of their signature drinks.

We stopped by for breakfast after farmers market Friday morning and I’m so glad we did! The veggie sandwich was SO good, get it on the croissant, you won’t be disappointed! Everyone that works there is so friendly and the vibe is chill and lovely!

Oaklandia is a wonderful cafe oasis in downtown Oakland. A very short walk from BART and bus stops, the food, service and atmosphere make it one of my favorite places to relax and dine in Oakland. It's spacious, beautiful and clean with a great menu and I love the Black and Brown mocha.

We need to continue to support businesses that are in the community and by community members. Don’t let them come in and push us out because the love of food, culture, and vibes is lost and the quality quickly evaporates. When you do things with the soul you can feel it. 2024 let’s run their books up!!

After ordering the caprese multiple times, the bread always hits!! Fantastic cafe with amazing and welcoming staff.

Hands down my favorite spot in Oakland! I’ve worked out of here a bunch and every time I’ve enjoyed the surroundings and the food. Love that it’s unprentious despite being in commercial building. The bake everything in house so the pastries are incredible, and I love the black and brown latte.

Top marks for food, service, vibe and...coffee! I went for lunch two days in a row during a conference and had fresh delicious meals, and a cappuccino as a treat that I don't usually order. Everything was flavorful and worth returning for. I wish I had pictures to share! I sat both inside and outside. I loved that the outside tables were under umbrellas and it was easy for a group of us to sit together indoors or out. The thing I would make sure I had next time was a brownie. Mouthwateringly good! The Sistah Scifi vending machine is also a special feature of this cafe.

Solid spot to get a good cup of coffee. They are consistent and have friendly service.

This place needs more foot traffic than it currently has because it’s fantastic. I’ve had several of the pastries including the morning bun, the apple tart, and the peach and blueberry tart and they are delicious. Fresh baked in the cafe itself, and the drinks are also yummy. I’ve had the rose petal latte and the iced matcha latte and you can’t go wrong with either of them, or any drinks on their menu. I also sampled their caprese sandwich and wow. Can’t go wrong ordering anything from their bakery or their kitchen. Highly recommend!!

Excellent coffee & pastries. Service from staff, not so great...

A great space to hang out and read or do some work. It was relatively quiet when I went. Unpretentious, solid latte making, and a large selection of pastries that (I think) they make there. The chocolate chip cookie was EXCELLENT

I'm incredibly grateful for the owner of this restaurant in the interaction that I had with her today at the location on 12th Street. As anyone who has been to the Bay Area knows, it is very hard to find public restrooms, or restaurants that will let you use their bathroom, with or without paying, because there is such a pervasive concern about unhoused people showering or doing drugs in the restrooms. Today is Sunday, so most of the businesses in the area were closed, however, I had to use the restroom. I looked around and asked at every open restaurant within a three block radius and no one would allow me to use theirs. At the Subway nearby the (meztiso Hispanic and East Asian) staff even completely ignored the fact that I was trying to talk to them even though there was no one else in the restaurant, then pretended that they did not understand English. Then, when I started speaking to them in Spanish because I'm also (afro)Latina they pretended they couldn't speak in Spanish until a Mexican family came up behind me and reiterated my question, at which point the Hispanic team member spoke to that family instead of ever acknowledging my presence. At this point I'm frustrated, feel deeply disrespected, and also urgently have to pee. I was well-dressed, put together and clearly did not look like I was living on the street, even though there's a bigger question about cities having spaces where unhoused people can use the restroom as well if they don't want people to go in public... long story short, I stumble upon this restaurant and I see the owner and her son setting up for what looks like a birthday party, only to find out that the door is locked. I didn't dwell on the issue long but was feeling pretty hopeless and scanning the perimeter for any other businesses that might be open, nevertheless, the owner walked all the way from the back of the restaurant where she was and open up the door and asked how she could help me. I asked her if they had a restroom that was open to the public, and even though she was not open, she let me come in and use the restroom and was perfectly cordial and respectful. When I stepped inside I was surprised at how spacious and beautiful the building was. Unlike many local coffee shops, instead of feeling cramped and quote on quote cozy, it felt like there was enough space to move around, which I think is a better study environment. They also had a lot of black art on the walls. The bathroom was clean, and when I looked at the menu, the prices were very reasonable. I love the way that black woman remain cornerstones of community. When I could not rely on anybody else, and when everybody else was profiling me unnecessarily hard, this one opened her doors to me, and I feel like we should all support businesses that extend beyond average customer service, even to people who are not buying anything. Especially as Oakland continues to gentrify, it is important to patronize locally owned black businesses and reward the kind of behaviors we want to see in our business owners . Please support this Black owned business!

Amazing assortment of baked goods, delicious coffee any way you want it, and a beautiful open space for chatting, mingling or studying. They have super friendly staff too! You can’t go wrong with this place.
