Islands Fresh Mex Grill

Went for the first time on a late Sunday afternoon. Pretty slow. Still greeted with a smile while we looked at the menu. Lots of good stuff to choose from. Easy kids menu. All three of us ordered. The employees were very patient with our 9 year old. The two of them worked together. Made everything flawlessly and quickly, all while smiling and communicating with us. Everything was delicious. Hot, fresh, and accurate. Can’t wait to go back to try some other options. Oh yeah, the queso was amazing!!!!

I owe this place my life, for it has saved many a' nights from being just me gorging down yet another block of instant noodles.

The prices after five are a godsend. A dollar per taco is absolutely unreal, especially for a taco that genuinely tastes pretty good and doesn't cause an insurrection in your stomach!

Not to mention all the stuff you can just get for practically nothing, like seasoned tortilla chips and an all you can nab salsa & dip bar! In this current economic disaster, Islands has proven to be the light shining in the dark, a glowing bastion of hope, and a memento to what was once ordinary, a cheap and good meal.

No microwaves and no freezers... need I say more? Well I'm going to anyways. Everything in here is always fresh and on top of that the prices are shockingly affordable. Like the afternoon special. If you just buy a drink you can get four of their awesome tacos for a dollar each!

We stumbled upon this gem while heading to the Cotton Exchange. Nice menu but what really impressed me was the “Subway like” taco ordering system. Pick your protein, add some rice, black beans, jalapeño, etc., etc.
All fresh ingredients. Oh, my wife’s islander salad bowl was enough for two. I highly recommend you give it a go.

You can't beat the price after 5 . The service is awesome, very friendly, and the food is pretty tasty. I'm glad there is a spot where you can customize your own tacos. This has been one of my go-to restaurants since I've moved to wilmington .

I saw a really bad wreck on 40W last week. Six cars were mashed. Traffic was literally backed up for 11 miles. Anyway, y'all have good burritos.

Excellent food and amazingly affordable prices. You cannot beat that taco special! My first time here, but definitely will not be my last.

They opened a few minutes before 11am so my family and I were the first ones there. They were waiting to take our order. We got exactly what we ordered. Everything was delicious, everything was very clean including the bathrooms. They were also very fast. We were in town for vacation and we will be returning to eat next time we come in town to visit!

Wow! This place was amazing. We visited the area as a family for a few days and some local friends said to give this place a try. It was great. After 5pm, tacos are $1 for up to 4. You had to buy a drink but you also got chips and salsa. So for just over $6 you got 4 tacos, chips/salsa and a drink. Tremendous deal as each taco was huge. It tasted great too. If I ever see an islands I will define be stopping. Highly recommend checking it out and remember to get the island sauce (it’s like ranch with a pineapple/spicy taste. Really good.

This was my first time coming here and didn't know to expect all of this wonderfulness. I love all of the selections and that you can basically build anything you want. Love it, the kids loved it and the husband loved it. Going on the list of my favorite places.

Can never say enough about the food here even though they completely forgot 1 of my sides. With an order for 7 people 1 thing missing I can live with the no call back is were there service losses 5 stars when you call it goes to a VM and no one ever called back.

This is a must try place! It is like a subway but with Tacos and that is even better. You go in order how many tacos and you can make them anyway you like! They have only locally grown produce and it is all fresh! It is also very reasonably priced! For 2 tacos with guacamole and it comes with chips and whatever salsa you choose from their salsa bar for only 7 bucks! What a great place!

Craving a good burrito or bowl but I’ll drive out of my way for this location because of the people who work there! I truly think you can see the manager’s smile ( I believe his name is Luis) when you pull into the parking lot… he’s just that happy and his smile is just THAT BIG! He always greets me as if he remembers me and he always treats me as if he’s glad I’m there. This level of customer service is rare and especially during a pandemic when finding great workers is so tough!

Pretty casual place that hustles hard. They had a long line and knocked it out in no time. You can't beat a combo of 4 tacos, chips, salsa and a drink for 6.50! The queso is also fantastic. The salsa bar is pretty good. We've been there many times and will continue to.

Cafeteria style Mexican restaurant with a nice menu selection. Pick your own table and fill your own drinks. It's brightly lit and has ample spacing and seating.
