Fish City Grill

This was my first time dining at Fish City Grill. I had heard only great compliments of this restaurant, so I thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant is nestled in a cozy nook of a small plaza. So if you're not from the area, it could get confusing looking for the exact location.
Once you're inside the restaurant, you'll find a quaint size dining area and a bar section.
At the time I went, it was not super busy. It was just comfortable enough without a whole lot of people to seem overwhelming.
Now to examine my experience with the food. I ordered the Seafood Platter with a side of Red Beans and Rice. It was fresh, hot and very delicious. I also had a Fried Oyster with a variety of sauces to try. I didn't like it, but so what I'm picky. The bartender, Vinny, was very polite and charming and made my entire dining experience quite enjoyable.
I will definitely return and bring friends the next time so they too can experience eating good food.

Took my nephew out to dinner and we decided on the Fish City Grill!

Because it was our first time there they brought us a sampler of all their homemade soups and an oyster (Nacho) for lack of a better explanation. The soups were all very good, however the crab bisque was exceptional! The oyster nacho was delectable...

For an appetizer I chose the calamari, which came with two dipping sauces. The calamari was very good and the dipping sauces also.

We both had the seafood platter which included farm-raised catfish, shrimp, and oysters, each cooked to your liking. I replaced the catfish for a very small additional charge with Cod. My nephew had the catfish blackened and we both chose grilled shrimp and fried oysters. All was cooked to perfection. They both included a side of hush puppies, coleslaw and french fries.

The food and service was definitely worth additional visits!

Since we were first time customers they gave us a sample tray of soups and fried oysters with pico. We split the seafood sampler and they split it up on two plates. All the food was awesome especially the catfish and cod. Highly recommend this place. Customer service was amazing.

My server, Jordan, was very friendly and attentive. The fish was cooked to perfection, very flavorful and fresh!! The food is reasonably priced considering the level of quality! First-time visitors are offered a sample of the soups, it was difficult to choose a favorite, and an oyster nacho, which I will be ordering next time! I had the shrimp and crab stuffed flounder, I highly recommend it!

My wife and I decided to try something new to us for date night. This place was recommended to me so we thought we'd try it. Upon entering, it was a packed house, and we were going to be seated inside until the host suggested the outside patio. It was cold and windy. But they had the patio covered and heaters on to warm it up. So we sat on the patio and seemed to have the whole restaurant to ourselves. Made a great date night atmosphere. We ordered an appetizer sampler that had fried pickles, fried calamari, and a wonderful crab queso that I could eat by itself, along with three dipping sauces. For dinner, my wife had a pick two with grilled catfish and shrimp, and I had a simple fish and chips meal. Everything, and I mean all of it, was fresh and tasty. Being first-time customers, we were even given the opportunity to try a sample of all their soups and a sample of their oyster nachos (which are so tasty and interesting). The service was great, our server was on her game and we left very happy. Had no complaints. Great job, FCG. we will return.

This place was great! We stopped here for lunch on Friday. The waitress Lacy was so sweet and new all about the food choices. She recommended the clam chowder and it was great. We were able to sample all the soups and the best two were clam chowder and the jalapeño!!
Husband had the shrimp and red fish pasta, flavor was on point! Great little place with good music and atmosphere. Clean and friendly!

Stopped by for a bread pudding to take home; the staff is very friendly. Loved the bar employees they were very polite :)
My online order was ready at the designated time given.
They even explained how to reheat the dessert; totally appreciated it.
First time coming to this location in Waco. The atmosphere was very lovely! The hostess y waitstaff were the friendliest. Was worth the hour y half drive. Will have to return in the near future.

Great place in Waco we visited for the third time. It’s going to become part of our regular rotation. Reasonable prices. And not the usual chain restaurant fare. I kind of have a policy not to review chain restaurants. But this feels very un-chain like. Great cocktails and an imaginative, diverse (for a seafood restaurant) menu. We’ll keep coming back.

A group of us chose this place for a Sunday lunch and are thankful we did. We had the queso appetizer, which was very good. Everyone liked their chosen entrees. I had the fish and chips, which was more than enough for a meal. Others had shrimp tacos and shrimp and grits. Everything was great. The server was very engaging and helpful. The only downside was the space itself. It had the feel of a fast food place trying to be better than that. It’s a minor thing, though. We might have to try this place again next time we go through Waco.

This was a fun little place. We had the oysters on a half shell as an appetizer; just can't beat east coast oysters. We had a few cocktails, that were very tasty. As our main core we had the grilled scallops and shrimp wrapped in apple smoked bacon on top of mashed potatoes. This meal was fantastic, if I had one recommendation it would be to make the mashed potatoes from scratch, these tasted instant and for the price you want the real thing. Over all great place, the staff was on point, the food and drinks were so good. I will definitely be back.

Small place inside but they also have plenty of outdoor seating under the shade with a nice view. I had the watermelon margarita, was very fresh and delicious. I also had the patron margarita that was a little more stronger, delicious also. The chicken fried chicken with the jalapeño cream salsa was delicious,not spicy. The portion was huge, I'd say you could share it or take half home for leftovers.

My experience at this restaurant was excellent. Our large group sat on the patio. Our server was awesome. The food was great. I had the Shrimp Cobb Salad. Delicious. Someone came out & thanked the servicemen at our table. Then, someone from the kitchen came out and spoke about the food and thanked us for being there. I recommend trying the Roasted Jalapeño Soup and the Oyster Nachos. Pics are of the Shrimp Cobb Salad and Calamari.

The best restaurant experience my boyfriend and I have had EVER!!

We ordered the Valentine’s Day Menu options which was a STEAL for the quality and amount of food it offered. Our waitress was 100% accepting that her knowledge was not at the level she’d like it to be regarding the differences in oyster options but immediately brought the manager to our table to better explain it. I love that “I will find out for you” vibe. There were several people who came by our table and made sure everything was good. I also really appreciated the manager coming to my table when my boyfriend went to the RR because it’s always a bit awkward being alone at a table, but he kept me engaged in the restaurant experience by explaining the different menu options that were being written on the board. Every single bite we had was delicious and the amount of food on the plates was PERFECT. I have never had a 5 course meal for two for under $100. I highly recommend you take advantage of their V-Day menu that ends soon, but even if you don’t, I highly recommend you give this a try, seafood lover or not. I would have never tried trout in my life but I had a bite off my boyfriend’s plate and it was DELISH. I’d give this 10 stars if I could.
The only criticism I have is that we were told our wait time was 40 minutes and because I was very determined to have a date night at Fish City Grill, I said I’d wait. It turned out to only be a 7 minute wait time. If it were any other scenario, I probably would have been deterred by that long wait time and left, not knowing it wouldn’t actually be that long I’d be waiting. However, I understand it’s new and they are still working out estimates and little things like that 😊

We absolutely loved this place. The food was delicious, the service was great, and we sat on the patio so we had a nice view. Gabriel, our server, was great. He is funny and attentive without hovering like most waiters do. He made a mistake with our meal and fixed it immediately. The most impressive thing of all was he owned up to it and even told his manager who apologized profusely. Most people his age would have never said anything and passed the blame on the kitchen. The restaurant was packed and yet the food came out tasting wonderful. The crab and shrimp stuffed fish is fenomenal!! I've never been a fan of anything stuffed however I decided to try this and was pleasantly surprised!! My boyfriend had the seafood plate, it was pretty good as well but not as good as my fish. We had the crispy calaramari for our appetizer and he absolutely liked it. I fell in love with their aeoli sauce. Their music is pretty good, the atmosphere was great and we are definitely coming back to visit! I want to sample their oysters and a few other dishes as I had a hard time deciding what to order.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere!! First time there, had some calamari, herb crusted tilapia and shrimp with rice and asparagus. Finished off with bread pudding. Loved it!! 🙌🏽🎉🤩🙌🏽

I believe the best spot to get some fish in Waco, good customer service, that lady at the bar is nice, I don’t drink nor eat meat neither the best spot for me. I went there almost every day, the salmon is good, the shrimp tacos with black beans and crab soup delicious and a Diet Coke. The price is good it remember me some place in Budapest

Hunter was amazing! It was our first visit and he shared his knowledge of the entrees with us and we chose the Pecan Crusted Trout and the Lobster & Shrimp Grilled Cheese. Both were fantastically delicious!

A cozy spot for delicious seafood. Our party of 4 stopped in for lunch on a gray, cool Sunday. The server, Chris, brought us samples of all 4 soups and the oyster nachos since we hadn't been there before. Wow! The idea of oyster nachos had seemed weird to me until I tasted them, but they were incredibly good! The soups were all good, but roasted jalapeno was so good I had to have a cup of it to start my meal. I cannot wait to have it again. My husband really liked the crab bisque.

One of the best things is that on the combo plates, you can order some of the items grilled and others fried or blackened. You don't have to have them all prepared the same way. Everything was perfectly prepared, and the meal was large enough to take some home. The bread that comes with the meal was an incredibly good toasted French bread.

It looked like all of the servers were taking good care of their tables, and I can say for certain that Chris took great care of us. He was welcoming, happy to answer questions, and checked on us frequently without hovering or being intrusive.

Absolutely amazing dinner! Best seafood I’ve had in a long long time. Will definitely be back soon and bringing friends.

An amazing place to get fresh sea food. Went and got a little taste of everything and have to say the oysters are so good especiallythe oyster nachos. The fried calamari was also so delicious. Every bite of food was amazing. Would def recommend for any sea food lover. This place also has a great atmosphere with touch of nautical accents.
