Margie & Ray's Crabhouse and Restaurant

Sooo... we always try to find the little places off of the beaten path when we go on trips and this place truly fit the bill.
It's away from all of the insanity that the boardwalk clings to and very unassuming in my opinion.

We were greeted with very upbeat and polite gals who seated us immediately. Our server was good to us and answered any questions we had about the menu.

We ordered the she crab soup and though it was good I found it to be a little Salty and very very thick. Maybe this is a good thing it just wasn't what I am used to.

The real star of the show to me was the Fried Neptune Seafood Platter. It doesn't say that it's enough food for two people but it absolutely is. We plate shared and actually had food left over. So if you order something like that be prepared to do a take home box or come with a huge appetite.

They do have outdoor seating which seemed nice but I was happy to enjoy the window seat inside. There is also plenty of parking... thankfully!

Excellent she crab soup!! It is very chunky. Delicious. We loved the Hatteras clam chowder too. Wonderful flavor. The bang bang shrimp is hot and fresh. Out of this world. The mimosas are only $2 on Saturday’s! You can get a double for $4. Taylor provided outstanding service too. I will be back very soon!!

Great variety of food. Had the crawfish etoufee. The crab soup was good and the oysters were fresh. Worth the drive out. Not too crowded on a Friday evening.

Had been here more than once before to have their famous blue crabs but this go round was for Saturday morning breakfast!

Place was packed as usual but got our table pretty quick. Everything came out as ordered and looked and tasted great.

Their breakfast menu has plenty of traditional options from pancakes to specialty omelets. They also have plenty of Benedict’s to choose from and all the traditional breakfast meat options that you would find in the south! Got the Whirlpool which is just all kinds of things piled on each other. Potatoes had good flavor which can sometimes be hard to find at breakfast joints that serve them in this style. Corn beef hash is canned but still good, of course. Benedict’s come out looking divine. Liked that the menu had tons of options and the prices weren’t too bad. With it being a packed house, service lagged but still was friendly and as quick as possible under the circumstances.

My first time here and my number 1 for everything seafood!!

Parking lot was big and lots of parking! Was a little later when we went 8pm. The restaurant itself was clean and we loved the friendly atmosphere!

I ordered the steamed sampler and it did not disappoint and the cocktail and tarter sauce were both amazing! My daughter ordered the fish and chips and it was phenomenal and they even had malt vinegar!! The coleslaw was so good I had to order my own so I wouldn't steal hers lol my husband tried the crab cakes and again they were cooked to perfection with the perfect crisp!

Maddy was our waitress and she was so sweet and helpful!! I always want to order blue crab but I'm not sure how to open them so she assured me when the season comes she can help me out so I can learn!! I'll totally take a video and share!!

I forgot I provided a five star rating for Margie and Ray’s almost ten years ago, but never wrote anything. I’ve been coming here off and on even though I no longer actively live in the area anymore and it’s just as awesome as it’s always been.

This is a bit of a hole looking wall place and if you’re driving to Sandbridge, you might just miss it. If you’re visiting Virginia Beach and like unique places, this is the place. Locals who visit know one another, lots of regulars as well as tourists. It’s almost always actively busy.

Although the menu is seafood focused, they do have great burgers in case you have a person in your party who isn’t a seafood fan. Wonderful, friendly, familial service and terrific food. The she crab soup is renown for its fresh taste and robust flavor, consistency and serving size. Since it’s a chowder, they overfill the cup so it’s a fairly large serving. If you visit at least one person should order this!

Will keep coming back as long as they’re open and I’m alive. Be careful in the parking lot….

We were recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint! We got the bang bang shrimp(not pictured)and the Barrier reef. Everything was cooked to perfection, and that was the best crab I have ever had. Our server was also super friendly and helpful as was the rest of the staff. We will definitely be going again when we are in the area.

Okay when I rate 5 for atmosphere it is for a crab house. Don't wear a suit and tie or your best dress. You'll probably get it covered in bits of incredible fresh seafood, all the classic sides and the most amazing she-crab soup that has ever been cooked. It's a three hour drive to get there for me, but every time my family and I are in the area we stop by.

Margie and Ray's has the best she crab soup! It's loaded with crab meat, and it's thick like a chowder and creamy! I personally use the crackers and scoop the soup on the crackers. It's a meal all by it's self.

Birthday dinner and decided seafood was how we wanted to celebrate 58 years AB’s it had been awhile since we had eaten here. Excellent decision! Fried platter with crab cake, shrimp and scallops. The crab cake was ok but the shrimp and scallops were PERFECT; lightly battered and cooked just right. Hushpuppies were great size and also deep fried to golden beauty. Finished with a chocolate cake slice that could feed us both.

Fish and chips were also good!

Easy in and out for parking. At 6pm on a Friday it was busy. But we did get a booth quickly. I ordered the Neptune's platter. It was awesome. I chose crab cake, shrimp and clam strips as my 3 items. It was all cooked perfectly. The shrimp was tender. The crab cake was a good size and very tasty. The clam strips were tender also. My companion chose the fish and chips dinner and really enjoyed the perfectly cooked fish.
The service was excellent!
Our first experience here was a winner. We will be back to try more entries from the menu.

Nice spot off the beaten VA beach tourist area path with a great atmosphere, drinks, food and merch. We did flounder and salmon so can't speak on the other seafood. I did hear that it was like the only or best place for blue crab in the area. Definitely worth the short drive.

This is a fun place. Best she crab soup I’ve had it’s thick and heavy but oh so delicious. Most creative old fashioned I had. Was tasty and surprisingly not too sweet. S’more old fashion. Seafood player was very well done. Fish was fresh and cooked well.

This place is amazing! Our waitress, Amanda, was on the ball. Out food was ready in under 10 minutes and everything was delicious. Their she-crab soup was the best I ever had with large lumps of crab meat, and their fried platter was crispy and tasty.

Great food, service and can't beat the lunch specials.

Thursday specials include scallops that you can get fried, grilled, or backend.
The fried scallops are cooked perfect. The special comes with choice of two sides and a beverage.

The fried chicken is also fantastic.

When on vacation, I always like to check out the local, family owned spots. This place is awesome! Stopped in for breakfast and couldn’t have left happier! Food, service, and atmosphere all great! Will definitely be back when in VA Beach again.

Never disappoints! We make time to stop in on our yearly visit to Sandbridge and are always pleased! Yummy food, delightful bloodies and of course, always 4-5 quarts of She-crab soup to bring home!

The portions are amazing, the food is even more delicious than I expected from what I’ve heard. This place lives up to the hype. Atmosphere would have been improved dramatically if not for the obnoxiously loud drunk blonde at the bar that didn’t take a break from her obnoxious behavior the entire time we were here.
