Café Normandie

We went there for our anniversary and had a great time. They had a great special where we could (like restaurant week) each pick an app, entree, and dessert from a list of options for $42. I’ve always wanted to try bone marrow so we got that as an extra app. We each got clam chowder, he got beef Bourguignon and cheesecake, while I got raspberry duck and something similar to flan.

SERVICE: awesome. It didn’t take long and it was timed perfectly between apps so we had time to chat and pick at apps while we waited for our next dish
MARROW: was super rich and flavorful, but definitely one of those things where you can only eat one, maybe two, and then it gets to be too much (for me anyway). Not a dig on the food, but simply mentioning the portion size is good for a group so each person can have one taste (though my dogs were very happy with the leftovers haha)
SOUP: very good! I’m not much of a seafood fan in general but my fiancé was very happy
BOURGUIGNON: so this is where I took off one half of a star and not sure if it’s even right to. Neither one of us were wowed by the dish. I told my fiancé I would make some for him and did so that week, and we both preferred mine. So, we didn’t care much for it, but perhaps that is the authentic taste and we just happen not to like it 🤷‍♀
DUCK: I took a risk with this bc I don’t normally eat duck, but it was very good and a surprisingly large portion size. However, and this is where I took off another half star, the vegetables were a complete afterthought and it was apparent. I was pretty surprised they put so little effort into the beans and carrots to complement such a beautiful display of duck.
DESSERTS: they were both tasty and tasted as expected

Overall, I would go back for another nice day date in annapolis. Everyone raves about the escargot so I’ll have to get brave and try that next time!

I would post photos but the food and drinks were so good they were gone pretty quickly. My fiance and I dined here last night for his birthday and came in early to have a quiet experience. Tried escargot for the very first time and it was amazing! Our server and bartender Amanda was amazing and helped us figure out how to check in to our hotel stay at the Maryland Inn. Not only was she kind and thoughtful but her espresso martini was KILLER. Will definitely be back and only asking for Amanda!

Great dare night, or special occasion dinner. French inspired. The food was incredible. I ordered the duck with raspberry sauce. It was so tender and so delicious!

We had one of the best meals out in months at Cafe Normandie on Saturday, June 3. We ordered the special portobello mushroom with crabmeat, escargot, and scallop provencale. Everything was absolutely delicious, with so much flavor packed into every bite. We would highly recommend having dinner at Cafe Normandie if you’re in Annapolis!

Cafe Normandie is now our new favorite restaurant for a nice, expensive dinner. The food is amazing! Service is excellent and the ambience is very relaxed, especially by the fireplace.

I took a risk on the pork osso bucco, since I had no idea what it was, but it is the best meal I've had in a long time. The meat fell right off the bone and the vegetables with the sauce just melted in my mouth.

The fruity Bomba dessert was the bomb-a. 3 scoops of sorbet, I think, covered in white chocolate shell was most excellent.

It was so good we went back today, less than a month apart. This time I ordered the tuna seared with mixed peppercorns and a creamy sauce with blueberries, and it was also a wonderful party in my mouth.

Oh, and I forgot about the French onion soup. The best I've had in 30 years. Soooo delicious.

We had a wonderful meal there 12/30/23. The menu was great, the food was delicious and the staff was very accommodating. We felt like we were eating in Paris, except the prices are so reasonable! It's in a great location, right on Main Street. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and look forward to going again.

The look of this place outside and in is gorgeous. I've been to France and the atmosphere here was very alike to the cafes there, very charming. The server was well and the food was lovely. Bread was fresh and warm, the Croque-Monsieur was made perfectly and nicely cooked to give a great taste of cheese, toasted bread, and ham.
The creme brulee I also had was some of the best in Annapolis. I will look forward to coming back to try more of their menu options.

What a wonderful dining experience. The service was top class, even though they were shorthanded.

The good was excellent. The savory crepes were a hit. And the French Onion soup. The surf and turf is fantastic. Great flavors.

Desserts are top class, including the dessert crepes.

We've been going to the Cafe Normandie since the 1980's. The crepes are wonderful. The interior has been renovated so the online pictures don't do it justice. I think that our server was new so there were a few blips in the service but all in all a good experience.

I have brunch here every single time I'm in Annapolis for a reason. It's always the most incredible meal. The wait staff are wonderful. Make sure you get a reservation! I love the view from the upstairs at the holidays. I could not recommend Café Normandie more.

The food was absolutely délicieuse. We were lucky and got there right as an outside table opened up as they were fully booked inside. Service took a bit, but it was a great morning in downtown Annapolis that we didn't mind.

We all ordered a croque madame and just from the look of it, we knew it was going to be good. The first bite changed me. The flavors blended so nicely. The creaminess of the cheese, saltiness of the ham and the egg on top may as well have been a cherry.

Other things that were great: the look and feel of the outdoor seating, the history section in the menu and the location right on a street that runs to the State House with amazing brick buildings.

This is my favorite spot to satisfy my French Cuisine cravings. Their escargot are phenomenal!! Excellent Caesar Salad with or w/o Anchovies...yes gotta have anchovies. Their Jumbo Scallops Risotto is out of this world!! The food there is just so tastefully crafted and well worth the experience and price. I highly recommend it.

Amazing food, phenomenal service = best dinner ever! Had dinner with a friend after going to the Annapolis boat show. Sadly they were out of mussels, regrettably - we didn't try the lamb. Clearly - we will need to back. My friend had the escargot which she loved followed by the Pasta Primavera (see photos below). I had the Shrimp provencale followed by NY Strip steak with bearnaise which was phenomenal. Coming from Rhode Island, I always consider seafood "excellent" when the seafood itself isn't overpowered by whatever is surrounding it - in this case tomatoes, basil and garlic. The shrimp was sauteed perfectly, the steak was cooked to perfection, Escargot did not go flying through the air and the pasta primavera was magnifique. Service was excellent and the ambience was wonderful. You should go - and it's best to call in advance for a reservation! Bon Appetite!

The Chef comes from France, the name of the restaurant is not misleading: this is a French restaurant! We enjoyed the experience, the food is tasty and excellent, as you can find it on the other side of the Atlantic. Large choice of meats and fishes as well as wines. Back to France for one hour or more!

Love the atmosphere. Excellent appetizer, meal, and dessert. Received the wrong meal, but it was replaced. Luckily we were not in a hurry.

Cafe Normandie is an absolutely exquisite place to visit and eat. As soon as you enter the restaurant you’re immediately greeted with and relax into the French ambiance, beautiful music and elegant decor.
The menu offers a wide range of options to include a delicious creamy tomato bisque soup, variety of salads, chicken, fish and pasta. I never know what to order when I dine here because it all sounds delicious.
Cafe Normandie is my favorite place to go to, especially in Annapolis. The service, food and atmosphere never disappoint.

Quaint and homey French restaurant with great food, service and drink. Always check their daily specials. Their halibut was sublime. All five of us had a great time and loved the food and cocktails. 😋

Excellent Veal Normandie, Duck in raspberry sauce, Crepe Suzanne and Creme Brulee very good too. Top quality cuisine and service is what you pay for and appreciate here. Highly recommended, perhaps the best cuisine in Maryland.

02/14/22. We chose lunch on one of the worst days in the year to test a restaurant. Turned up 20 mins before the booking. Seated immediately. They seem very short of staff but this hardly impacted service much at all. They all work really hard. Excellent and patient service from Matthew. Shared a starter Charcuterie which was excellent.
Chose the day's special Pork Osso buco (Italian recipe ;-). Superbly cooked. Meat fell off the bone. Sauce really good, and the tagliatelle shone through a beautifully balanced, and large dish.
Yes they charge for bread, but what bread... Get some! We had two portions!
Profiteroles were a tad delayed so I suspect my portion was a bit bigger than usual... ;-)

Fantastic service for my party of 6 which was supposed to be 8. The reservation was super easy to make ahead of time by calling.

Most of us had their savory crepes and oh, my, they were delicious. So flavorful! I haven’t had anything quite like it.

The service was phenomenal. Whenever we had a simple issue, it was worked on quickly with no problem. The staff were very kind and added a lot of positivity to the restaurant.

The restaurant was also gorgeous on the inside, just absolutely stunning.

I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

P.S., I also noticed they had a variety of drinks, so this would be a good place to visit for a good selection.
