What an amazing place to find awesome books and souvenirs.

It’s a two floor bookstore, they have books on sale and in regular price.

I really love this bookstore.

The staff is super kind

Great place for both new and used books. It’s one of the few remaining book stores in SF!

Wide range of options, and not just books, but other fun, funky and eclectic things that go with books. Inspiring and classic San Francisco.

When they didn’t buy a couple of my books, I found out that there’s a couple boxes under the tables outside for donation.

Feels good to have a one stop shop for your buying, selling and offering free books to those who may be interested, when the shop can’t afford to take up their shelves with your previous reads.

I love a great old used bookstore and Green Apple is exactly one of those. Their main store is on Clement and their newer one is on 9th Ave. Although both have a very different feel from each other, both are great to browse, get lost in stories, and buy from.

Absolute delight.

Books for everyone... kids, grown ups, literature lovers, cooks, mapmakers, explorers, scientists, artist, writers, uou name it, they have it.

New and used books.

Sell books for cash or trade. Read their specs on selling.

This place is a HOUSE OF KNOWLEDGE AND JOY.

Aisles are on the narrow side for mobility aid users.

Street parking challenging but doable.

Close to buslines.

Great book store with lots of selections. The size is quite impressive guessing from outside.
I recommended going upstairs to explore the whole shop.

Staff was very friendly although I wish they were more attentive in helping me find the book I was looking for instead of just referring me to the section. I ended up not finding the book and had to order online, which is a loss for them and force me to give my money to Amazon instead of a local business like I wished.

This place holds so many memories. It's an institution with a rich history and magical atmosphere. So many nooks and crannies to explore, and a tremendous quantity of books to enjoy. If you need to go to one bookstore in the city, this is absolutely the one.

This is a wonderful book store with two floors, chairs for sitting and reading, and plenty of used books in great condition. This is a local business that's existed for decades and hopefully for decades to come.

I love a bookstore where you can go in with something in mind, but also find other goodies along the way. It’s like a scavenger hunt! Has unique Knick knacks aside from books, like cute and profane mugs :)

Green Apple Books is one of the best bookstores I’ve ever visited. For someone who is easily enticed by stacks of books, this place is heaven.

They’ve an eclectic collection of both new and used books. The collection is carefully curated, and while browsing the collection, one finds both well-written short reviews as well as quirky comments, which just adds to a book lover’s unbridled joy. Philosophy, science, cooking, fiction, non-fiction, history—any area you name, they have a huge collection of books in that area.

While on the second floor, I came across the ‘Granny Smith’ room, which has books on philosophy, classics, history and political science. Even though it was just a room, it seemed like another bookstore in itself. I spent hours perusing the room.

Their fiction collection deserves a special shout-out as well. It’s easy to find used amazing books of fiction(both new and old) here. I didn’t spend a lot of time here since I was scared I would end up adding 15-20 more books of fiction to my already picked up books. I found some solace in the fact that I would visit Green Apple again soon, and then pick those books of fiction.

The checkout was smooth as well. The person at the counter and I chatted a bit about Emma Donoghue, and she was kind enough to recommend another book of hers.

There are two levels at Green Apple and each level has a pretty amazing collection. The store is quite conspicuous, so you cannot miss it from the outside when you’re there.

Thank you for being there Green Apple, I’ll be back again soon!

Truly my favorite bookstore ever! The store is huge and their collection is extensive, with a wonderful used book selection in addition to their new books. Everyone that works there is always so kind and helpful; I love Green Apple!

For a used/new bookstore, the prices are pretty unbeatable!

Cozily cramped mix of new & used titles in a dreamy, shambling atmosphere. Nooks & crannies abound and the hand-written section markers are a nice touch; it feels like a magical garage sale or a bibliophile’s attic that’s been opened to the public. I love bookshops like this because every find feels like a discovery. Go lose a couple of hours. Though be forewarned: during my browse session two different people came in looking for a restroom and were politely notified that there isn’t one. Come with an empty bladder!

This place is AMAZING!!! Every single time you turn a corner there's another room or stairs leading to yet another section. I could get list and survive months inside there 24hrs a day!! I personally even LOVE the fact that staff is so real! I heard the F word from at least 5 staff but it was in a totally non offensive way!!??? LoL. GREAT PLACE!!!!

A wonderful, meandering treasure trove of new and used books, including unique finds, classics, journals, calendars, games, greeting cards, puzzles, and many other miscellaneous gifts. It's deceptively huge, with room after room of shelves packed high from floor to ceiling. This place oozes character and feels warm and homey, with super knowledgeable staff that can help you find exactly what you're looking for. These types of independent bookshops are a rare gem these days; it's nice to support a place with so much history.

Everything you love about a bookstore. The smell of aisles & aisles of old and new books. Beautiful writing supplies. Even the clerk chatting it up with a local. Very helpful staff. Great selection. Keep local bookstores alive!!

My absolute favorite bookstore in all of San Francisco. Every time I walk in I’m overcome with a sense of home and comfort. There selection of books is insane and they have so many categories to peruse through. You could spend days looking around through their collection. I always find a new book to buy or to put on my wish list. Such a special place my friends and I have had so many good memories here; strange to say for a bookstore but something about green apple is so sentimental.
