Melbourne Oriental Market

I am from Japan. We drove around the area to see many oriental markets in the area. This store has the best selection and presentation out of all the oriental markets we visited. The store is clean. It does not leak of fishy smell like some stores do. The owner and her dog are friendly and sweet. They will both remember you and if you stay, the lady will chat with you to catch up. 😊🐶 If you wanted recommendations, she can answer your questions. If you have questions about prices, just ask. She has a much larger selection of refrigerated and frozen foods, which are what I look for the most because they are hard to get online. It really looks like she gave lots of thoughts into choosing the products for her store. The products they have are authentic. We could not find anything we wanted to get from other stores, but we always find what we want from here. They dog she has is tiny. Today, was a cold day, so he was under a jacket staying warm. Often times, he is taking his nap. He was very well behaved and did not make a sound. He was very happy to see us and wagged his tail as he approached us at the counter to smell us. Other than that, he left us alone to shop. We enjoy talking with the owner when we come to see how each other is doing. She remembers the products we like and she can show us the new items she gets at her store, but she won't force you to buy something. When we are done, she always walks us to the door and say "See you next time." I almost do not want to tell everyone else what specific foods from this store is best so she won't sell out.😆 But her snack and dessert selection is great if you are into Japanese snacks. She also has a large selection of noodles (both fry and registered) and asian condiments (sauce, cooking wine, etc). You can also find soap, cooking utensils, bowls, eating utensils (chopsticks and whatnot), rice, produce, dried peoducts such as seaweeds and bonito flakes, rice seasoning, tea, bottled and canned beverages such as ramune and tea, tea snacks both sweeet and salty kinds, miso, tofu, takoyaki, ice cream, sometimes she also has Japanese imported breads. If you are into those things, give this store a try. Owner is learning Japanese language now. 😊

Our school holds an annual International Festival and we needed authentic Chinese food without the Chinese restaurant prices. Melbourne Oriental Market stepped forward, cooked everything we purchased, and delivered it to us on the day. We are only a short drive away from them and they saw it as a community service to a local school. Food was great, everyone loved it, and our Chinese population pronounced it authentic. Great people!!

Both owners were very helpful in suggesting and finding things for me. I see multiple reviews describing their following, but it’s not in a negative manner. They were just trying to be very helpful. They ask questions and were very friendly. The dog that was mentioned in one of the posts is a small Shih Tzu who was sitting quietly in a chair the entire time I was there (and was fine with petting). Overall a great experience. For a small store, they have a tremendous variety of all types of Asian food (including Pacific Islands, Hawaii, India, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, etc.).

We have been shopping here over the past seven years. They are very kind, informative, and helpful when it comes to purchasing ingredients for a recipe. They have the best imported jasmine rice, soy sauce, Cantonese noodles, sesame seed oil, frozen baos/dumplings/soup dumplings and fresh Asian vegetables. This place is a true gem in West Melbourne and we will continue to support them and all of the delicious imported items they offer.

Clean and Orderly ~ Very much appreciated the helpful owners who helped me find Everything I came for and needed in the first place ~ Plus More. Like the previous review mentioned, the owner was Very friendly, Very Chatty and got me to buy More than what I came in for. All in All, I enjoyed my visit and I will certainly be back. I was very surprised to find that they also carried foods from Hawaii ~ Who Does That ? ? ? they do . . . lol

Very nice Asian market, lots of Hawaiian foods in the frozen section to choose from. Missing Hawaii where I was raised and especially the food that I grew up eating, so glad they had some of my favorite in the frozen section. Nice family owned market, will be coming back for more of my Hawaii foods.

I was so pleased to find this store! They have so many hard to find items. The owners were super helpful and friendly, even chatty! It doesn't look like much from outside but it's packed with all kinds of ingredients, treats, and tools for asian cuisines.

I love this little family owned Grocery. I always find exotic new things to try. I mostly cook Sri-Lankan, but a lot of the veggies and ingredients are similar. They also have Rice Bran Oil - which is impossible to find. Perfect for frying Tempuras, and Papadums. Plus I love their little 4 legged baby.

Best place to find natto!!! Had everything japanese; pickles, soups, noodles, snacks, rice.

Love this place. Always so nice and helpful, good answers to any questions I have about ingredients to the dishes I want to make. I visit here twice a month and am always greeted with kindness.
