I got the most beautiful and delicious cake from Buttermilk. I was stunned by the gorgeous cakes they had ready for sale, and got the lemon raspberry cake with macrons on top. It was soooo gorgeous, and tasted as good as it looked! The friend I got it for was so excited and happy. I will definitely get my future cakes from Buttermilk!

I absolutely love this place. The entire energy of the store is beautiful, and the sweets are so appealing. I got the chocolate peanut butter pretzel pie for a little under $7. When I say I could eat like 3 of these in a row I mean it. I am so used to desserts being wayyy too sweet— this one is so balanced. Its crunchy, soft, sweet, and salty. Nothing in it is too overwhelming or overpowering. Knowing this dessert was so delightful I can’t wait to go back to try out their other desserts.

Stopped by with the family for some treats here. I couldn't resist the key lime pie on a stick...Holiday edition. Look at the detail on this masterpiece! This spot smells amazing and the staff is friendly. It's a must stop spot for sure.

The smell is divine! We smelled it and were drawn in! The look, the feel, the smell, and, finally, the taste...you must go! So creative and beautifully designed! So much variety! Hats off! I highly recommend the peach muffins!!!

I needed 2 last minute birthday cakes for my wife and son. I ordered from their friendly staff in the morning and picked them up the next afternoon. Both cakes were above my expectations in appearance and taste. They make beautiful cakes for a very reasonable price!

Oh my goodness everything here is so good. Stopped in while using the laundry mat around the corner since we are on vacation. Grabbed a nutter butter to eat while walking around, then came back and bought a few things to bring back to my family. Everything was fabulous.

I was given a strawberry dessert that was in the shape of a piece of pie. Covered with pink frosting and had a popsicle stick at the bottom in the middle. BEYOND

Best gluten free chocolate cake we've ever had!

I was looking for a birthday cake for my sister-in-law who is a fellow foodie who lives on Plum Island, MA and when searching options, Buttermilk Baking Co. came up and didn't disappoint!

I did a custom chocolate cake and then a dozen macaroons for the non-cake eaters.

The cake had tons of flavor and also stood up well two days later. The macaroons also were done to perfection and were gone almost immediately by our family.

I was so impressed, before we left town, I stopped in on a Saturday morning to get an assortment of muffins, cinnamon rolls, honey biscuit, etc. - the blueberry muffin was amazing!

This place is a "highly recommend" - and I rarely ever say that!

After a late lunch I Googled bake shops in Newburyport to grab dessert. Buttermilk was around the corner from where we were so off we go. When you walk in, you're immediately greeted by not only delicious looking treats but by staff. They had a wonderful assortment and my only regret was not grabbing one of their incredible looking, mini, pecan pies. I opted for the HUGE cinnamon roll, jumbo molasses cookies, a slice of their banana bread, and their popular - chocolate buttercream cupcake. Before ordering the cupcake, I dared to ask if it's true buttercream vs frost. I've asked at places before and the tend to say buttercream but what you're getting is frosting, which is made from shortening, not butter. The good inclination it's real buttercream is when the cupcakes are in a refrigerator. The shortening versions can stay in a regular showcase. My question was greeted with a smile, a joke, and making sure I knew that the question was not offensive in any way. The two ladies there were awesome. Okay so the cookies were insanely good, and their chocolate buttercream cupcake is one of the BEST I've had in years. Their buttercream frosting was not overly sweet and absolutely delicious, as was the chocolate cupcake under it. I literally inhaled it with a nice cold glass of milk. I let it sit out for 20 minutes before taking the first bite so the buttercream would soften a bit. I'm waiting on my significant other's return home to dive into the remaining treats and will report back. But seriously, after tasting these so far, this bakery's products are outstanding and I can't wait to return to try more of their variety. If you consider yourself a Foodie or a scratch baker, definitely do not miss this hidden gem!

Have only tried a birthday cake but everything looked yummy! Peanut Butter chocolate cake was fantastic, some said the best cake they’ve had! It’s definitely a pricier option but great for a special occasion. I was worried it was too small but the cake is so decadent that small pieces are perfect!

This bakery is a treasure! Everything I have bought has been a huge success. Their pies, cookies and honey biscuits are so delicious. At least twice a month we order a chicken pot pie for dinner. Truly the best in the area. What makes it such a special place though is the customer service. You can order ahead, place a special custom order and even ship a gift anywhere in the country. Thank you to Ashley and the team at Buttermilk.

Very few times I find myself trying to find words to describe an experience and in this case also products. Ashley, the owner, is one of those unique combinations of extremely professional, expert and love for her craft, and a wicked sense of humor to be her "cake topper!" Now for the product. We live all the way on the other side of the country from the store and had some of the items shipped to us. Think about that for a second. Cakes and pies shipped across the country. Tossed around, sitting out in a hot wear house, thrown around like a shot-put are only some of the many situations our order went through along its delivery journey. The care, quality, and ingredients that go into the making of these baked mouthwatering delights equally carries over into the attention to detail of how to combat the uncontrollable treatment of the shipment. Dry ice, padding that seems like it can withstand being kicked around like a soccer ball, it's absolutely mind blowing! All other bakeries need to pay buttermilk baking company on their ingenuity and engineering marvels on how to reach customers nation wide. To say I'm impressed and pleased on all judging categories is an understatement! While we on the west coast, our go to bakery moving forward is on the east coast! You will NOT be disappointed.

Awesome staff! I had to get a VERY inappropriate cake for an employees birthday and everyone working was super professional and we all had a good laugh over it. Definitely my new favorite bakery!

Buttermilk Baking Company made 250 cupcakes for our wedding along with a simple, yet beautiful two-tiered cake for cutting!! They looked amazing and tasted even better!! Our guests went back for seconds and asked for extras the next day!! Ashley was amazing and very accommodating. Thank you for adding to our amazing day!!

We've been enjoying amazing pastries from Buttermilk since before it was called Buttermilk. When the new owners took over, they took "amazing" to an entirely new level. They do a great job, they are incredibly friendly and the new additions to the menu are absolutely fantastic. Kudos to Buttermilk and may they have continued success!

I want to thank the bakers for the amazing coconut cake they baked for my husband's birthday. It was delicate and moist, flavored throughout with coconut, not too sweet, and the icing was perfection! And topped with a perfect chocolate wafer with Happy Birthday written! Seriously, the best cake we've had in years!!!!
