CLOSED - Vera Ristorante

What a great night! The food was incredible, the service wonderful, and the wine pours generous. I love that you can actually get a multi-course dinner here, with apps, smaller portions of pasta, mains, and dessert, all brought out in a spaces out manner so it gives you time to savor and enjoy everything.

The burrata and prosciutto appetizer was incredible, everything was so flavorful, down to the olive oil! I also enjoyed the Genovese pasta, which had a hearty amount of melt in your mouth short rib. My halibut entree was amazing, and my husband enjoyed his pork Milanese. Of course I wasn't going to skip out on dessert, not when everything else was so tasty, and it didn't disappoint- the chocolate cake was more of a chocolate mousse and it was so good! We had such a great time here, I can't wait to come back when it's warmer so we can enjoy the beautiful patio setup.

We stumbled upon this place during a weekend trip to Newburyport and we found a gem! The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly and the wine list was exquisite. The food tasted very fresh; I especially liked the halibut with veggie risotto.

The place also felt very clean. Everyone was wearing masks and the menus were single use. I noticed the staff in the kitchen wearing masks as well when I went to the bathroom, which was reassuring.

They even brought out a bowl of water for our dog, definitely dog friendly.

Can’t wait to come back!

The food was spectacular! We had the eggplant, octopus, and tuna to start, the Milanese and orecchiette as our entrees, and two desserts. Everything was bursting with flavor and the portions were huge!! I’ve never had such delicious food. The service was 10/10!! The waiter was friendly, answered all of our questions, and made excellent recommendations. We’ll be going here every time we’re in Newburyport from now on!! Hands down the best Italian food!

The best bolognese in town. Pizzas are great, too! Their manhattans and martinis are great. We love coming here in the winter, sitting at the bar, and splitting a pizza and getting a small pasta. A perfect night out!

They have a front and back patio - both are great (the back is really great if you have kids and need some space). Dogs are allowed on the patio and the staff is welcoming and wonderful.

The food was excellent. I got the bolognese and I saw the table next to us get pizza and it looked amazing. The bread was also incredible. Service was slow, but it looked like there was only one waiter so it was not a big deal. Get there before 6 PM if you can, around 6:30 on a Tuesday it was crazy busy. I would definitely come back.

This was the experience of my life, Lisa calm down the owner is 100/100. So nice and funny and nice slick back hair he is the best.

Fantastic Italian restaurant in Newburyport, MA. They were very accommodating to our party of 7. The staff was very attentive and the food was prepared perfectly and was delicious. Highly recommend for a either a small party or intimate evening.

Delicious food, great drinks. The Branzino they had was perfectly filleted and refreshing compared to how most restaurants serve it leaving you to pick through bones. The pepperoni is savory with a smoked flavor. The waiters were attentive and personable. Only drawback is the place is a small and tends to get loud

After reading a few reviews, I felt compelled to write a review of my own.

My girlfriend and I live in NBPT and frequent most of the restaurants in the area often and have for years. Vera quickly became one of our favorites. Unfortunately, they were set to open just as COVID hit. I cannot imagine what it must have been like for the owner and employees to put all the work, effort, time, and money into a brand new place to have that happen. They managed to hang on, no easy feat, I am sure.

The food is excellent and from what I have read, that is unquestionable. That is half the battle in the restaurant business.

The people are what make the place, from the owner John to Jo, Emily, Sara, James, and all of the others whose names I do not know. Everyone is terrific, friendly, and attentive.

As for the owner, John, I have not seen a more hard working owner. He is constantly moving, seating people, clearing tables, etc. Running a restaurant is like conducting an orchestra, and he constantly waves the baton whether we see it or not. He is always busy trying to keep things running smoothly with the help of his excellent staff. This is place is great in large part because John works hard to make it great.

Excellent food and atmosphere. The restaurant space is small, but that adds to the North End or European feel of it all. You don't have to go to Boston for excellent Italian-style dining. Highly recommend!

The food was exceptionally well prepared contemporary Italian cuisine. The bread, burrata, gnocchi and beef tenderloin with a light reduction sauce were all of the highest quality and presentation. I only hesitated with giving Vera 5 stars because the host could have been a little more disciplined with her decorum. Training in how to greet, act at the podium and bid good night to guests should not be overlooked. Vera R. is a great addition to Newburyport.

Moving in from near Providence RI. We were worried we wouldn’t be able to find a place that’s on par with the restaurants of Federal Hill. But we’re happy we found this spot. Our first meal here was red wine (of which they have a great selection) and margarita pizza.

Next time we’ll delve into pasta. But happy this place is here and wish it many years.

I love Vera Ristorante's food, service and atmosphere. We popped in the other night just for dessert. Their pana cotta is ridiculously good. As always, the service was great and dessert was awesome!

Brand new place that just opened in Newburyport. My family went up for the 4th of July weekend. Got to meet the owners, really nice guys. Got seated right away. The food was just amazing. Reminded me of Italy! Real deal. If you are in or passing through Newburyport, MA - this is the place to experience Italian food and the best service! Best wishes and luck to the hard working staff. Highly recommended!

Absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and I come here for casual nights out and special occasions. We have been eating at Vera since they opened and have been blown away since. The food, drinks, wait staff and owners are amazing. 10/10 I tell everyone about vera

Excellent fresh food, a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth the investment if you are looking to either impress or treat. Cocktails seem to be the weak point, focus on the food.
