Portside Waterfront Kitchen & Bar

Great service and food! I liked the atmosphere and interior. I was seated next to the fireplace and I never got hot. I had chicken tenders with teriyaki sauce for an appetizer, Steak bomb flatbread with steak tips,a caramelized onions, garlic anoili on top and salted caramel crunch cake for dessert. Parking was crampt, I could barely squeeze out of my door with the car next to me being so close, and I'm not overweight.
The woman who was my server was helpful and friendly.
I recommend a visit!
Update: February, 2020; I had the Mediterranean Flatbread, with the taco special, specially prepared shredded steak with mango salsa, and Lemoncello for dessert. All were good!
Update: Friday evening 🌆, August, 2021; I received a $10 gift card online from Portside. I had the Junior Burger 🍔, a five ounce with tomato 🍅, lettuce 🥬 and onion 🧅. I had cole slaw as a side. Cheese 🧀 costs extra. Cooked to my specifications, delicious 😋. So was the Tiramisu cupcake 🧁. My view of Newburyport was fantastic! I watched the bridge 🌉 go up twice. Valet parking 🅿 available.
Only issue. I ate on the wall of the deck and I 🤔 thought it was a little dirty. May want to repaint with a washable latex. Great service!
Update: Friday evening, August 2021; Black Bean burger 🍔 with house slaw. Mississippi Mud Square for dessert. Both tasted good, but, the burger fell apart while I was eating it. Service was not as good. The staff were not rude, but, were not very friendly. My server did help me access my discount I had through the Toast app.

Oh it was so good. I went for brunch. All of the food was delicious, the staff was friendly, the environment was great. It was ocean themed without feeling cheesey. I got a delicious Adult Iced Coffee, and I tried my wife's Bloody Mary, which had gigantic shrimp. I only had a sip, but it wasn't one of those burn-your-tongue-off-spicy bloody Marys, just all round really good. The eggs Benedict was delicious and the hash browns were nice and crispy without being burnt. Definitely want to go again for dinner.

I started going about 2 months ago. Tried the 50% off Wed night, not expecting MUCH honestly. But let me tell you, I've gone back EVERY week, at least once, sometimes twice because of good everything was. From waitress staff, to bartenders, to the management, the cleanliness and the FOOD! Oh not to forget the drinks, get the Peanut Butter Cup! Try it if you haven't and you'll go back as often as I do!

What a great place! Very large space, lots of tables. My wife and I went on a Friday night and we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server was excellent; offering to give us a larger table that wasn't being used, providing great service, being friendly.
I had the breaded Cornish game hen, which was excellent, and my wife had the scallop dish, which had 4 large scallops on a bed of mushroom risotto. Very tasty, and large portion.
The only complaint is the acoustics: a few decorative acoustic panels need to be installed to keep voices from bouncing around. I almost couldn't hear my wife over the level of other diners.
This will be a favorite spot for sure.

Everything was excellent. Had an early reservation in an igloo on the deck. Family had a blast, stayed warm with the portable heater and enjoyed the food. Wings, French onion soup and nachos to start off. Great staff, tasty drinks and super safe Covid restrictions.+++

Very tasty menu with generous portions. Loved the new sushi menu...especially the poke bowl. Nice list of local beers on draft and in cans.

This place is fantastic! Calamari cooked to perfection! Highly recommend the fish tacos. The fish doesn't get any fresher. Great atmosphere and craft cocktails too!

Very good food and good portions the food was very tasty it was worth every penny the waitress was very friendly and helpful and super nice.

The best spinach salad ever!! Loaded with beautiful artichokes and sliced, roasted red peppers with a tasty summer cocktail... the waterfront setting is tranquil and the afternoon entertainment with both guitar & harmonica was very enjoyable. Kudos!!

Going to a restaurant during pandemic might not be the best eating out experience, but Portside had manage to make my dinnertime great. First of all, the restaurant itself is very pristine and very welcoming. The foods are delicious and very filling. They gave out big portions, even thought the price are on the higher side. I recommend the fisherman's platter. I especially love how perfectly they cook the fried scallop. Pair it with (the best) tartar sauce, it is definitely one of the best scallop I have ever tried.

If it is possible, reserve a table on the patio. It might not be the perfect view, but it is very comfortable out on their patio.

Delicious dinner with a friend last night. Spinach artichoke dip was so good and I loved my Reuben with fries! Service was fast and friendly. Food was hot and came out quickly. Drinks were great too.

Went for lunch on a Monday (always a risk on a first time visit) with my wife and her girlfriend having a birthday. We were pleasantly surprised. We were served by Cathy - very fun loving and efficient. Food/drinks excellent. Portions large. Extensive salad bar. Service great. Received a free desert for the birthday girl. Nice view of Newburyport once the sailboats are moved to the river. Not too expensive. We plan to go back soon.

Our first time eating here.My husband had the surf and turf with mashed potatoes and green beans. Tenderloin tips were very tender. I had the beef Bolognese bake very generous portion and lots of ground meat in the Bolognese. The dinners were pricey! Customers service was very good and our server was very attentive. They didn't have a very big dinner menu. Views of the Newburyport harbor are great but not able to see it because the boats were in front and were covered with tarps so spoiled the view.

Delicious! Had the steak tips- very nice! My friend had scallops and they were good too. Heather was a darling! Ask for her!
Don't forget to order the blackberry martini!

New owners - new menu - completely renovated!!! Don't be fooled by the bad reviews and low star ratings, they were for the previous restaurant, as well as, most of the pictures shown here. The outside dining experience is wonderful and the food is superb. I would give it $$$ for price, but worth it. Fantastic raw bar with a great selection of oysters from around the seacoast (10 different to be exact) and the fishmonger knows his stuff. Free valet so don't bother looking for a parking space. Great find!

We had a nice time tonight at Vasa. We sat outside with a gorgeous view of the river. We had 1/2 price apps and drinks. The wings were too spicy for some of us. But that's just our taste. Jennifer was a great server. We will be back.

We sat out on the deck with a DJ celebrating their 2 year anniversary. They have an amazingling detailed drink menu with lots of food choices for every taste. I would recommend this consistently excellent restaurant to all.

Really nice place! Atmosphere is clean and well decorated. Food was delicious! Had the seared scallops and tastes of the tacos and chowder, all very good. Hope to come back again!

We have been to Michaels and the Deck and tried Portside for the first time this past Sunday. Let me start by saying this is our new favorite place and will be making a reservation for next Sunday. Our waitress Alina was beyond amazing and accommodating she made us feel so welcome and had answers to every question we had about the new establishment , and (amazing Reggae loved them), and the new Inn. The Jerk chicken is the best we've ever had and we can't wait to go back. Love that we found our new regular spot!!!
