Chef Lau

Drove 2 hours to vsit Chef Lau from Boston for 2 times, tried different dishes, all came out with excellent taste and quality. The most authentic Hongkong food we have ever eaten in the New England area.

The poached chicken is what chinese food should be, real food cooked without needing to be submerged in a puddle of sugary, salty ooze to taste good. It comes with ginger sauce, which was fresh and full of flavor. The roast pork is even better, sweet and tender like boneless ribs minus the excess oils and additives. I'm also a fan of their pork fried rice, which is the tastiest in the region.

I believe this is the finest Chinese restaurant in Amherst. The service here is exceptional, and the warmth and friendliness of the staff, especially the Chinese lady, truly enhance the dining experience. The steamed sea bass was an absolute delight, incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. However, my personal highlight was the salted egg yolk with chicken wings, a flavor combination that left a lasting impression. Trust me, you must try this place!!

I really enjoy eating the food at Chef Lau’s. I usually order the salt and pepper squid, but I wanted to shake things up today so I elected to order the chicken and broccoli combination! What a surprise, the chicken was well seasoned, the broccoli was fresh, crunchy but not raw, and the fried rice tasted so real, not the usual stuff you get from a Chinese restaurant, but a lightly seasoned, not too salty, very deliciously prepared fried rice with carrots, peas and eggs. Everything was freshly stir fried and you can taste the difference and the light flame touched flavor. I will definitely be back!

So far everything I have tried is delicious. The spicy wings are incredible the way it is presented and served. Looking forward to trying salt and pepper calamari. The shrimp with vegetables was fantastic. I highly recommend this.

I stopped in to Chef Lau for a take out order of vegetable fried rice. I had never been to this restaurant before and I was pleasantly surprised. It was absolutely delicious, lightly seasoned and loaded with vegetables…perhaps the best I’ve ever had. I will not be a stranger to this wonderful restaurant!

Chef Lau has everything you could want from a Chinese restaurant, if you are a casual diner. The food is excellent, seems authentic, and is advertised as Hong Kong cuisine (As an American who has never been to China I can't discern if this is true). Service is always prompt, with no mistakes or misunderstanding. The auntie who seems to be in charge is kind and professional. There are a few tables I like to use if I'm not in a rush. I come here on break at work and will continue for the foreseeable future.

The best Chinese restaurant in town from my own perspective. The taste is just like the food I had in HK. And the poached chicken over rice is my favorite option. In addition, the fried rice is also great and the portion is very satisfying.

Ate here for lunch. Duck dish and jumbo shrimp. Excellent quality. Very pleasant and satisfying. I will be returning. Nice people as well

Food was excellent. I bought To-Go. Beef with peppers, beef fried rice, spring rolls and wonton soup; all delicious. The place is really small; one table with 4 chairs only.

Loved Chef Lau, the general Tso chicken is really good and their vegetable fried rice is amazing. They don't make it brimming with soy so it looks pale, but the taste is on point. Yummy.

I’ve lived near this place for a while, but only just took the time to try it out. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. Great prices and great food, totally recommend!

Chef Lau is one of my favorite restaurants in Amherst. Everyone there is so kind. I will always remember how they left a special message in my order when they found out it was my birthday. I love their pork fried rice and chicken teriyaki!

I have just moved to the area and I like spicy food, I went to the restaurant and asked them to make it a little hot for me and they made really good tasting food for me. I don’t like the sweet taste in American Chinese cuisine and They just got it right it is amazing just tell them how you want it and they will make it fresh for you. I'm so glad to find a Chinese Restaurant so close to my home. I have ordered here twice in the last 3 weeks. Take home order. Great quality Chinese food. I ordered the Chefs rice with crab Rangoon the first time. Two meals worth of food. Great tasting food. This past order was the General Tso's Chicken with crab Rangoon. Another filling and great meal. Left overs for tomorrow, Can't wait maybe a midnight snack . Keep up the great job I will see you next Friday when I stop by to take home dinner for the weekend. Everyone needs to try this place at least once. Will not regret it .

One of my favorite restaurants in the area! Food is great and the people are friendly and welcoming. Lunch combos are always on point.

It was very clean inside. Very pleasant people who worked there. The food was beyond good. We are in love with this place. It's our new favorite Chinese food. We got General chicken, which was so good. We got it not too spicy. Also, crispy chicken wings and lo mien. All of it was amazing, plenty to share. We will return for sure.

Best authentic Chinese food. Owners are super nice. Everything is fresh. Love all the Hong Kong dishes. The chow fun is amazing!
