Sarah Brown's Comfort Food

We were in Martha's Vineyard exploring Oak Bluffs when we came across this gem. This restaurant is BY FAR the BEST soul food I have ever had. Everything was absolutely delicious. The lobster tail, the filet mignon, the whiting fish (add some hot sauce), the macaroni and cheese, the okra, the spinach, the yams, the potato salad, the broccoli and the CORNBREAD!!! We left the restaurant very happy with full belly's! Bon Appetit

We loved it. Best bbq ribs I have ever tasted besides my own. The cornbread is to die for. I don't like string beans, but I took 2nds with how good these were. The staff and owners were very attentive and wore masks.

Possibly the best restaurant service I’ve ever had. The hostess could not have been any nicer. She treated us like family, going out of her way to make sure that my gluten-free friend had plenty of options and periodically checked in to ensure we were enjoying our experience. The chef himself even came out to make sure we were satisfied with our meals.

The cornbread was unlike any I’ve had before and the meals all came out within ten minutes of ordering. The food was great and the staff all seemed to genuinely care about the wellbeing of their customers. My experience at Sarah Brown’s ended up being the highlight of our trip. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an enjoyable dining experience in Oak Bluffs.

This is some of the best soul food I’ve had in a long time. It was really nice to have this option on the island. I ordered fried chicken, yams, Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, potato salad, and PEACH COBBLER. And my goodness, it was so delicious I went back the next day to get the entire order again to take back home to NYC. Also, the staff, as well as, the owners are some of the sweetest, kindest people you will ever meet. My trips to Martha’s Vineyard just became much more exciting thanks to Sarah Brown’s.

My daughter and I were walking on the street and smelled something fabulous. We stopped to see if they could accommodate 2 for dinner and they happily did. Happily for us I had an amazing steak cooked to perfection my daughter was thrilled with the corn bread that was warm and moist. The service was wonderfully attentive . This family run crew really has it together. Best meal we had in Martha’s Vineyard. Nice portions and good music

There should be a line of customers! Fried chicken was amazing, portions generous, collard greens right on the money. Too full to try the peach cobbler yet but aces all round. Order in advance and either eat at the picnic tables or take with but GO! So good!

We were here visiting for the past week, and were encouraged to try Sarah Brown’s from several locals and friends. It was BEYOND our expectations!!!! Not only was the food delicious, it was piping hot when it was brought to our table. It did arrive in rounds (not more than 5 min apart), but they brought it out as it was coming out of the oven—-and it was worth it. They hard large servings and great side options. We went with the trifecta-collards, man n cheese, and candies yams. They did not disappoint. My husband and I are both from the South and grew up with awesome soul food. This food was reminiscent of my great grandmother’s from the cornbread to the collards to the perfectly seasoned fried chicken. Whatever you do, order the peach cobbler and thank me later!! The service was warm and personable and made our lunch immensely pleasant.

This is their first summer on MV as a brick and mortar, and I commend them for their level of service and care in the midst of a pandemic. This is their opening season, and they are coming out the gate swinging with the food, while also working under very limiting conditions with capacity of their restaurant. The inside is lovely, clean, and very modern, while the takeout window has a line outside (worthy reason of course 😋).

After a delightful day at the Vineyard it was our endeavor to have dinner and return to New York unscathed by the Pandemic. The most obvious place to conclude this fabulous Baecation with my husband was Sarah Brown's Comfort Food. From the pristine bar and booths, to the professionalism of the staff and owners, we knew we selected a winner!!! With the COVID-19 stringent policies in place at the door, proper PPE gear, and social distancing, we were ready for food to comfort or souls. Well they did not disappoint. From smothered turkey wings, mac and cheese and greens to yams, corn bread and Arnold Palmer we were stuffed, but i had to try the pan seared, brussel sprouts alive with garlic and butter!! These decadent, fresh and delicious dishes were perfectly portioned. With enough to even take some home, we weren't brilliant enough to just get the peach cobbler anyway. Do you think you've had amazing fried chicken? Well you have not, unless you've eaten here. Cornbread, collard greens, and amazing potato salad just sealed the deal. My level of comfort right now is to lay down, cause this is the most amazing medley that you will ever get from fried anything. Go here. Immediately.

Excellent food and customer service. Very safe during Covid, drink was extra strong! Family owned and operated, we were given corn bread before the meal which was amazing. Thank you to the owners. We got eggplant marinara and filet mignon, so good.

Sarah Brown's is everything you would expect from southern comfort food but better. Every dish we ordered was incredible and flavorful. The highlights were the string bean and the fried chicken. This place had my whole family raving!

Exceptionally Great Food!

The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered Salmon, brussel sprouts, yams and the peach cobbler. The servings were well-proportioned, and the food was well-seasoned and scrumptious. The peach cobbler was decadent! The best soul food on Marthas Vineyard! The staff was really friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend SB.

OMG!! As a Southerner and married to a Southern belle who KNOWS our SOUTHERN cuisines and signature dishes, we are ALWAYS cautious and reluctant when NORTHERNERS try to sell and cook our dishes we have come to love and esteem highly. But then came Sarah Brown’s who did everything from created an ambiance to giving us the red carpet, VIP treatment! And for them to be extremely cautious about our care while eating at their establishment during their 1st season of opening (4 weeks ago) and a major pandemic, let me just say, they came out fighting!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you make reservations (like my wife and I did) so that you can truly experience Sarah Brown’s ambiance in its totality, while during this pandemic! Getting take out is also excellent if you just can’t dine in! The food from the fried chicken to the collard greens to Mac &Cheese, and candied yams was extremely well cooked and served straight from the stove tops and oven! Even the cornbread gave me goose bumps because it tasted sooooo goooood!!! The peach cobbler.....to die for and a MUST HAVE... and that “Joy Juice”....let’s just say when added to some Crown Royal Apple, makes you wanna shout “Hallelujah!” I just felt the soul and the heart of the African American experience in every bite!

The customer service.....just as good as the food they served! Again, even though it is a pandemic and they were also serving people who did not have reservations, they still provided “that Southerner experience and hospitality” that you can only present when you are cooking and serving these kinds of foods! Sarah Brown’s, THANK YOU for your 5 star treatment to my wife and I and taking us back to our childhood memories of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers and bringing Florida and North Carolina to us! We are DEFINITELY coming back and telling our friends to see you all when they come in August!!! God bless you all as you continue your business during this pandemic!

It felt like eating at grandma’s house, without actually being there. The food was delicious and the hospitality was top notch. The staff treated my wife and I like family (Yes I used my same last name to my advantage!) If you’re ever on the vineyard, this is definitely a restaurant worth trying out!

This restaurant was Great!! The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. I’ve been to several comfort food spots and I truly appreciated the flavor and portion sizes at this establishment. If you looking for good food and good service in Oak Bluff, Sarah Browns is the spot!!!

Loved the vegetarian options. Corn bread was sooooooo warm & delicious! And the birthday celebration …, omg! It was a soul performance by all the employees!

Got takeout for dinner tonight - the oxtail, baked chicken, Brussels sprouts, and cornbread were all FABULOUS! Will definitely go back.

Best Mac and cheese in New England! Worth the trip to Martha’s Vineyard just for this restaurant. Good service and great vibes.
