What a treat to experience the oldest platform carousel ride in America! Give little ones a heads up that the horses are stationary - unlike today’s amusement park horses. Plus, don’t miss out on the ring game. Try to win a free ride by grabbing a brass ring! This little gem of a spot is worth stopping by for family fun!

While passing through Oak Bluffs we read an article about a woman retiring from working at The Flying Horses Carousel named Robin. After lunch at Lookout Tavern (amazing lobster rolls) we walked over to the Horses. They were just past closing but we popped in and were fortunate to meet Robin and she shared the history of the carousel and it’s 150 years of entertaining so many. What a treasure!!

This was a cute and quick stop. It's the oldest carousel in operation.

I totally tried to win at the ring toss game. If you want to get good pictures, go towards the back of the arcade near the photo booth. The door is open and you can take pictures of the carrousel unobstructed by people.

Beautiful antique carousel! We went during the off season (late September) so it's only open for rides on weekends, but they had it open for a few hours for photos on a Wednesday which was great.

Very interactive. It is not your typical carousel, where you just sit and ride the horse. While riding, the goal is to pull some rings, out of a sleeve. These rings grant you free rides. I thought it was very entertaining. Plus, it is the oldest operating carousel! How cool is that!

Always so much fun! However I believe today has beat my record of the most times I’ve gone on without getting off a hourse @ all! Which was absolutely no complaints from my 2yr old. Contributing to my multiple rides was either my self or two-year-old won a free ride by getting the brass ring. If your not familiar with the flying horses, then it allows you to stay on the carousel for a free ride, or option of receiving a “golden ticket” to use in the future for free! To sum it up, I personally don’t visit MV without having the flying horses @ the top of my priority list of activities to enjoy while visiting the island.

Best carousel I have ever been on. Fun mini game with rings while riding keeps both kids and adults entertained!

Very fun! Get the brass ring and get to go again for free! A little expensive but historic!

Great old carousel for all ages. Be sure to Google "grab the brass ring" to learn where this saying comes from, as you'll get to participate in trying to grab one at Flying Horses. There are some video games, popcorn/snacks, and small kiddie rides there too, though the main attraction is clearly the historic, beautiful, carousel.

Our wait was short...under 3-5 minutes, and during which we watched others. The cost was $4 per person per ride, or $35 for 10 rides. The kids (and adults) love the thrills of grabbing rings on the outside or inside and the possibility of getting the brass ring which wins one a free ride

Incredible piece of history.

WOW 😳...I happened to be scrolling by to show my grandkids where I went to summer camp at...When I seen the horse carousel 🎠 it brought back memories from the 1960s playing endlessly day after day on the horses... when you got a gold ring it really made you feel special...I can't believe they are still in business... Thanks for the GOOD memories...🥰

This place is great you have to experience it.
I'm 63 and I still do it with my 18 year old daughter and I'm not a wimp.

Nostalgic tradition. I came here as a kid and it's wonderful to see it still in operation and to share the experience with my child!

Get the 10 ticket ride card you will need it. Little kids should sit on inside horses to reach the rings better. Such a run place!

What a magical place the Flying Horses Carousel is for both the young (and not so young). Riding a horse and trying to capture a brass ring never gets old! A must do while in Oak Bluffs! 🐎 🐎 🐎

Great family experience! Tickets are 4 dollars, however they let my infant ride for free. Everyone seem to be having a great time and they offer old timey concessions for nostalgia. (Only downside- they did not let me keep a ticket stub for his photo album which was a bummer!)
