The Covington Restaurant

I now have a new favorite restaurant! Covington has exceptional staff, amazing flavors and combinations, top notch freshness, and is an all-around fantastic place. We actually went back for dinner here during our four night stay because it was that good, and we wanted to try the other dishes. We shared the sweet potato rolls, squash and beans, smoked beets, garden salad, basil and walnut pesto ricotta gnocchi, and mushroom ragu. All were amazingly delicious and presented quickly and beautifully. Both evenings we dined outside at a lovely little side table. This place is hard to beat! I would give it six stars if I could.

Knock my socks off! Wait, we don’t wear socks on Martha’s Vineyard. No matter. This restaurant welcomed us without a reservation and treated us like royalty. The food was crazy good and the non alcoholic drinks were amazingly creative and healthy. Can’t wait to go back. 5 stars!

Wow! The food is amazing! Hard to believe but the artisan sourdough bread with the spread was indescribably delicious! The smoked beets appetizer was also a taste sensation. The halibut was tasty

What a good find! The food is the best I've tried on the island. Above and beyond with flavors and variety of ingredients. I had the seafood homemade pasta that was absolutely delicious. I will be back! Oh, and staff was incredibly polity and attentive, better than average.

What a wonderful dinner that we stumbled upon. Outside on the side patio we started off with the cold spicy cucumber appetizer and the cheeseboard. A perfect balance of spicy (definitely on the spicy side) and coolness. The cheeseboard was small but very good also. Main courses consisted of the kale salad which was really very good and the mushroom ragout which was out of this world! Definitely eat here while visiting Edgartown.

My wife and I were visiting MV for our anniversary. We stumbled upon this place to grab a drink and a snack. What a fabulous experience. The staff is exceptional and professional. The food is amazing. The marinated olives are some of the best we've ever had. If you're foodie's like us, visit The Covington. Caitlin was awesome!

We had a great meal, great wine, and great service at The Covington. The interior of the restaurant was lighter and brighter than The Port Hunter across the street and a little quieter. The food at the Covington was very fresh, with refined flavors, and was presented beautifully. We started with a spicy cucumber salad, delicious, a squid ink pasta with egg yolk and the fresh catch of the day which was exceptional. Our waiter was a young man we recognized from a nearby wine shop and he provided great suggestions for wine and gave very attentive service. While the Port hUnter was a little more of a social atmosphere, the Covington was a lovely place for an intimate, delicious meal.

Oh my gosh. I had the best drink I've ever had here! It's called the "Chilmark Old Fashion" and it's unbelievable. If you enjoy whiskey/bourbon/scotch and coffee, this is going to blow your mind. I went back later in the week specifically for that drink.

As to the food, it's great. The service was excellent. I highly recommend going here. Ironically, across the street there was a line out the door. I was quite happy sipping my cocktail on their sidewalk patio watching everyone else wait to get in.

Our best meal & best drinks on the island. From the bread service to dessert (Honey Pie) every bite was enjoyed. I loved the seafood brodo & my wife’s halibut was excellent.

The food was beyond exceptional, the flavor profile hit all the right notes… our server was Summer who was a breath of fresh air being so knowledgeable about the menu and where the food was sourced. The atmosphere (outside side walk) was mediocre at best, but thankfully the food and service did all the heavy lifting and it worked. I can’t wait to go back.

Our second time dining at The Covington and it didn’t disappoint. We split the spicy cucumbers which were once again excellent and also the clams with chorizo. Delicious. We normally don’t get the same entree but couldn’t resist the bolognese which was very good. Wonderful service and so all in all a great experience.

If you only go to one restaurant in Edgartown, make it this one. The food is exquisite. Flavors keep rolling off your tongue with each dish. Think Mediterranean with a twist. Cocktails were complex and delicious. Right in the heart of things, but don’t let that stop you. Just a few blocks from the bus depot if you are coming from OB or VH. Don’t drive into Edgartown if you want to enjoy dinner. The service was superb. Our server had a great handle on the menu and good recommendations. Just an all around wonderful dining experience!

Perfect for date night. Call ahead if you don’t have a res. Fantastic service. Phenomenal food. Highly recommend the halibut and the bone in pork chop. The corn cakes are to die for. Did I mention the killer cocktails and wines by the bottle (<$60!)?!

Everything was delicious from the potato bread, to the honey pie, just excellent. Dinging one star from atmosphere just because the seating was outside on the side of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I don't have photos of our meal because we had such an amazing time, I forgot about my phone! Went to dinner last night at the Covington after making a reservation online a few hours before - I had requested a booth and when we arrived, that's where we sat. Our server Evan was FABULOUS. He knew the menu, the specials, and was very well versed in the cocktails. He checked on us just the right amount of times too - not too little, not too much. I asked for a mocktail and left it up to him, and I ended up with a creative, delightful drink!

Our dinner was also delicious, the Chef is incredible. The shared appetizers: babaganoush, whipped feta on house made English muffin, the spicy cucumbers - SO good. The entrees: spring lamb bucatini, arugula pesto campanelle (both pastas made in house) and my halibut with green faro and Meyer lemon beurre blanc were to die for. Dessert: gluten free chocolate cake with orange meringue and the second dessert was a divine coconut yogurt with fresh berries.

I can't recommend this place enough - for the food, the ambiance, the great service. A must! (actually found one photo on my phone, of the chocolate cake we ordered and they brought it with a candle for my friend's birthday without us asking!)

Wonderful Dining experience! Service was good. Everything from drinks to the appetizers to main course were exquisite. We loved the Clams , pickled cucumbers and the beet salad.
Will return on an empty stomach to enjoy the full course next time we visit.

Absurdly good food and a special atmosphere on a nice night if you sit outside. Even the Edgartown skunks outside are friendly and charming here.

The Covington is a lovely non-touristic high-end restaurant perfect for those special occasions! My type of place: well thought out décor, extremely well trained and lovely, engaging staff, and of course, delicious fresh, well prepared food made of high end ingredients. The homemade pasta with bolognese was top notch and I highly recommend. Best bolognese I have had in the US!

Fabulous creative food & interesting wines! Like a good Manhattan restaurant, with local ingredients and airy space.
Great seafood and vegetables; roast halibut belly and collar is the best I’ve ever had.
Cocktails fall short: ambitious but unbalanced; the only flaw.
A gem, worth repeat visits.
