this place is the best!! they have lots of options, their coffee is great, the servers are all very nice, and food comes out quickly. shrimp & grits are amazing as well as the pecan waffles. i do wish they had a bigger parking lot. people like to block the back so it turns into a one-way with no exit. can’t wait to try more stuff on their menu :)

I got the Biscuits and Gravy Omelette and it was different but yummy! The grits were okay. They were the grits of the day. Next time I would get regular grits instead. They have some good cocktails to start your morning. I can’t wait but I will be back to try the Lemon Lover’s Dream Cakes.. I need it!

Our breakfast was delicious! Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The service wasn't the best and parking was challenging but the food made up for all of that.

I always like to get a half order of biscuits & gravy to start. Food is always delicious & quick! You can also order a half order of pancakes, if there's one you wanna try because they are huge! Half order just comes with the 1 vs. 2. Bloody Mary was astounding, loved the seasoning on the rim of the glass, also doesn't hurt to have a slice of bacon in it either 🥓

Hostess was very nice our server wasn't very friendly she seemed stressed and unhappy.
Food was good but a little pricey for side potatoes.
Had loaded baked potato omelette, crab cake eggs Benedict, loaded burrito and wake me up omelet

Excellent breakfast. I had a biscuits and Gravy omelette with Skillet potatoes. Hubby had a wake me up omelette with skillet potatoes. Both were fantastic. The View, at first seem to be looking at a boring building across the street, also afforded a view of the trains going by. I was surprised by the charge for the skillet potatoes, not knowing that they were a la carte. Otherwise fantastic.

Visited on Sunday morning at 9a and there were many open tables but by 10a, all tables were taken and there was a line of people on the sidewalk waiting to be seated. Breakfast menu is large and varied. Food and service are excellent.
Highly recommended restaurant for breakfast.

Soooooo good! Crab cake eggs benedict, it was perfect. Biscuits and gravy is a must. Best I've ever had.
Atmosphere was really nice. Restaurant was really clean.
I'm so happy this place is in my backyard I look forward to going here many many times.

Update: came back, it's just as good as the first time! This time I got the stuffed French toast and Baja eggs Benedict. Both were amazing! The potatoes were sooooo yummy! My husband got the veggie omelet. He is super picky, but said he liked it.

So so so good! I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got a monte Cristo and stuffed French toast! Both were sooooo good! My daughter got the breakfast burrito and had to stop after the first bite to savor it for a bit! This is definitely someplace to come try out! It was amazing!

Wow! Why have we not gone here before ?!? Food was killer! Had the stuffed French toast and bacon/cheese grits. Wife had the eggs Benedict. Prices were spot on and proportions were great too! Place was clean and staff was nice. Coffee was local and actually had a dark roast! Plenty of parking on side and behind place too.

Such a beautiful place to have a bite or two. The walls are laden with city post-cards and witty artwork. The dishes are flavorful, colorful as nothing we’ve seen before. Great service too, with attentive staff making for a very pleasant experience. Priced correctly , their menu is a trip of color, texture, flavor and possibilities.
Highly recommended.

The food was very good and the service was good as well. My only complaint was that the music was extremely loud over a JBL speaker in the middle of the room. The biscuits and gravy are always very very good.

Here from Arkansas and missing the feel of a home town breakfast cafe. Highland Morning St. Matthew's did not disappoint!! I had the ever popular Baja Eggs Benedict. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere. Small but big enough that no one was left waiting for a table. Would live to come again.

First time here and won't be the last. Amazing food. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Never had to has for refills on our coffee or drinks. Sara was the best. We will return again and again.

This place is always amazing. Great quality food and good service with a smile. I ordered the loop egg sandwich and my wife, the lemon lover's pancakes. I've tried several things on the menu and nothing disappoints. Try everything before you decide on a favorite!

This was my first time here and let me say, I am impressed. The staff was friendly and masked, tables were spaced appropriately in this intimate space. It wasn't busy when I got here so my food was to the table almost as soon as i finished ordering. Menus can be found by scanning the table, which i think is a great way to pivot in these times of covid. The food was plentiful and the mimosa was strong. No complaints here, will definitely suggest this as a place to eat for my clients!

There are not many places on Louisville that remind me of being back home in New England but Highland Morning is very close. They have a great selection for everyone and staff are always friendly.

I've always ordered the Baja Benedict. I know other things sound wonderful but it's just soooo good! And those skillet potatoes are what wild eggs used to be but now theirs are awful and not real skillet potatoes. Highland morning is the best around!
