Best lil restaurant in St. Matthews with an old school vibe. The dogs are delicious and so reasonably priced! The service is warm and friendly! Love the Chicago memorabilia. I cherish this place with all the glam and overpriced restaurants that have infiltrated the area, Lonnie’s is classic!

Hands-down the best authentic “Chicago-style” dog in Louisville. Nothing fancy, just friendly folks serving some delicious dogs. The Clark Street is amazing and is my personal favorite. It can get crowded extremely fast in here, and parking is abysmal, but it’s worth it.

Was craving a meaty sandwich today. Ended up at Lonnie's. I had only been once more than 10 years ago. I tell you what, it's going to be a go-to comfort spot from now on. Very fortunate to have been there on a Friday, so we got to try THE best catfish I've ever had. Our Italian beef sandwiches with melty cheese and hot peppers hit the spot exactly, and those giant crunchy crinkle fries are a treasure.top it off with excellent music, a fun vibe, and friendly service. What a gift we have in Lonnie's!

I can’t even put into words how absolutely delicious these were. So much so that I finished them in the parking lot, went back in and got 2 more 😩

Great food, fantastic atmosphere. They have some of the best Italian beef since I've been in Chicago. Cheese fries are great and so are the sausage.

Had a great meal. Service was awesome. Had the Clark St. Hot dog, Wabash Chili dog, 3" Italian beef, fries, and a double burger with cheese. All were delicious, our son especially liked the fries. A lot of Chicago sports posters and items added to the Chicago feel.

Over the holidays Fat Man Reviews found its way to Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago in Louisville, KY. Lonnie's serves Chicago-style food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, beef sandwiches and have been around since 2001.

I decided to try a Clark Street Hot Dog or more commonly known as a Chicago dog. This is a pure beef dog served on a steamed poppy seed bun with yellow mustard, piccalilli relish, fresh chopped onions, tomato wedges, cucumbers, sport peppers, and celery salt. The dog has a great snap to the casing and was grilled to perfection. The bun was soft, and the veggies added a great texture and taste to the entire experience. The sport peppers added heat and the relish was bright green and sweet. I only wish I ordered extra relish as it was delicious.

I also had Spicy Beef sandwich, extra wet. It came with sliced Italian beef in au jus garnished with a hot, spicy sauce along with hot peppers on a roll. The roll was soft and soaked in au jus, the hot peppers were crunchy and spicy, the sauce is a mustard type of sauce that is spicy with a hint of sweetness. The beef is juicy, tender and sliced thin. This is a wonderful sandwich and I wanted another one when I was finished.

My fiancé tried a Congress Cheese Dog. This is a pure beef dog served on a poppy seed bun, smothered with hot melted cheese and celery salt. Again, the snap and grilling was great, the bun was soft, and the cheese was awesome. It reminded me of cheese whiz but better. Another great dog.

She also tried a 3" Baby Beef sandwich, wet. It comes with Sliced Italian beef in au jus served on a 3-inch roll, and she added hot peppers (optional). Just like the sandwich before it was great, and the peppers are a must. I like mine extra wet, but normal wet is great too.

Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago is a small joint with very little seating. It is run by a wonderful husband and wife team that just make great food. They are open 6 days a week but will post on Facebook when they are closed. Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago is Fat Man Approved and highly Recommended.

My new favorite restaurant in Louisville! I grew up in the Chicagoland area and Lonnie's is the real deal. I had the Chicago Dog (I forget what they call it) and the 6" Italian Beef. Both were fantastic! They are changing their hours to stay open a little later during the week.

Phenomenal nostalgic Chicago experience. Hot dog fully dressed and a chili cheese dog, too. Amazing food, mighty tasty. 😋Freshly prepared with authentic Chicago condiments. Wonderful owners, friendly and welcoming. I have an entire menu to conquer and one by one I will. You'll love it! 💜 Just go.

had the Italian sausage-had a little bite but not spicy (to me), fries were highly crispy but not burnt at all, background music was upbeat jazzy covers of early 2000 hip hop, and there's plenty of Chicago memorabilia around the store

I had been looking for some place local that has a great Chicago dog. I happened to spot this place one day driving and not listening to my GPS. I told my wife and kids about it and we made it a point to stop in and see Lonnie. We were not disappointed. I am all about supporting small businesses, and Lonnie will be getting more of my business. If you're in the mood for Chicago-style classics it's got to be Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago in St Matthews! Lonnie and Diane have been serving up italian beef, polish sausage, Italian sausage, burgers, gyros, cheese fries, Chicago dogs, specialty sides and desserts since 2001. The food is delicious, the owners are great and the pride they have for Chi-Town and Louisville can't be beat.

THE BEAT DOGS IN LOUISVILLE! The people running this place are super nice and love to see you enjoy their food. The food is authentic, and true to its cultures. The tiny little restaurant is producing tons of delicious food right in front of you! I will be visiting this place a lot more!

I ate there this afternoon for lunch for the first time. The food was so delicious and staff was very friendly! There's only a few places around town that prepare Italian beef sandwiches and I can honestly say Lonnie's is by for the best tasting. I will definitely be back as a regular!

Now that I eat meat, you CAN NOT WILL NOT keep me from Lonnie's! A family run business built with heart, dedication, and flavor!

My favorites are the Wabash chili dog and the Clark Street dog (omit the tomatoes). The Wabash chili dog hits my need of chili with freshly chopped onions, while the Clark Street gives me all things pickled!

Anyone who knows me would be suprised to know this is a type of food I eat. Lonnie's made me a fan but for only Lonnie's!

So, even if you do not like hot dogs ir chili... Lonnie's will make you a fan! Not to mention the kind conversation while waiting for your freshly made order!

Lonnie's is amazing. The test the flavor the texture it all just perfect. They are so nice and kind hearted. I work just down the street from them and I always stop every so often to get something to eat. I normally just pick something random off the menu as it's all good to eat.

Delicious food. Very very crunchy amazing onion rings. We got two different hot dogs, onion rings, and chili cheese fries and everything was perfect.

Lonnie's is a great little gem in Louisville. Its no frills atmosphere is exactly what one would expect of a hot dog joint. Lonnie is always playing a great soundtrack of blues, Motown, or funk music while he's cooking. The food is delicious. Authentic Chicago dogs and Italian beef. I have heard from others that their hamburgers are good too. If you want some comfort food or hanker for a Chicago dog, Lonnie's is the place.

I love it old school diner vibes great hot dogs and ran by a sweet couple cash is king here but they do take card its worth it so worth it friendly to all ages and on of the best places to get hotdogs especially Chicago style hotdogs don't let the location fool you this is definitely a hidden gem of your a foodie or someone who loves hot dogs come on down
