Shelby Cafe

This is one of the best burgers I've ever had. Every visit to Shelby Cafe leaves me satisfied. The wait between ordering and getting your food is a little long, but that's a small price for actual home-cooked food. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Delicious food every time we go here. I love their pancakes with peaches - so delicious! My husband enjoys their ham & cheese omelet and grits. Breakfast and lunch are very good. As with most places, they prefer cash for payment but do accept credit cards (with an added fee). There is an ATM inside if you need it.

Down home country cooking establishment in historical downtown area. I got the Thursday special which was meatloaf, along with a side of mash potatoes and baked mac & cheese. The side of cornbread was okay, seems that they subscribe to the dry cornbread philosophy whereas I am more inclined to the moist side. Cornbread consistency is subjective along with being a culinary art that I appreciate.

Delicious food and excellent service. My waitress was perfect.

We come here often to eat, my only complaint has beena few things have been forgotten, like toast, tea/soda, but all in all a great place... I love the breakfast and am a regular as much as possible

If you want a cozy down home cafe this is it the food was delicious with big portions and the staff were so friendly

This is the second time visiting here this time was breakfast. Good service, waitress was friendly. Food was good and plentiful. I really enjoyed this establishment down home country food. Well Done, would recommend trying here.

Food was amazing!, service was the best I have found anywhere, the atmosphere is a little dark, the black walls and ceiling make it a little uncomfortable, but by far the most amazing home cooked meals around, 5stars all the way!

You can never go wrong with the Mayor’s Special or the chicken pie!

The Shelby Café is a fabulous spot to get breakfast, lunch or dinner. It has been open for over 100 years. Apparently there is a customer that’s been going there 38 years. This is the diner that you see on TV that everybody knows each other, we immediately felt comfortable. We could not make up our mind what to order on the menu. The dinner salad actually was very good with many things on it and it was not iceberg lettuce. I had a reuben sandwich that I would grade as a 3.8. It was good. It was very good but it was not excellent because there wasn’t a lot of meat on it although the flavor was fabulous. Everything in that restaurant that I saw going to tables and what my friend had was a five in a diner setting.

What a gem to find Shelby Café! It’s over 100 years old, and when you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. My server was a sweetheart, the food was delicious, and I will definitely be coming back.

First time visit. Neat 100 year old diner. She had a ham and cheese omelet and I had the Garbage platter. Everything great and our server Doreen was awesome.

Such a fun and friendly place! Old-school Decour and service standards! We had a few special request, and they bent over backwards to accommodate them! The food was delicious and we would definitely return here

A great, GREAT cafe in Shelby! The food is fantastic and the staff is amazing! It's a happy, feel-good, nostalgic nook in historic Shelby. Our waitress Monica is our favorite and if you enjoy a good omelette, try the "Garbage Omelette!"

Food was great and the service excellent. I like the fact that you get a discount for paying cash. Also this restaurant has a great atmosphere and the wait staff are always very friendly and helpful. To sum it up this is a great place to dine.
