This shop is just fine. I went the same day as other reviewers. Having been to countless fish shops and knowing dozens of people that make a living off of the aquarium industry this place is just fine! It’s not all about shiny floors. This shop has obviously been here a while. They wouldn’t be in business if they weren’t doing something right. All livestock was healthy and fairly priced. I see no issues here. It’s a pet store, only a handful of the creatures you see there live there permanently. The enclosures are well kept, lit, and filtered. One of the best fish shops I have been to. I have an appreciation for the old-school vibe. Don’t be fooled by uneducated people, if you know anything about pet stores this place feels great.

Very friendly and helpful staff. My daughter has a new favorite pet crested gecko. They set us up with everything we needed to get started. Thankyou for all the help and beautiful new pet.

Best pet store in wnc! The fish live when you bring them home.... also aquarium plants are great. Prices are good and the staff knows their stuff.... don't waste you time going anywhere else. I've kept fish for 40 years.

All these negative reviews about how this place is run..... you guys dont know the owner he spends time with every animal after hours , ive watched him take in injured birds reptiles fish etc and nurse / raise them to release , ive never seen a baby robin get mad at a human for not feeding it as if it was its mother until i met these guys. I mean it literaly was not old enough to fly. I cant think of anyone more qualified to care for animals and yeah he walks around barefoot... its his shop its a local store , the gentleman is a wild guy at heart who loves animals and he has saved more than i can count , always knows how to fix a problem and can get you anything even parts and things you cant find anywhere else. The enclosures are small as are almost all pet stores but aquatic fish have always been healthier from this place than comercial stores and the prices are better. Can you buy an electric catfish at petsmart ? No..... can you buy 500 minnow for 50$ at petsmart ? Nope costs 69.98 plus tax for 200...... and then they have parasites ...... seriously wish people would stop bashing this place about things they dont understand or know anything about.

I am so thankful for y'all! I rescued my super sweet Bearded Dragon, Bashe. They saved here life! For the most reasonable price you can find in Asheville. Thank you all for always being amazing!

I've been here a few times over the past 10 year's (have had a tank with fresh water fish over the course of 15 years off and back again), great prices and better choices, healthier fish, and much cheaper products than most pet stores! More choices than pet stores as far as fish go. I'm a Monster Fish Owner and they have a better option to choose from if you want big fish in your tank! Also, if you own reptiles, their reptilian necessities are super cheap! Friendly and helpful workers, I give all 5 stars for sure!

Wow! This has the best selection of exotic pets that I have ever seen. The staff was super friendly and truly cared about the animals living spaces. My only regret was that I didn't find this place sooner. Hopefully I will get to be a breeder for them one day, it means a lot to a breeder to know his animals are cared for so compassionately. Kudos!

Excellent place. All the bad reviews are just from people who don't want to learn more about the place. The caiman in the tank was rescued from becoming a handbag, and is very well cared for. The store may look a little dingy but the owner has also been away for awhile.

The owner is an amazing man who I could talk to all day, his passion for animals is very real, as is the experience he has. He is incredibly knowledgeable and a genuine man. This is also the only place that sells live feeder rats for snakes, which is a godsend considering my snake refuses frozen.

Check out the place for yourself before judging it. It's an older store, so it's not gonna look like every other store. It's a local business too, which means you should support it even more.

Staff members are extremely educated in their field. Staff is honest and very helpful. Owner even told us about a 'Pet 101' class he has done in the past and will hope to do again in the future that will help pet owners with everything they need to know when they take their new family member home (including reptiles, arachnids, fish, birds, hamsters and exotic pets offered in store.) 10/10 would reccomend this store for pet needs!

We love this place for our aquarium needs and wants. Very cool place and they have the oddball stuff you can’t find at chains. We have some cichlids from here which are doing great! We also bought two orange dwarf lobsters who are doing great and are so fun to watch. Even though we go here for aquarium related stuff they have a big variety of other “pets” as well. The guys who I’ve seen working here are knowledgeable and very down to earth. It’s worth a visit for sure.

This is the place to go for exotic animals and their needs. Plus it's like going to a zoo with the interesting creatures they have. It's kinda a hole-in-the-wall type of place.. like an underground hogwarts for finding your spirit creature. Also, If you are a salt water hobbyist they have some cool stuff.

Awesome LOCAL STORE! Been here over 20 years. You want to learn about animals? Ask! I see ignorant comments-bird's no feathers. Duh hand feeding! If you don't know something ask! They are very knowledgeable! No it's not shiny & new, but it's unique. And healthier animals than big box stores!! Be greatful you still have this place! Best hidden secret in Arden! 100% people are so quick to be negative & judge what they are ignorant to. Shame really

Helpful but not overbearing staff, good selection of healthy looking fish, especially big, strange looking fish. They have some pre-owned aquariums and supplies and I liked that, they of course have new stuff to. I didn't look at the other pets in the store but the bulk of their products are aquarium related. They had a limited selection of aquatic plants but I did find a couple of plants that I didn't already have and they are doing great. The place isn't fancy but that doesn't bother me at all. The tanks are healthy and the prices are reasonable. I'll be going back again.

I LOVE going to this place. The gentleman that owns it really knows what he is talking about. The variety of animals is fascinating. He has things you don't see at your chain pet stores.

i just want to say to the people that think they know and understand the exotic pet business. the crock that is in the store in the tank is not in that tank all the time he does go outside on a regular in his own pool and kennel with plenty of room as well. he eats well in his tank and moves around just fine. if you know anything about crocks also you would know they dont move a lot at all in a tank or in the wild. the animals there fish and all are the owners first and most important concern. they are fed and cleaned every day and looked after closely. they have lower price than most of the major chains and get most of the animals from local breeders or the owner breeds them himself. the staff there is very nice and willing to help in any way they can. they the animals very well and dont mind passing on any info possible. i love this store and its staff.
