Brussels Sprouts and Salmon with Pesto

The Brussels sprouts and salmon dish was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. The Brussels sprouts were roasted to perfection, offering a crisp exterior that gave way to a tender, flavorful core. The salmon, cooked to a flaky perfection, was generously drizzled with a vibrant pesto that added a burst of freshness to every bite. A combination that delighted both the palate and the eye.

Mimosa Flight
To round off this gastronomic adventure, I opted for the Mimosa Flight. A trio of mimosas, each featuring a unique blend of fruit juices, added a refreshing and effervescent touch to the meal. The flight included classic orange, tropical pineapple-mango, and zesty grapefruit variations – a delightful accompaniment that elevated the dining experience.

We stopped in for lunch. It was an interesting concept. It looks like a casual, but higher end, restaurant. But they have streamlined it- you walk in and are greeted graciously and helped through the process- you go up to the counter to order, get your own drinks, and get seated. The food is brought out to you and the servers are attentive to your tables needs. The food is Americana. Fresh, Moderna takes on the classics. Quality ingredients. Fresh. Everything is made from scratch, including sauces, dressings, and desserts- and they are at your table in an incredibly short time. I liked the quieter, relaxed, but elegant atmosphere. Family friendly, but great for a work lunch or a date. And great gelato!

Greeted by Kendall you'd think you're at Heavens' gates! Great start for a visit. The ice cream was smooth and sweetened to perfection. Can't wait to try the sample all the cakes we're taking home!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Black Walnut Cafe and I was thoroughly impressed by my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the chicken croissant sandwich. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, while the croissant was flaky and buttery, making for the perfect combination. The sweet potato fries were a delightful side dish that added an extra burst of flavor to the meal.

But what really stood out to me was the exceptional customer service. The manager, Scott, took the time to come to our table and ask how everything was. This small gesture showed me that the staff truly cares about their customers and their dining experience.

Overall, I had a fantastic time at Black Walnut Cafe. The great atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional customer service make this restaurant a must-visit. I highly recommend giving it a try and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Nice environment, food is good with great presentation. There’s a bar so you can actually order drinks if you like to take a sip. A little bit different than usual cafe, you make your order at the cashier and take your food at the counter when it’s ready. So it’s kinda self serve.

The Nashville hot chicken Benedict is awesome but the staff says it’s only available seasonally. We ordered the healthy omelette which is okay; nothing to complain but not as impressive as the omelette. In general, this is a place where I will come back as they have dessert which looks delicious but I didn’t get a chance to try.

If I could complain one thing, it’d be the price. I think it’s a bit pricey compared to other cafes; but Walnut definitely provides a nicer and higher-end atmosphere.

Creamy Tomato Basil - 10! Topped w/Fresh parm, house made croutons and a dollop of pesto magic. The chicken cob salad was also fresh and seasoned to perfection. The Cayenne ranch elevated the flavor of whatever seasoning mix used on the avocado - 10. My husband’s Cod and slaw were an unexpected hit. He wasn’t hopeful about the slaw. The slaw was also fresh, crispy and flavorful. Very nice cozy neighborhood cafe…..puts me in the mind of Cheers - the show. My only critique is tipping. We ordered and paid at the counter. We don’t usually tip counter service but did leave the cashier a couple of bucks. We were given a buzzer and thought we would pick up our food from the counter when ready. A delightful young lady brought our food and basically waited on our table. We couldn’t tip her like she deserved because we didn’t have much cash and paid first. She certainly deserved much more than we left. However, the front door clearly states CASH ONLY. Maybe there could be another system in place so the servers can be tipped.

Feel of an upscale restaurant, but laid back atmosphere. Waitstaff attentive, but never make you feel rushed. Everyone was helpful and friendly! The best pot roast I have ever had in my life, so tender and tasty! Garlic bread was wonderful! Daughter had cheesy lobster pasta and loved every bite! The blackout cake was delicious and large enough for us to share. Adult shake was exceptional, as well! Could not have been a better experience and would definitely go back! Thank you for an enjoyable evening!

I love this place! Driven past for years, finally stopped! The concept is brilliant! Great bar, Alexa being the star! Give her a raise. Very kind young lady. The food was top tier. We will be back!

Food is always amazing! the host is always so sweet and helpful. My waiter Freddie was so nice and accommodating! And the manager checked on us a couple times as well! Always a great service at black walnut. And the mimosa flight was tasty

Had a wonderful Friday Brunch with my Daughter who had just landed from North Carolina to visit.

We both enjoyed the Lobster Benedict and Ruby Red Grapefruit Martinis. Both g chunks of Lobster. Yum!!

We were greeted by Marvin who made our experience even more special and personable. He Made us feel at home and very welcomed.

Definitely plan on going back!! This was the Denton location.

One of the better American dining experiences in Allen. The food itself is far above average for the area.

We liked Black Walnut, had been eating here for a few years now.

Either sitting outside in the fall or enjoyed tall window view inside its air conditioned room on a 105° day liked today. We always received great service and excellent food.

There wasn't a dish we didn't like here. My favorite was Santa Fe Salad. Loved its spicy mango cilantro dressing, the chilled thiny-sliced chicken was juicy and tender every single time.

Husband liked the Turkey Croissant Club, how it's served warm and flaky.

A full bar, beers, cakes and gelato were also available.

Will recommend.

We live off of the sides over here at Black walnut, best green beans I’ve ever had in my life. We will definitely be back! 2nd time here won’t be the last!

It is really hard to find places that accommodate autoimmune diseases and food allergies, and Black Walnut Cafe had an array of gluten-free items that do not include dairy products, so, they are safe for casein allergies as well!

Reilly and Amy at the register checked ingredients for me, and made sure everything was wheat and dairy free! I felt very safe with my food choices.

Our first time here we went for brunch, and it didn’t disappoint. The ambiance was nice. The food was great, I had the Texas Breakfast and my Husband had Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict and they both were GREAT! I also had the Mimosa flight and they all very delicious, but my fav was the Strawberry looking forward to trying other dishes next time we visit. They had a good variety of choices on the menu. I didn’t get a pic of the food bc somehow it magically disappeared before I could get a pic 😩😆🤣

We weren't expecting much. Came in on a whim. We feel like we've found a hidden gem. It was counter service and self serve for a lot of things so we weren't thinking the food would be as good as it was. It was AMAZING 🤩😍!

First off the place was nicely decorated and had a great atmosphere. There was a good looking party room and bar too. I was with my kids so we grabbed a booth.

The gelato looked good but we didn't try any of it. The cakes too looked amazing. I LOVE those soda machines that let you add mixers to your drink so that alone will have me coming back.

I ordered the vindaloo chicken wings as my entree even though it's a starter. CRAZY spicy 🥵🔥! The flavor was so delicious. The chicken was falling apart, see my video. It fell right off the bone and was tender and moist. Not like any chicken wings I've ever had.

My daughter ordered the ultimate bacon cheeseburger. Fluffy toasted brioche bun, artisanal mustard sauce, shredded lettuce, bacon that was crisped PERFECTLY, beef was to die for and cooked exactly right. Fries were fresh and light. Golden crunch with tender center even though they were a shoetring cut that often gets overcooked.

My other daughter ordered chicken and waffles. Chicken was moist and batter was awesome.

We really look forward to coming back. 😊

Great food, service and atmosphere from the beginning. I ordered the big plate but substituted it for French toast which is additional $1 charge but I didn't mind. However once I got the French toast, I didn't care for it. It tasted like a dried toast grilled on a skillet with powdered sugar but was missing the very essence of how French toast actually taste. It was no problem. They switched it with pancakes with no attitude or even the slightest change in their friendliness. Tried the Mimosa Flight and it was very fulfilling. There was a line and the parking sucked but that's to be expected for most establishments. If no handicap tags, drop them off at the door to avoid the walk because you may have to park a little far. Well worth the small walk and wait for friendly people and good food.

Love their brunch!!! Super nice people. Drinks are potent and tasty. Food was AMAZING (fluffiest tiny pancakes ever 😩💙) We came in a few minutes after brunch (maybe 2/3 minutes) and the manager gave the okay to the chefs that we could get brunch even though brunch time was over. Great people and a great atmosphere. I will be returning.
