Visiting Maine every year, we always make it a point to go to Fort Foster: if it's summer, it's all about fishing and swimming; if it's fall, it's time for mushroom and berry picking.
But winter? Don't come here in winter, it can get as low as minus 150 Fahrenheit, lol.

My favorite spot, the best place I've tried lobsters, is Kittery Point

So they charge $20 a car to get in and worth every penny and the hours as of now in May they are open til 730. Very much so worth the money and a visit! Excellent views all the way around, even though the Fort part itself is small for what is left. Still so cool to see and much to explore with the trails and paths there.

Enjoyable visit to Fort Foster. Very mild with Temps in the mid 50's and for this time of year, I thought it was likely busier than normal for New Year's Day. Grounds are very nice and well kept up. Several different areas from rocky shorelines, pebble beaches, sandy beaches as well as remnants of an old fort. Off season, there was no charge for admittance but also no available facilities. Plenty of picnic tables around. Lots of people out with their pets. All in all, a nice place to enjoy the shoreline.

Nice park with a playground, several grills and picnic tables. They have a dock and some rocky shoreline plus excellent views.

We stopped by today to get a flavor of Kittery and it was a great drive to get to the park as well - very scenic.

What a great place! You get to enjoy the beauty of the ocean, the gray sand beach, the pier, the lighthouses, and the trails on the fort. This place has plenty to keep you busy for hours. Although this was an early 20th century fort, the remaining small structures are mostly sealed up with limited access.
The fort has ample parking with plenty of picnic tables and grassy areas to spread a blanket. There are rest rooms near both beach areas.
An entrance fee is required and varies if you are a resident or visitor, but the fee is worth it!

Beautiful scenic park that is a dog haven. There are benches, picnic tables, and a playground. My pup, Gemma, thoroughly enjoyed the stop here on the way to Ogunquit.

Fort Foster is maintained and run by the town of Kittery. If you want to avoid the $20 per vehicle fee, bring your walking shoes for a much more reasonable per person rate if you don't have a lot of people in your party. There are bathroom facilities, water, pavilions, old fortifications to look at, a very long pier, picnic tables, playground, sandy beaches and rocky coast too. I have always enjoyed the amazing views of the Portsmouth harbor, it's lighthouses and the beautiful ocean.
If you enjoy fishing, scuba diving, swimming, etc. you can find it here. It's well worth a visit and I keep going back with my kids and we never get tired of it.

Beautiful place where you can picnic on the beach or at the many places on the grass that offers grills and shady spots. Follow the gorgeous paths along the seaside. If you're a history buff, discover the forts that are still standing from the late 19th century. There is also a playground for kids. Great place for a large function, too. Just beautiful!

Great spot for walking and beach. If you want to get into the water is great except for low tide!

Absolutely beautiful place to go. Weather your having a picnic or just seeing the sites. Beautiful dock that stretches way out into the water. Very well kept always clean and tidy.

I can't believe we have been coming to the area for decades and never knew this dog friendly park was in existence. Had to pay 20 dollars for a day pass before entering but will definately get a season pass next year.

A great state park for stunning sunrise and sunsets, picnics, birdwatching , fishing and exploring. We came here to saltwater flyfish for stripers with our friends, and found the water crystal clear. Great views of the coastline and lighthouse, it is a great place to explore and relax, and escape the heat on a humid summer day. Bring waders if you fly fish as it makes it far more comfortable in the cold Maine waters.

Beautiful park by the water with an old fort and views of Whaleback Light. Also has a beautiful boardwalk but sadly you can’t walk on it.
Perfect spot for lunch/dinner, just relaxing by the water, and of course, photography.

Any place where I can bring my dog & kids is a win!
Beautiful beach, they have a water spigot in the picnic area for rinsing and a drink for your dog with a bowl. Great boardwalk for fishing with gorgeous views. Beautiful beach with rocky outcrops for tide-pooling. Some areas of the beach are quite rocky so make sure kids or “friends” with sensitive feet wear footwear accordingly. My kids found hermit crabs and other cool ocean creatures and my fur-baby ran and met some friends of her own.
Past the small jetty area and I was told (and viewed others) had their dogs off leash in those areas.
There are fees I know it’s $20 a car and $5 for walk-ins and I believe kids are $1. Well worth it! Tired kids and pup is a day well-spent!!

My go to place of relaxation and the views are spectacular. I go with my dog which is awesome that they can enjoy it as well. I do pick up after my dog and have never really seen too many people that don't which is good.

Very cool place to visit! Make sure you get your reservation online before you get there! Lots of rocks to climb on. During low tide, plenty of crabs to catch. The fort is awesone to climb on too.

Easy drive from Boston to get to this beautiful spot. Our dogs enjoyed the walk. There are a bunch of old military structures, including the pilons for the submarine nets and a watch post. You can't get inside the military structures but you can walk on one.
