Excellent food and drink, with great service. We came on a monday at 2:30, it was happy hour! Yay 6$ drinks, and 15% off apps. Painkiller and a sangria, both were excellent. For mains we got the salmon club wrap & Guava braised short rib poutine. Wow, both were so good! The fries (upcharge with the wrap) are so crispy yet soft on the inside, the salmon was fresh and the char on the wrap was perfect. The poutine was so good! Yum. Highly recommend!

Recently got takeout from Blue Mermaid, and it was great! Thank you for the sauce recommendation - the ghost pepper flavor this month is wonderfully spicy yet balanced.

Had a great lunch here on a Friday, good food and friendly staff. There is outdoor seating if the weather is good.

My girlfriends and I went for brunch at the Blue Mermaid and we had a BLAST!! Two words: Mimosa flight - drop the mic. Jodi and I ordered two different flights, mango, blueberry-lemonade, blood-orange & watermelon 😋. Jodi swapped her mango for traditional orange juice. Laurie ordered a Bloody Mary. The brunch menu has several options. I chose the salmon eggs Benedict which was served on their homemade (read AHMAZING) buttery biscuits. (I ended up taking some home lol). Jodi had the breakfast burrito with homemade potato chips (delicious). Laurie ordered the eggs frijoles which had a black bean "bun" as the base. All three of us enjoyed our meals and thought they were delicious. Would highly recommend this place as a casual dine-in spot for brunch or dinner if you're in the area.

Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly and tasted great. We definitely need to go here more often. In addition to great food and great service, it's nice not to have to deal with the downtown Portsmouth weekend congestion. This is becoming one of our regulars.

Fantastic food, great service, and wonderful members of the community!! Love that they have great vegan options. Delicious French fries. Monday night trivia is always a blast. My favorite is the fried sesame tofu, but I’ve wondered the vegan options as well as some vegan mods and loved it all!! Thanks for all the great meals Blue Mermaid.

This was my first time after they moved from Portsmouth. Very neat, spacious space with high chairs and tables. Trendy restaurant feeling. Tasty finger food a very smooth beer(get the "Lunch"). Some nights are featured live bands, other nights open microfon.

Had a great time tonight which included amazing cocktails(Spicy Margherita), dinner(Nam Jam Haddock) and dessert(chocolate flourless cake)!!
I need to eat gluten free and there were many options. Service was great, they didn’t rush us and we enjoyed a three hour dinner, where we could relax in an open atmosphere.

Really enjoyed our experience. Appetizers were great along with the charcuterie board 🙌🏻

Totally great Brunch and Live Music place. Food was great. The menu was full of pleasant surprises. I'm a huge hot dog fan and when I saw the Bahn MI Dog, I had to have it. Really good. Prices are totally reasonable and the service was very nice. I'm totally coming back soon.

Everything was excellent! We tried to go to a different restaurant, but couldn't get in . After not going to the Blue mermaid for many years we decide to give it a try. We're very happy we did. We'll definitely be back soon.

Blue Mermaid is a local favorite! All of their food is delicious- the hardest choice is deciding what to order. Their drink menu is also fantastic. In addition to beer and wine, their mocktails are great! The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.

Still finishing out my meal here, but I NEEDED to write this!! I live in Scarborough so this place is a bit out of reach a lot of the time, but I came here for the first time. As a cook, I expect a good deal of craftsmanship and “love” when I am choosing a place to dine out. This place, is nothing short of amazing. I’ve cold beer on tap, (one of the best lists I’ve seen in southern maine!) and, my meal. If I could regurgitate it whole, and eat it all over again, I’d have done it yesterday. The short rib steak and cheese is by far the best sandwich I have ever had, and to be perfectly honest, the price tag, is meek compared to the sheer explosion in quality. Absolutely tender, melted in my mouth. The carmelized onions gave it a touch of sweet that just sent it into outer space. If you’re a beef lover, and love short rib, this is an absolute must have. Just go and get it already!!! Thank you to the bartenders who were absolutely amazing as well!! I WILL BE BACK.

Creative Caribbean cooking meets the new England Seacoast.
Sunday brunch special with cheap Mimosa and Bloody Mary. Varied and delicious plays on Caribbean eats. They have outdoor seating and their location is a hidden but easy to get with gated parking. They offer some delicious regular menu items but amazing specials, usually with locally caught seafood.

We had a fabulous late lunch on Friday. The Baja Reuben was out of this world, with excellent fries. The chicken lettuce wraps exceeded our expectations, they were s o good! We each began with the Lobster and corn chowder. What a great meal, with wonderful service. This is an excellent restaurant.

Awesome spot not far from down town Portsmouth. I had the short rib and was blown away with the flavor and how easily it fell apart. Plenty of parking and there is a really nice brewery next door if that is your thing.

Always good! Been going here my whole life (since it was in downtown Portsmouth!) The owners are friendly and helpful. We just had an amazing dinner and Lelia (sp?) hooked up the heaters for us outside with a huge smile. She was a great waitress and had about a million tables! Can't wait to make this our new date night spot!!

A great place for a late lunch! We stopped in on 6/17/23. Try the shrimp tacos and the lemonades! Great beer selection too!
