Great bookstore that we patronize every time we’re in Cold Spring. They pack an excellent selection into a relatively small (but not tiny) space, the staff are friendly, they have a large and diverse children’s section, and there’s a cool cat who is usually around. What more could you ask for in a bookstore?

My new fav bookstore! As someone with a chronic illness and immunocompromised friends, I really appreciate that they still require masks at this store! Thanks for helping keep your community safe! They have a great selection of romcoms, fantasy books, YA books, and more! Also there’s a bookstore cat!! I love him. Definitely worth checking out if you are a booklover.

This little bookstore is so darling! They had a great selection of titles, to include recently released books. The cashier was very knowledgeable and helpful. There were staff book recommendations, which were great. The store was very clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. I will definitely visit again!

Cozy little bookstore in the heart of Cold Spring. Created and run by the incredible Georgie. He created a very human-friendly atmosphere and even employs some store humans.

Neat independent bookstore that we found on a damp day. I’m a little biased as a customer was reading Danny and the Dinosaur to several children when we went in. It was my first book as a child and I read it to my own children. The store cat was quite sweet and the folks behind the counter friendly. It may not be large in size but it is huge in atmosphere.

Ava is fantastic and incredibly witty. I could sit and listen to her quips all day. Also - best selection around.

My husband and I always check out independent bookstores and we travel with our German Shepherd. Split Rock bookstore in Cold Springs unexpectedly let us combine both our lovrs when they invited our dog inside. Great bookstores, very friendly staff. Even found the perfect book to complete the memory, Bear and Wolf by Daniel Salmieri

The small town perfect bookstore! Every time I visit Cold Spring this is one of my first stops. The books are so thoughtfully curated and the children’s section is amazing for any age ready. The staff were so helpful and so kind. Definitely a place to stop if you’re in the area!

Loved the book store! They have a broad selection. While visiting cold springs for a long weekend me and my wife got a couple of books from here . The book collection was very aesthetically organized and they have a great collection of illustrated kids books as well :) Would definitely come back here the next time I visit cold springs!

My absolute favorite local bookshop in the Hudson Valley. Cold Spring is a second home to me from Garrison with it's welcoming shops, sustainability focus, and various food choices. Split Rock Books is a-must to check out whether you're a local or visiting the area. The staff is very kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable of their stock and floor. The store is a warm environment with a lovely shop cat named Fred, and is very clean, organized, and a great place for gifts, personal buys, and/or to browse your next read. I love small independent bookstores. This place is located in a small New York town in the Hudson Valley amongst coffee shops and restaurants. Now that we are approaching post pandemic times supporting these places is all the more important. A great selection of books and excellent service. Bought from the store online as well and they fulfill orders timely and take great care with your order.

My favorite bookstore of all-time! This is such a cozy bookstore with so much charm. It’s well organized and has a nice selection of books. SRB is a must see when visiting the amazing town of Cold Spring. This book store is part of the heart and soul of the town.

This place is a wonderful little bookstore in a great location. A great selection in my opinion, as well as one of my new favorite bookstores in the area. Bonus points for being one of the few bookstores I've visited with a good selection of Yukio Mishima books. This is also a great place to bring young kids, the whole back section of the store is devoted to kids books. Overall, highly recommend this place to any book-lovers passing through Cold Spring!

Very interesting selection of books. I read a lot and in most bookstores don't find anything that intrigues me. But I found several books here that I didn't know about and ended up buying.
The owners are super-helpful and knowledgeable about books, including graphic novels. If you want a book that they don't have, they will order it for you.
The area is easy to get to from NYC, only 1 hour away on the train, in a cute little town with other nice shops and great walks and views along the Hudson River.
