Barnstormer Barbeque

Google never fails when it comes to finding food close by. I drove up from NYC to Bear mountain and perkins drive in my old car just for the drive. Spent quite some time at perkins drive and decided to grab something before heading down to NYC. I was torn between going to a deli down the block and grabbing a sandwich or having a full course meal. My stomach decided to go for the full course meal came in and waited to be sat down, but the waiter prompted me to pick any table which I did, and I quickly learned that this place is very relaxed which I love. the decor is a little drab, but then again, you don’t go to the restaurant to admire How they look inside. The menu is provided via a QR code which you scan and you pop it up on your phones browser. Some older folks might have an issue with this but I’m perfectly fine with that and I’m an older folk 😄. I ordered a half chicken and half rib combination with a side of chili and french fries.

Let me tell you that this meal not only filled me up I think I don’t have to eat tomorrow on Sunday. This is a very large portion. I am not complaining one bit but next time I’m gonna have to take it down one notch.

Not for the fun part, the ribs and the chicken were superbly smoked. I honestly never had chicken this good as it normally found in a rotisserie fashion in New York City. The ribs themselves fell off the bone so tenderly. If you’re ever in the area you must visit this place the exterior is pretty cool as it has some older license plates on the side of the restaurant. The waist hustled back-and-forth between all the tables, and I cannot complain that they did not serve me well, the bus boy kept giving me freshwater, and he was very intensive hats off to him, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Popped in here on our first night in town. The food was even better than we expected. Huge portions, and it came out quickly. The collard greens were some of the best I've had so far. Loved the blues music that was lightly playing while we visited. The ribs and the pulled pork were great, super tender and juicy!

The best BBQ on NY. Love this place have been going there for over 16 years now. They have the best wings I've ever had in my life I even dream about them sometimes. They have more than just BBQ options. Make sure you go check them out if you like good food.

After a wonderful hike on Bear Mountain, we got really hungry. Thankfully this place was right down the road and open for business. The staff was super kind and friendly. The menu options were what you’d expect at a BBQ restaurant and the flavors did not disappoint! The baked beans were spot on, which is where I like to start to know if a restaurant cares about what they’re serving; and they clearly do! Everything on our plate tasted amazing, especially after a hike. I’d recommend the pulled pork and that sauce as my most memorable (for me) but the entire plate was delicious. If you’re eating with someone this can easily be shared for two with leftovers. You won’t be underserved like some restaurants in the city (a joyful mistake we made by ordering separate 😅 gave us plenty.) The French onion soup is great too! Someone recommended we dip our fries in it and that was a game changer! Definitely has a homey vibe with people who care about food and good service. So if you’re hungry after Bear Mountain and reading what’s around to eat; this is your spot! You won’t be disappointed and you wont break your wallet. Also they have a sign that says “no reservations!” If that matters in your meal planning

The wait was a long time.. at least 30-40mins for the people that were the only ones there. But the food was definitely delicious.

the food is as you expect, delicious barbecue, brisket, ribs, pull pork, sausage. We ordered the varied plate and two size. The service is super efficient and they serve you quickly. you can go if you're into bear mountain or ride a few miles from harrisman park.

Great place to have your BBQ desires met. My wife and I order the ribs and pulled pork every time we're there. The service and food are excellent. The cornbread is Amazing! Love the BBQ sauce, I drizzle it on everything.

For starters, I found this place because the bear mountain inn and lodge told me to go. Said it was a must and she orders from there weekly. Now I took a chance on the smoked wings because I’m not fond of them but why not. Couldn’t be happier with that choice. Very good and super crispy just like I asked. Then I got the two meat platter and the entire meal was incredible. Highly recommended if you’re in the area. Bartender was an awesome dude as well. Wish I knew his name so I could give him a shout out.

Wonderful customer service. We came in with our cranky two year old and they were still very friendly. Portions were big, and not too salty (which is a common complaint for me at BBQ places). My husband and I shared the pig out platter and could not finish it. The chicken tenders kids meal was also very good.

We stopped to fill up the gas tank and decided to give Barnstormer a chance, since it was getting late,after a long day in Woodbury commons and Bear Mountain.

What an experience! Wonderful service, perfect vibe and delicious platters. We had half of nachos and a bbq combo for 2... Way too much food indeed, but got go enjoy it the next day, since we brought time leftovers back home in a box.

One of the best bbq spot around bear mountain area. I've been coming here since 2016. Ribs are my favorites along with pulled pork sandwich. Their bbq sauce is awesome as well.

Great BBQ. Never had a side I didn't like. Brisket was pull apart tender and delicious. Great menu selection, check it out if you're in the area.

Fantastic bbq and food, with the kindest most gracious people. The best restaurant in the area, so don’t waste your money on others around here. There’s only one place worth sitting down for here, and it’s this legendary joint! Great beer selection as well.

This place is legit. The barbecue is so good here. Also the staff and service is very good, as are the prices. The wings are smoky and the bbq combo is both large and delicious. A great place to go and have a good meal in the area.

It’s a very comfortable dinner, friendly staffs and big dining space, where you can get delicious BBQ!
I got 4 ribs. The ribs smell so good and their bbq sauce is perfect which isn’t too greasy or salty. Also, the corn bread tastes better than other bbq place!

First time here and was pleasantly greeted before being seated and before we left. We shared the 3 meat meal with an extra side. Everything was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend stopping in for a hefty plate full.

Might very well be the best Barbecue on the planet-outside of Texas :) Patrick is always thoughtful and prompt in service. Great place to go!!

It did my southern heart good to eat here. Good comfort food with tastes from home. The chili is absolutely great. Had a party of five and everyone really enjoyed their food. The bar was really cool too. Overall, a great experience and really legitimate, tasty BBQ.
