Adjacent to West Point Academy, The Thayer handled our family (of 30 people) as we gathered to inter our mother and father at the military cemetery. Both the Tavern and our informal dinner and our planned lunch for 34 were fabulous. The rooms were spacious and well appointed

Tim is a terrific addition to the hotel management. He was very welcoming to my mother and me on Easter. The brunch was fantastic with service to match. We’ll be back!

We went to the Thayer hotel for Sunday brunch and could not have had a better experience. The food was absolutely Perfection and Sandy was the best server we could ask for. Will definitely be returning for the food and to have Sandy's company for our next Sunday brunch.

Large group in the mood for a good meal and the Thayer delivered. Most of us ate off the menu and enjoyed the short rib and the pork chop. Don’t miss the fancy tater tots. Andrea did a great job handling the large group and we had very good service.

The hotel is beautiful. I like the way this hotel was built. At least in the room that I stayed in was great. Just the wall decorations were kind of old. Every certain hours you can hear the train passing through.

The hallway to the room is covered with past West Point Graduates! Thought that was a very special touch. The beds are super comfy and the feel of the hotel is historic!

This is the third time my wife and I have celebrated New Year's Eve at Thayer Hotel. We highly recommend the package which includes great food, music, service, overnight accomodations, and breakfast.

Had an amazing getaway from a busy city life. Everything was top quality. The location is breathtaking, make sure to book a high floor overlooking the river if possible. The staff is very friendly, the food was delicious, rooms and hallways are very clean, which is super important to me. In the room the bed is comfy and shower with good water pressure.
The grounds of the hotel have exquisite nature views. The town is quite, cozy, almost like from a different time. Tip: search the internet to see if you can find a last minute deal, it can save you a lot of money on your stay.
Overall a beautiful experience at a beautiful historic hotel. Highly recommend!

I visited West Point and this property for the first time this summer. The lunch was an unexpected surprise...a plentiful, tasty Cobb salad and such a historical setting. The vistas of the majestic Hudson Valley hills are stunning. The front desk personnel were incredibly helpful and informative.

I stayed here for just 1 night with my family, the people were very nice and the dinner and breakfast were delicious. The rooms were beautifully decorated and had a lovely view of the Hudson River. The only minor issue was the train honking in the middle of the night, but it wasn't big of a problem. Overall, I definitely recommend staying here!

Beautiful hotel facing the Jonson River in upstate New York, highly recommended. To get there you have to drive through very beautiful places. In the hotel there was good service, very good attention and food, very nice views and walks, inside the hotel it is a very nice classic style, it is also suitable for children and they accept puppies too

Staying at the Thayer is an excursion to the past and a tribute to US army grand times. I recommend staying at Thayer for this unique experience. My room was spacious and cozy, beautiful oil canvas paintings of Hudson River scenes on the walls, bathroom had its character, a lot of natural light and with windows open I fell asleep listening to the sounds of Hudson River wilderness. Breakfast was delicious and everyone at the restaurant was very nice and welcoming. Dinner - restaurant isn’t anything extraordinary if you are a world traveling foodie yet it is a very high level for a small town and the views from the restaurant terrace observing the full moon are breathtaking. Every dish was delicious and fairly priced. No wine list, just an option of Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc etc.

Every employee I had to interact with has been extremely friendly, open and smiling a lot. Yet receptionists have a little bit of attitude (I wonder why =D) But this only issue wouldn’t affect my rating.

Also an Important note - often times book via HotelTonight in which case you can potentially end up with whatever room is available at the moment. Yet Thayer was not more than 30% occupied so that would be a nice gesture to provide a room with a better view, feels weird to stay in a room facing a wall while there are plenty other rooms available.

Overall I’d be back for sure.

A must stay at least once through your Cadet’s USMA 47 month journey. Clean, nice rooms. Older building, so don’t expect new amenities on site. Stay of the convenience and the history.

Make sure to enjoy the Zulu lounge terrace overlooking the Hudson. Perfect way to pass an evening after events of the day on campus.

Sunday brunch is wonderful. Evening dinners indoor or on terrace. Fabulous food. A must when in town.

The Thayer offers a brunch which is phenomenal. You can eat as much as you want for a set price. The views are breathtaking. The service is excellent. You will love the atmosphere and your taste buds and tummy will thank you. The cost is not going to break the bank/another reason to go to the Thayer.

We absolutely loved the beauty and history of The Thayer Hotel. To see and read about this historic building and grounds is amazing. Beautiful fireplace in the lobby. Old world charm made me feel like I was in Europe. We met several of the staff and everyone was very personable. Kudos to a beautiful hotel. We look forward to our stay again. Thank you to the staff for our stay during the holidays.

The Thayer is a historical treasure chest so if you're a history buff you will love it. It's also a beautiful hotel with outstanding food. The rooms are small by the standards of some more recently built hotels but they are beautifully appointed and comfortable. The grounds are lovely to explore.
