Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina

We visit every year. The past couple of years service was not so good. The bar and restaurant felt like click click click. This visit it was absolutely wonderful everybody was such a good mood so friendly so accommodating. We got a Marine View by the adult pool and have a wonderful time. We decided not to rent a car and took a Lyft and saved the $300 for rental car and parking at the hotel. $25 a night to park at the hotel and free to park across the street but what's the point. Enjoy

We recently stayed here for 4 nights and it was lovely. It's a very quiet area with gorgeous views of ocean on each side. The two outdoor pools and hot tubs overlook a marina area and there are lots of amenities around the area. It's not the fanciest hotel and some areas are a tiny bit dated, but the location and charm made it quite enjoyable. The hotel is clean, there is a decent fitness room and restaurant, and the staff are just so friendly and helpful. It was nice to start and end the day with a walk along the beautiful waterfront and seeing the naval and cruise ships go by.

Since Shelter Island is a man made spit and is tucked away from the main part of San Diego, I think if you are touristing from another area, it would be beneficial to have a rental vehicle so that you can easily access other areas if you are planning to go out and explore. That being said, there are also many fun restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops within walking distance on the island if you planned on staying in the local area.

Great stay for our tennis team this past weekend! Everyone there is extremely friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, the lobby was decorated with huge Halloween decorations, the hot tub/pool area and Blue Wave restaurant were all fantastic too! Maintenance always came quickly to open the tennis court gates and the courts had a super view too! There were 32 of us in our group and we all agreed it was a super hotel and great value! Highly recommend this hotel!

Great location with beautiful views on both sides. We had a marina view and it felt like our own a private retreat. The staff was very friendly and service oriented. Loved the bartender. We definitely plan to go back to this hotel.

We stay here every year and we love it. Such a beautiful property and it's also a great location. And a huge bonus is the great service from the front desk,highlighted by the work of Danny. Danny is a major asset for this hotel.

Excellent hotel, booked two rooms for December 1-2. Rooms 155 and 114. The rooms are clean and bright. The bed linen is amazing, the towels are snow-white. The overall view is amazing overlooking the ocean. The hotel has a bar and restaurant. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The parking lot is large. I recommend it.

Nothing but positive things to say about my stay here. Service,Our Room, and the Views, all were amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants an amazing experience. My wife absolutely loved the heated floors in the bathroom and kitchen

This hotel was lovely. I did have a suite room with 2 queen beds. There was plenty of room, and the balcony patio was lovely. The rooms were always cleaned and stocked, and they even had the availability to let us check in just a bit early, as our 8 year old was fussy from a long morning of travel. The pool at the main building is very nice, and the hot tub was great too.

My family was impressed with the Bay View room. It had such beautiful scenery. Rooms were nice and clean, and front desk personnel were awesome. The only issue I had was trying to find the entrance to the hotel. But overall, my family loved this place. We will definitely be back.

This hotel was truly amazing for the price you pay. Our room had a beautiful room overlooking the marina in the beginning of August for just over $200 a night. The room was larger (almost suite sized) came with a microwave and refrigerator and the layout of the room worked well. My wife mentioned it was the first hotel she had walked into and wasn't immediately in the tiny alcove but walked into the larger room. The bed was mostly comfortable but like I mentioned the view was incredible. The second night in San Diego we had received a comp night at the resort next door to this hotel. I was not impressed at this $450+ a night resort and actually slept way better at this Best Western! Saved it to our maps to remind us to stay here next time we visit!

Had a small patio to set & enjoy the views & sunrises!! Comfortable beds. Marina on one side. Ocean on the other. Located right across the street from the beach@@

Very beautiful views on either side of the hotel. So elegant was not expecting the service or luxury I experienced from a best western. Great job.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views. Very friendly and professional staff. Stayed with a child in mid June 2023 and we had amazing time. Very beautiful views and pretty good pools. The pools have salt water though. Request room away from the main lobby as we ended up staying in Casa Marina and it was very peaceful. Will stay again! Thank you!

Good hotel in a great location. Nice views from the marina side rooms. Lots of great restaurants close by.

The customer service was great. The double queen suite overlooking the marina was perfect for my family. Large room , nice views, and close to the pool. The rooms are a little dated, but I expected that before booking. I enjoyed breakfast and the bar at the Blue Wave Bar & Grill. I would stay here again with my family.

Great location, great hotel. Beautiful views. Moat rooms seem to have a bay and marina view. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. The room was very clean and comfortable. There is a beach right across the street. My beautiful and amazing wife and I wanted a quick get away to see the ocean and relax a bit. This was the perfect location. We have been to San Diego area many times, this area was the most relaxing with super friendly locals. We will return.

What a great place to stay, not your typical Best Western. Absolutely gorgeous surroundings with impeccable service and very clean.

I don't really like to give five stars. But they deserve it. Service was amazing, above & beyond. I had a flat tire on my car and I couldn't believe it, they had a pump on the golf cart and fixed my tire. The employees were great, they did a lot of little things that really made the stay. The location was great for the fireworks show. We've also been down there with our boat. The launch is across the street.

Beautiful location and great staff. We have one of the rooms with a private patio which was perfect for our needs. Hotel is a little older but very comfortable. Would stay here again.
