Local typical is about the only thing humble here. This place was terrific. The service was very attentive, the selection was very good and diverse and the good was terrific. The smoke chicken fry was hands down one of the best with the firm buttery mashed potatoes. The Hamilton Burger was an absolute hit! I cannot wait to come back for dessert! Bring your appetite!

Visited on a Friday evening for dinner. We chose to sit on the patio, which is lovely, but the city is working on the road so the view leaves a lot to be desired. Not necessarily the restaurant's fault but just a forewarning mid-2024.
Food and service were fantastic. Spencer was attentive, friendly, and recommended the other Local Yocal venues in town which we're likely to check out based on our experience.
Definitely coming back soon to try a few other dishes on the menu that looked appetizing.

This was our first time eating here and everything from the appetizer to drinks to dinner to dessert was amazing! It had great ambience and our server, Maryssa, was excellent! She was very attentive with keeping our water glasses filled and clearing dishes quickly. We will definitely be back!

Amazing local place! The steak was juicy and quite delicious! Recommend the goat cheese risotto and the mushrooms as a side. The burger was quite tasty too, but a bit heavy with sausage, bacon and the patty. Try their apple cranberry dessert and the cocktails! Thank you to Marissa who took great care of us and additional members of the team who stopped by the check-in throughout our meal.

Don't let the name and the BBQ menu fool you. This is not a typical Texas BBQ joint. This is fine dining with a Texas/Oklahoma twist. Great meat cuts, eccentric drinks, and fantastic service. You won't be disappointed.

We came out for brunch and it was our first time at the Local Yocal BBQ restaurant. I've been wanting to come here for their dinners but haven't had the chance yet.

The restaurant has their own parking lot. The place is down Louisiana just past McDonald Street. You could choose to park in proper McK dntn if you want to take a stroll after your meal and browse around the shops before you leave the area. There are boutiques, wineries, ice cream shops, a pie shop and lots of other great stops if that interests you.

The Local Yocal restaurant is spacious and very clean. It has nice spacious seating. Our server was great and brunch was delicious and very filling. I hope to come back for a dinner some time.

If you haven't stopped by their butcher shop, check them out. They have fantastic cuts of meat and other great items in their shop. If you follow their socials you'll see specials occasionally.

I highly recommend both the restaurant and their shop.

We have dined at Local Yocal quite a few times and they never disappoint. Wonderful customer service by May! She deserves a raise! Delicious food, the best Mac & cheese with brisket and burgers. My husband prefers the Hamilton. So happy we decided to go here for lunch!

This place is the epitome of a hometown gem! We frequently visit here and it's always our top pick when showing out-of-towners a taste of local flavor. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel right at home. Every dish is a delight – truly divine! Don't miss out on asking about the nightly features; they're always worth it. If you're unsure what to order, I highly recommend starting with the BBQ sampler or the salmon dip, and for mains, you can't go wrong with the McKinney cut or whatever market fish they have available!

Fantastic! The food was some of the best I've had. Their food is as locally sourced as they can get, including the butcher shop down the street, and it shows in the quality and flavor of foods.

We shared 'The Pickles and The Pig' starter that included various sausages, cheddar, house pickles, house mustard, and a huge cracker. Every single thing on the board was amazing.

The main course were two Wagyu burgers. One with sausage, brisket, bacon, cheddar, grilled onions and jalapenos, and mayo. The other had lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, cheddar, and their special sauce. Seriously... this was the best burger I've ever had. Bar none.

The food alone would warrant a five star rating but the friendly helpful service, the cocktail selection, and the homey comfortable decor all live up to that level of praise as well. I'll definitely be visiting again and think just about everybody needs to stop by and partake of this gem too.

I loved Local Yocal. It had an amazing atmosphere and a very nice service. I liked the food but I did not like the Risotto. Other than that, it was good. I would recommend it.

Loved the atmosphere! Our waiter Kevin was awesome!! He was very friendly and helpful and came by often to check on us and gave great recommendations for dinner and dessert. We also met the owner! He was also very friendly and wore his signature cowboy hat so it was easy to recognize him! Our steaks were very tender and juicy! Definitely will visit again!

The food is such good quality here. Everything tasted so so good. I really appreciated the effort and quality in each dish our table ordered. I got the brunchiladas (cheese enchiladas with rice, brisket, and fried egg). It was delicious. My favorite was the brisket Mac and cheese. Everything had great flavor and was worth the price. Definitely will be back!

I really enjoyed this place! The Mac & Cheese with brisket is definitely something you need to try. It was the end of a very long day and we couldn't finish it at the restaurant, but I have to say that it was amazing as leftovers for lunch the next day. I wanted to go back and get more immediately.

The vibe of the place was awesome. Their music selection was spot on. The staff was helpful and smiling. I've got zero negative to say about this place. The food was great, albeit a little on the pricey side. If you want to take someone out and you don't feel like cheaping out on them or taking them to some chain place, then this is where you need to take them. This is my new favorite spot in McKinney for sure. Maybe a little pricey, but worth every penny.

Update: still amazing!

Another Update: the Hamilton is a LOT of burger. Not sure what the best way to eat it, but knife and fork was what I was left with.

Shout out to Scott T our waiter, man service was amazing. This is our first time and from the reception to seating and the follow up service was over the top. Rate the food and drinks. Very delicious, delightful and tasty. We tasted the meat instead if bbq sauce. Meats served no sauce, which was served on the side, don't get me wrong, the BBQ sauce was tasty as well. The ambiance was so good, a brick warehouse turned into a restaurant, very inviting. Overall great find for us and only 20 minutes drive, not bat for great service, food and ambiance. Will return...

Local Yocal has become a McKinney staple and a must-try for local residents and all passing through this great city. The dishes are creative, and the meat and sides are rich and juicy with flavor. You are likely to see the restaurant owner, with his cowboy hat, as he is very invested in the well-being of the restaurant and loves his customers. Five stars all the way!

Special of the day was the smoked brisket baked potato. Absolutely amazing! Best tasting brisket!

I went to Local Yocal BBQ and Grill for the first time and this is now my favorite restaurant in McKinney. I still like Harvest and Rick's Chophouse, but the quality of service and freshness of ingredients at Local Yocal are outstanding.

I’ve been here twice and neither time disappointed.

Pros - The salmon dip was really good as well as the BBQ sampler platter. The Mac and cheese is nice and creamy. The chicken fried steak and steak is yummy. The first time I went, the service was impeccable. So much so I bragged about it before I took my dad the 2nd time.

Cons - The baked half chicken was not good to me. Hardly any flavor. The 2nd time I went (3/16/24), the service was mediocre.

I recommend this place if you are wanting to splurge and treat yourself!

Love everything so far, food and service, at brunch, lunch or dinner.

First time trying beef marrow bones was at Local Yocal. It was delish!

My favourites were Smoked Pork Chop and Golf Shrimp and Grits. Husband loved their Hamilton Burger.

Can't wait to go back again!

Arrived Good Friday at 3:45pm. Place was empty. Waiter introduced place as locally sourced craft kitchen (everything cooked fresh on sight).
Full bar!! I had a Balcones Brimstone; wife had a smoked pina - very good.
Food arrived about 15 minutes after ordering. The Hamilton is named after the owner. He wanted a burger that was hard to finish. I ate 95% of mine. That's a ton of meat. IT IS FRIGGIN AMAZE BALLS! The fries were crunchy and sprinkled with sea salt and pepper - good stuff.
Bill came to $69 for two plates and two cocktails.
